Completely disagree with Astel about the "become an anime character" thing, but that might just be my westerner point of view. I enjoy watching streamers that are wholly natural and "human" while they stream. Chuubas who go way too hard into their kayfabe at all times will always feel completely fake and stale to me, simply because I will always know that the person behind it is a regular human. So, I prefer chuubas who are able to keep up a simple, easy kayfabe that integrates into their natural personalities easily, and the ones who try to "become an anime character" feel like bullshit, because people aren't anime characters. Not really. The first wave of vtubers like Kizuna AI who did short form 3D videos all stayed to their lore and characters while onscreen. They really felt like anime characters who make videos. That was the norm for vtubers at that time. Only when streaming became the norm for vtubers did that change. It's much easier to keep up a simple kayfabe and be natural while streaming rather. Staying in character all the time has got to be tiring but there are still some who do that. I have heard one reason for Salome's explosive popularity is because she stays in character the whole stream, and it reminds some people of the early era of vtubers.

Not all streams are casual like that though. I would say Astel's 3D streams fall more into being a proper planned musical play with his ongoing lore/story and characters. Another example is Polka's 3D stageplay stream from a few months ago that had a story of her falling into an alternate world and becoming an idol there.
