That's not really true anon, TV talk shows have been some of the most popular forms of entertainment for most of the last century and there's even a direct link from them to the birth of VTubers and they were all about world news. Having current events as a springboard is an easy way for an entertainer to keep their content fresh without actually having to be endlessly creative.
