I've seen many indie vtubers do this before. Not that weird for Nijisanji to do this, even if they are a bigger company. Their brand awareness outside of Japan is pretty low. I don't think anyone knows what they are expecting, so it's kind of impossible to say. They are all experienced vtubers though, so along with returning fans of their previous personas, they could only do so poorly. The english speaking community does seem to still have an appetite for new vtubers at that level, so they should do alright.

The way ad campaigns work is you set a limit on how much you are willing to spend on it, most likely they'll stop pushing ads completely at some point or temporarily stop until a few hours before the debut
If we assume Nijisanji takes 30% cut (minus taxes) then it would take like $250,000 revenue from NijiEN to cancel out $60,000 in ad costs
If NijiEN doesn't do well numerically, I cannot see them just constantly dumping money like this in the future

KR is simply hard when you're not good at games since kr streamer viewer mostly are actual tryhard gamer that only enjoy good gameplay. They even have dedicated gaming tv channel which actually number 3rd in popularity after K-drama and K-pop. Now combine that harsh condition with those that are weeb and enjoy vtuber.
