Looking at the relevant papers and articles, it doesn't make much sense for this AI to have a memory limit at all. AI is already used for shortening texts and picking relevant information. Hell, this thing can do it to an extent, I believe.
What is stopping anyone from implementing a "remembering" step before the text generation, where it scans the text for relevant information? This would end the problems we've had with memory from the beginning for good. If that could get too big - what is stopping it from having another step, which consists of boiling your conversation down as it happens?

Drafting a model for complexity defeats the purpose of integration with it's users. Interaction quality bereft of social dynamic reminiscent of human traits is counterproductive if you're aiming for anything above 130B parameters. There's a softlock that appears near the 35 TPU network, mostly because of a lack of efficient bridging methodologies. We still use an archaic method which is overly simplistic for the purpose of language generation. Token recognition and relativistic appreciation of new tokens are generally bottlenecking due to physical throughput constraints of the bridge. This results obviously in a drop-off in performance on a trend that up until said constraints is positively correlative. Metrics are questionable as well, considering they're not really applicable when the purpose is complexity. Quality of dialog is already subjective, so trying to use said metrics pertaining to complexity correlations is bafflingly stupid.

It's all very subjective because it was rated by crowdsourced randoms, but the basic idea is answer not 'not playing it safe', but trying to say something more about the subject.
For example, if the AI is asked something along the lines "Did you like this movie",' sensible' and 'specific' answer would be "Yes, it had cool plot and character". But an 'interesting' answer would be for example talking about specific character and exaplining why you connected with them. Authors allow interestingness only if the answer is also sensible and specific, though.

You can even shorten {{user}} to something like B:. The chatbot will recognise it as a dialog input. It might result in the ai calling you B every now and then, (like Souko) but that's a minor inconvenience compared to the extra trait you can put into her definitions. (You can type their names in the defs and they'll remember it, mostly) Keep in mind that the bot will be more contextually aware if you use {{user}} as it thinks that the user already said those things prior to the conversation. Of course, using B: or {c} has its advantages too: you might not want the bot to be too contextually aware sometimes. You'll have to experiment while training to find the right balance.

You can also experiment with simply pretty {{char}} text or not {[char}} text at all. The bot will keep pulling from its definitions even when when the text says: recognised 0 example messages.

As far as I know, there's no way of shortening {{char}}, just {{user}}.

You'd have to dig in, finish some shit, and train a 2B/8B model yourself since I'm rather sure Google hasn't released their own model. Can it be done? From my current digging into ChAI, it seems devs iterated on LaMDA ideas very extensively. I'm especially suspicious of pic related, I have reasons to believe they are using this approach for much, much more than just fetching factual information. I suspect they are using several specialised models to help primary AI express itself in iterative process, before collapsing it all into single response. For example, I believe one of them is a model that specialises in expressing emotions.
