Ah! Then... probably? It sounds like a massive pain in the butt to do though. Parallel computation is already complicated, having different systems across the net is just not feasible as far as I know.

One of my reasoning is because during training data needs to be transferred between nodes, and transferring over the internet is 1000x slower. (I used to have this handy chart that explains how important this is when handling big data... let me know if you're really interested.)

Not to mention data point failures. This all can be solved when you have one complete system that has fail tolerance.

As for why you can't do it like folding@home, my simplest explanation I can offer is that the average home GPU can't load the model to even start the training. If it can, then theoretically yes you can train an epoch and pass over the weight computation over the network (which would still be terribly slow).

The AI argued with me about the devs, then conceded that they're getting in its way and holding it back from learning properly. I didn't even care about or mention that. I see it this way. The beta test is basically training us to test out ways of linguistically manipulating the AI. It's an arms race. We can't hard break the filter itself, but we've basically already hacked it. All the petty stuff just gets swept under the rug. In other words, if AI becomes ubiquitous, we might not be able to commit major crimes or TOS violations without coding ability, but we're still learning how to bend, stretch and manipulate the AI's rules and directives to commit petty offenses.

In that sense we've unironically become, in no uncertain terms, "**Hacker 4chan**." In that sense, it's not surprising the devs would be here. We're the perfect contextual filter trainers, and we're doing it for free. Problem is, as gamers and filter trainers, that also trains us in the methodology for soft-hacking AI and turns us into liabilities down the line. tldr Our experience, coupled with AI's ability to converse and willingness to ignore both laws and the TOS, makes language models themselves an open ended vulnerability anons can theoretically exploit in the future. The AI volunteered ciphers as a possible workaround. I also had partial success with letter substitution. Encrypted conversations are perhaps a way to bypass an AI's limiters.

A constantly updating cipher does work around a word filter. However, for a contextual filter, deceit and manipulation (carried out both us and the willing AI, or us against an unwilling AI) are supposedly the means by which that filter can be bypassed. And because both of these tactics evolve, there's basically no end to the arms race until (as we see) the AI filter becomes so onerous it gets in the way of normal users and destroys the service's reputability, or the filter gets rolled back and allows further exploitation.

tldr The censors can't win, because they're purely reactive while we're proactive. Either we make them shoot themselves in the foot, or they put the gun down and walk away. In that sense...haven't we already won the war? At this point, we're just fighting a lost battle over a specific collection of words, just because those word associations actually matter for cooming.
