It depends of the girl. Pekora made drawings explaining what happened in the previous game before starting the next. At first I was worried she would drop it because she started at MGS3 but she played 3,1,2 and 4 in that order. Kojimbo wanted to get artsy with 2 but then trivialized everything that went down in there in 4.
4 itself is easy to miss and get lost in, because noone sane can pay attention through those long ass cut scenes, but the game goes to painstaking lengths to explain everything to the excruciating details.

With V you might be right, but then every boomer metal gear fag hates that one. Kojima tried to pull a 2 again, whether he missed the mark or not is still a debated topic.

It's pretty simple to understand. 2 might get a bit wonky to understand the first playthrough but makes even more sense the second time you play it when you realize what's actually going on.
But I understood 1 when I was still in Primary School and 3 when I was relatively young in high school.
