What kind of dinosaurs does /voms/ want to domesticate? I can think of Aponoth from Monster Hunter as a domesticated dinosaur.

>hardy
>meaty
>bones for building materials
>easy tempers
>dumber than cattle
>breeds lots of offspring by laying eggs
>strong enough to pull wagons and farm tools like oxen

Should be easy to find a dinosaur like that to domesticate.

Kino creation myth, reading it put a smile on my face. Attributing the hydrosphere to Kronii, which represents movement is the main agent for phenomenon marking the passage of time on landscapes was clever, beside the white snake translating seamlessly to rivers. Good stuff. The creation message is reminiscent of this project's purpose as a whole too. I like it!

Actually, Rat would be the only one without a fragment on earth. Kinda. While the other spirits left and left a fragment behind, Rat stayed with the creature(brrats) and just kinda chilled. So while rats in general would be considered sacred animals, there wouldn't be a giant Rat beast that governs them, unlike the Lord of the Sky for example, which would be the "patron deity" of Mother Owls.

Basically, what this myth establishes is that while the other spirits are not here anymore, their fragments are, and in the religion they would be known as Lords of Mountains/Rivers/Forests/Sky respectively. The Rat on the other hand would take on the role of Lord of Souls, since ya know, it kinda gave it to us. I'd have to explain this a bit more, but it's 2am here, and it's time to get some mc'ds.

Ah the good ole dismemberment route, love those. I also wanted the original creation myth to have a bit more to do with spirits and god like beings rather than one supreme being. Though the present religion would likely de-emphasize that and instead focus more on the actual historical records to answer the question of creation. Maybe the creation myth for all 3 council nations in the North West have very similar creation myths, just different versions of it. But that would also depend on the saplings.

Tangential but kinda funny you didn't go for the primordial egg route for its association with chaos.

What I've currently planned is a primordial soup thing that eventually gets developed into the world as we know it, either by conflict of the other girls or by it being nudged by them.
Humans don't have a unique origin compared to other animals, as fauna made all life, rather, human development was such that it broke out of fauna's control and Mumei is formed.

Ohh, dreams, huh? Hmm dreams are already established to be a state of mind where one is closer to the supernatural, both IRL and in Vitubia, where information from the Heavenly Realm can be received through them. Then if you use chuubanite, perhaps you could manipulate your dream state to peek into someone else's dream by reading it from the Heavenly Realm. Kinda like a man-in-the-middle attack where you intercept the dreamer's transmissions to the Heavenly Realm.
If you were an advanced user, you could even perhaps create a magical construct that feels like the Heavenly Realm, and have the dreamer dream fully in a Realm under your control. With the analogy, that would be like tricking a client into connecting to your own fake server instead of the real server. Shit, is this how we get Netrunners into Vitubia? Or stuff like Inception. I didn't see that part of the post somehow...

I tried reading that part of the chuubanite rentry but I still don’t know what’s going on in that which is why I asked for help, but if it’s possible and not too OP then it sounds like it should work!
I did have Paprika and Inception in mind when thinking about that but I don’t know how plausible it is. I think it’ll at least require a controlled environment filled with specific organic vapor to enter an advanced state like that so it probably can’t be abused too much (maybe?) and a shared dream might require all participants to share a room or otherwise be in the exact same environment for it to work? I think it’s more meant for balance than anything based on existing physics/biology. I think they have something similar in Wheel of Time but I haven’t read it yet

The relation of the metaphysics system to dreams is very under-developed, so we're kind of treading new ground. But the QRD on it is that the Heavenly Realm can be seen a server, which serves magic to clients.
The clients take the form of chuubanite, and magic entities.
All beings have at least a tiny fraction of themselves in the Heavenly Realm; call it their soul if you want.
Since dreams have a precedent for being used to communicate things with the Heavenly Realm, I think it's fair to say a dream can be an opportunity for a Soul to connect to the Heavenly Realm.
The challenge when trying to share a dream with someone would be how to connect to their Soul. If the two Souls are separate, there is no way they could find one another in the immense Heavenly Realm.
So as you say, chuubanite (which can act as a client for the Heavenly Realm server) can be used here to connect the two dreaming Souls, essentially creating a Local Network which connects to the Heavenly Realm. I think that works well!

A possibility for sharing a dream at a distance: one of the dreamers would need to be infused with a lot of conceptual energy, so that once they connect to the Heavenly Realm, they emit a signal that can be picked up by another aware dreamer. That is perhaps how chuubas communicate divinations to their followers. In Vitubia, that might look like putting the dreamer in some kind of chuubanitic device (A dreaming throne?) or injecting them with a near lethal dose of chuubanite. There are parallels with /asp/otheosis.

For those two options, what you'd be doing would be sharing a dream, so you'd be able to exchange information on an even footing with other dreamers, perhaps use manipulation or gaslighting, but you'd have to play with the Heavenly Realm's rules. Forcing something on other dreamers would be a contest of willpower. If you had a more nefarious purpose and wanted to do more non-consensual things to the other dreamer, that's when you'd need to make the dreamer dream in your fake server that is under your control instead of the Heavenly Realm. That would be very high level chuubanitic oneiromancy though...

I kinda started ranting there, sorry. Do you think that makes sense? These concepts could probably be of use for the chuubanite lore in general. Also, I haven't seen you being cringe yet.

That makes sense to me, thanks! I think I’ll try to read more about how the whole concept thing works later. Does that mean the soul’s technically not part of you since that fraction of yourself’s in the Heavenly Realm and you dream to make the two in sync? Or does that work differently?
Using some kinda device to amplify one’s signal sounds interesting although I don’t know if distant communications like that are allowed in this setting. Being able to manipulate/share a dream with others opens up a lot of possibilities too I don’t know why the more I write about /vnug/ the more sinister it sounds

>Does that mean the soul’s technically not part of you since that fraction of yourself’s in the Heavenly Realm and you dream to make the two in sync?
Interesting... I think your Soul and your being on Vitubia are always connected/in-sync, the dream is more like just something that makes it easier to communicate with it, perhaps because all physical distractions are tuned out. Maybe you can enter a dream-like state useful for divination with deep meditation. That would be more compatible with the concept of the janitors, who are beings that have a much larger fraction of their being in the Heavenly Realm, but can take conscious action on Vitubia.
>if distant communications like that are allowed in this setting.
I think what came out of this topic is that it's allowed as long as it's impractical and inefficient enough to not provide a massive societal utility with current technology. For example, catalognauts are able to communicate at long distances through the catalog, but catalognauts are very few in numbers. So you'd want longer range dream sharing to be locked behind very expensive and rare circumstances/magical engineering. Sinisterdom is the other side of anything cool! Or maybe that's just me being a bad influence...

I think they would need *something*. You need to tune your antenna to the right frequency to get a signal...
Well, taking the example of a Moriji priestess receiving a transmission from Mori, or a Sapling shaman divinating something from Fauna. It's straightforward to see that the respective divinators are tuned to their Goddess' "frequency" by using chuubanite of the respective type.
So, the "receiver" dreamer would need to use chuubanite of the exact same type as that used by the "emitter" dreamer. That would be like the frequency the dreamer is emitting on. Works nicely with conceptual energies being represented with waves.
The more precisely identical the receiver and emitter chuubanites are, the easier the communication would be, it would be like a better tuned radio and antenna, with less noise from other sources.
If the conditions above are fulfilled, I could see it happen accidentally.

>>36709283
This framework would explain it pretty neatly. You could have used a big antenna of sana-type chuubanite that transmitted the signal to all the sanallites, either through their dreams or some other way.

>> No.36710278

>>36708003
idk why dreams are inherently magical, or why you guys seem to talk like all you need to do is emit a stronger signal instead of identifying the core concept of a dream, or the mind of the one dreaming it, and interact with it that way, but other than that it seems fine to me. if the conceptual realm is a computer, then communicating with another part of it is not like a radio, more like identifying where the memory of a specific function is being allocated. dreams are only as magical as the magical signals they sometimes are interfered by. this means your mind is always a little bit magical because your mind is the place that stores the concept of you, and magic is the result of those concepts. for the most part, everything is fine in a practical sense as far as i can tell. just that the framing is a bit confusing.

>> No.36710618

>>36710278
basically, i can’t easily look into your dreams by looking for signals in the chuubanite you are influenced by, but if i add a glyph to identify your dreams, or at least eliminate things that aren’t your dream, i can. the magic produced by chuubanite comes from its own concept, which is separate from your dream, but if you identify that concept, you can find it even easier. it’s like the difference between brute forcing a password vs knowing it from the get go.

>idk why dreams are inherently magical
Oh, I didn't mean it that way, I reckon most dreams would be entirely mundane in nature. But since dreams have precedent for being a way to receive information from the Heavenly Realm, that's where I saw the connection.
I think we agree on the "matching core concept" part. When I talk about specific types of chuubanites, that's essentially chuubanite attuned to a specific concept.
I think the reason I suggested using chuubanite to identify the concept is that it would be more easy to practically interface with for the person interacting with the dream. Like, if you want the emitter and the receiver to have an exact conceptual match, with chuubanite it's as "easy" (probably still difficult) as purifying chuubanite extracts of matching concepts, and then both sides use this chuubanite to "find" each other. Like a way for them to be using matching memory addresses. Using a glyph would accomplish the same thing as well.

>> No.36711817

>>36711034
i think you underestimate the sheer size of the conceptual realm if you think merely using the same chuubanite could help you connect to a specific dream. i take it near lethal doses of chuubanite are to make the signal stronger and easier to find, but it would still be like trying to find a needle in a haystack because unless you have a way to eliminate noise, literally everything else would interfere with your search, as in everything in existence that has a concept that even remotely intersects with the concept the chuubanite runs on. it would be easier for magical entities like gods and catalognauts, but normal people require much more complex systems.

>> No.36712098

>>36711817
I would say that is a good thing, as we don't want this process to be too easy or accessible. Would this be mitigated by using a unique "signature" glyph in the process that matches on both sides?

>> No.36713932

>>36712098
yes, but depending on the glyphs that have already been established, it might be possible to figure out a glyph that can connect you to the dream without requiring a glyph from the other. you would need glyphs that identify a person, and a glyph that identifies the concept of a dream/the mind. if both already exist in the culture, and if the one in question has a glyph for themselves, then a rather skilled glyph maker could design a glyph that allowed them to enter their dreams without needing anything more. recall how difficult it is just to make an artificial glyph to identify a single person. that should make it pretty inaccessible to most.

>> No.36714406

>>36713932
Makes sense. People and their personal concept probably drifts with time as they gain more experiences and memories, so the personal glyph would also need to be sufficiently "up to date" to work properly.

>> No.36715098

>>36714406
not necessarily. there are 2 ways of looking at it. 1) the glyph is only used for identifying the subject. see my answer to the question of whether or not transubstantiation would stop working if you physically deformed the person doing the transubstantiation after the rituals. 2) the act of making an artificial glyph doesn’t just cause the glyph to gain the definition of the concept, it also causes the concept to gain the definition of the glyph. your personality would have as strong a connection to the glyph as the glyph has to your personality. this in no way means you wouldn’t change, just that you would have a force adding influence to how you change to make sure the most important aspects of your personality that were important enough to add to the glyph aren’t completely lost.

>> No.36715271

>>36715098
>doesn’t just cause the glyph to gain the definition of the concept, it also causes the concept to gain the definition of the glyph.
Hmm, that doesn't make sense to me. Wouldn't that cause a recursive relation between the glyph and the concept? What if you made a second glyph for the concept, would it need to take into account the first glyph in its definition? Would the first glyph need to be adjusted to take into account the second? How does the glyph apply this influence on the concept, does it need a constant influx of conceptual energy? It seems much more straightforward if the relation between the glyph and the concept is unidirectional.

this doesn’t make sense to me, the glyph is as much the concept as 2+2=4, or a bachelor = an unmarried man. how are you thinking of these things, to be able to imagine a recursive relation between 2+2=4 and 4=2+2 that wasn’t self-evident. what if there is another glyph? what if 1+3=4? as long as it is true, it doesn’t matter. the influence doesn’t require anything more than a definition. you are identifying, and thereby stating in the form of a glyph the nature of the concept you are seeking and defining. the force on your mind isn’t some kind of magical influence, it’s the mind itself, correcting itself as it always does. the only role the glyph plays is in defining some properties of the mind, solidifying their influence, not through magic, but through the nature of what your mind already is.

the glyph is the concept in written form. the changing of one would change the other, but so long as they do not contradict, once defined, they influence each other as much as anything influences itself because it is itself. the only thing the glyph adds is a solid definition that can be referred to by those who are trying to describe it, but that solid definition is now an inherent property of the concept it is referring to. you asked if a new glyph would be required if the person changed, i said they wouldn’t change enough for the glyph to no longer define them.

it depends on what you mean by “changed all their values”. i keep talking about the core concept of things, and i am wondering if people are misunderstanding the importance of the word “core” to the stuff i am describing. your physical location and physical condition has nothing to do with the core concept of you. if you define the glyph that way, maybe it will stop working, but the core concept of something cannot be changed simply. people change, they cannot change intentionally through willpower alone, and the way they change is dependent entirely on the way they were before. the core concept of the person does not change, even if they change a lot, at best it evolves. you are, for the most part, just like your ancestors. you will never evolve out of being a mammal, or an ape, even if you are radically different from any of your ancestors physically. if there was a glyph for a species, and if species were less physical and more conceptual in nature, then the glyph might determine how most of that species evolved over a long period of time.
the core concept of you is the focal point which all of the properties of your existence revolve around, you aren’t going to change that without becoming completely unrecognizable, which is more than merely acting in an unrecognizable way. it might be possible with trauma-induced amnesia, but just living in a different environment over a long period of time isn’t going to change the parts of you that define your core concept. that’s my interpretation at least.

Been a hot minute, other projects got in the way and now I'm in the UK on vague Workoliday.

But the basics are somewhat hammered out and ready to go. Currently not at a real computer, so putting everything in a nice document is quite difficult.

Trying to keep things open so it can be molded into a few different concepts should the need arise, if only because of the nature of this thread. Chuubanite still needs some work, but the core concept of "Spend X to add Y and DO Z" is present.

Though I should ask, if only because sorting through various pages on Geography and the dreaded "Time Loop, Time Loop!" being said

Is Magic a "Thing?" Like Non-Chuubanite Magic that is. It won't change too much, but just getting the 1's and 2's together would be nice.

Godspeed and Goodluck.

Theyre meant to absorb chuubanite through the ground and just be packed with the energy. In reality its probably some sort of biological/chemical reaction and when the gems run out they just become regular gems. You have to plant them in the ground to have power again.

The thing is, when you make statements like this, you have to take them to their logical conclusion. What I'm getting is that "Yea, your core concept can change, if you change enough". Like, it perfectly possible for a person to change so as to become completely unrecognizable, after some kind of trauma, amnesia or otherwise. What if you made a glyph of the core concept of a fetus? They're a blank slate, with no experiences, as they're molded by experiences surely their core concept would change to reflect that.

/tg/anon! I missed you.
So, basically, any time magic is talked about here, it is done via the Heavenly Realm. Chuubanite is the most common way to use magic energy (magical quanta) from the Heavenly Realm, but there are a couple of non-chuubanite sources, namely catalognauts. Catalognauts would be like wizards who have a mana bar that refills, while other people's mana bar only refills if they get more chuubanite (very rough QRD).
I kept your google doc open for a couple weeks checking in for updates hehe. Looking forward to what you've got.

i think this might be a difference in philosophy rather than a difference in the degree of thought being put into this. the core concept of a fetus would apply to any fetus, the core concept of a person applies to them and them alone as soon as they are conceived, but is only recognized after much introspection. you can change your core concept, but you won’t. not at any point in your whole life unless something so extraordinarily unexpected and radically unusual were to happen to you suddenly and without any chance for you to adapt to it. if you can adapt to it, the way you will adapt to it will be dependent on your core concept, and will not be able to change it. when all you can do is suffer through and be overwhelmed by whatever happened, then maybe the core concept would be forced to change, but merely changing your opinion, or attitude, or even personality isn’t enough to change the core concept of you. you being a fetus or not has precisely zero to do with your core concept. again, this is the core concept, not any random intersecting concept that is emergent from other concepts that are attached to you. this relates to what i was talking to panon about some time ago on the nature of mistakes. i don’t think i explained it well enough back then.

Oh, I think we got ourselves in an essentialist vs constructionist debate, interesting...
I think the main issue with your position is that there needs to be some arbitrary change threshold where the change is "radical enough" for a change in the core concept to occur.
Nature doesn't tend to like arbitrary thresholds, natural systems tend to be continuous. Can you explain why intrinsically, being traumatically brainwashed into being another person should change your core concept, but changing your favorite fruit doesn't?? From my point of view, those two things are the same, at a different intensity.

as i said, the threshold is what you can handle. there are different degrees of change, when your body has the ability to change only slightly, it does so only slightly. only when you are forced to change radically will you change radically. if you think changing your opinion on one minor thing is enough to change the core essence of what you are, then it should be fundamentally impossible to make a glyph for a specific person. even when you don’t “change” you are changing. if you can adapt to something, you will adapt to it while changing as little as possible about yourself. your core concept is the most essential part of you that will only change if you are utterly shattered as a person without any trace element of your being that is retained. it might not even happen with the kind of trauma i described, depending on what that concept is, but it would have to be so terribly maladaptive as to be incapable of withstanding the trauma to actually change. it’s not arbitrary, and as someone who has researched neuroscience, i should know that these things are very real, even if the form they take is rather difficult to see or describe.

>your core concept is the most essential part of you that will only change if you are utterly shattered as a person without any trace element of your being that is retained.
But, what is the threshold? If your person can be completely annihilated without your core concept changing, how is your core concept related to you? It's more like an arbitrary serial number that is attached to you, but otherwise unrelated.
> it should be fundamentally impossible to make a glyph for a specific person. even when you don’t “change” you are changing.
Exactly, that's what I'm saying. What you could do is make a glyph that is 99.99% accurate that can do the job well enough, for a bit, until the "original" drifts too far from the "copy". Then you'd need to "synchronize" it to the original again.

when you eat part of some kind of food, what does it’s core concept change into if it is no longer itself. what does a beach change into if i take a handful of sand and move it somewhere else? what kind of creature does a human transform into if you remove an arm or a leg? yes, you can be annihilated and still the core concept of you will remain. it is only if you try to change the concept itself that the core concept will change. changing the physical body will only effect the core concept in so far as the physical body is a factor in the core concept. that is not how core concepts typically work. what i meant by it being impossible is that the mere attempt to make a glyph would be a waste of time. if changing your mind changes every aspect of the most foundational principles behind how you operate, then you could never in a million years distill the concept of a person down to a single symbol. even if you could, it would last for no more than a single moment.
i used to take a shortcut in trying to understand nature by ascribing a sort of inconsistency, and constant, chaotic change to all natural processes. that is not how nature looks or operates. nature is even more orderly than anything man made, it’s just that the kind of order it takes is unlike anything man made because there is no inherent purpose to the way nature is ordered. it just is. idk if you understand what i mean by core concept even now if you can’t see how self-defeating the claim that changing your opinions will change your core concept is. if it were true, there would be no consistency at all in human nature, but i assure you there is a great deal of it, and once you understand the nature of these core concepts, you’ll understand it, too. unfortunately, this isn’t something i think i can explain. actually, idk if it can be explained, you might need to experience it before it starts making sense.

In my experience, things that cannot be explained tend to be things that aren't understood. I think if we, as creators of this world, don't understand what a "core concept" is, this makes it a notion difficult to work with. If we needed someone to put together the core concept of a person in a glyph, but ourselves are unable to say what that is, how are we meant to write it? How would the core concepts of two people differ, if those core concepts have nothing to do with their experiences, memories, body, existence?

still a fruit, still a beach, still a human. if you think all ideas that can't be explained are only that way because they aren't understood, you must be an eop. as an eop myself, i know there are quite a few words from other languages that have no english counterpart. when discussing language and communication, you get into many instances where there literally isn't a proper way to accurately explain something. when discussing very small or very large-scale concepts, that is also a common occurrence. you know what 100000 means, but the average human mind cannot conceptualize something so large, so it uses shortcuts to get an approximation. the human mind is brilliant at finding patterns in large sets of data because it is constantly looking for shortcuts to reduce the amount of effort it has to put into things.
when it comes to someone's core concept, this is not only no different, but someone's core concept is, in being the core of someone's being, especially resistant to any degree of change. if people were constantly changing radically, there would be nothing to build off of. to be fair, part of this also relates to how prepared the listener is to understand something. if you have no context to help yourself understand what you are hearing, you won't be able to understand it. that isn't due to your personality not meshing well with the information, the misunderstanding comes from the fact that your core concept has not adapted to the experiences needed to understand it.
i have said many times that your core concept relates to your body only insofar as your body relates to it. if you live life with no consideration to your body, or consideration that is not primarily about your body (social appearance, bodily function, avoidance of pain. someone who bases their entire existence around football, only to lose their leg just before they had the opportunity to make it big might be utterly broken by the experience, but only if there was nothing else their mind could attach itself to in order to be able to adapt to the trauma.) then your body won't matter at all, but for the most part, people have some indirect consideration for their body, and everything else, but it does so from a framework, or a lens that is used to unify all lesser concepts together, so annihilating one aspect of it does nothing to change the lens itself.
your experiences, your memories, your body, your existence, your genetics, how your genetics respond to your environment (epigenetics) and everything else that makes up the concept of you, distilled into the most essential, core components that everything intersects and is defined by, that is what your core concept is. it is a large-scale concept, the kind of thing everyone has to figure out for themselves after long, deep introspection that many will never have the opportunity to understand.
people have tried to explain this for millennia, people have accepted that it was something some people will never understand for almost as long. i can't explain it to you, not because i don't understand it, but because it doesn't seem like you are prepared to understand it yourself, and that is ok, there is nothing wrong about that, but that just means it will be difficult for you to understand some of the things i am talking about. i have found that neuroscience is a bit of a shortcut to some of it, but i know i wouldn't be able to understand it myself without the accompanying experiences to help me be able to comprehend the information i gained from my research. there isn't much more i can say on this matter, and i apologize, but if you can at least understand that i am not making all of this up out of thin air, and that there is a fair amount of backing behind this, both historically, and in modern times, then that would be appreciated.

i looked up essentialism vs constructionism, are you taking the constructionist perspective? while i whole-heartedly agree with the essentialist perspective, there are some nuggets of truth in the constructionist perspective that are relevant to this discussion. mostly not, and to take the constructionist perspective, you would have to disregard and remain ignorant of the reasons why some things effect people in different ways, but overall, there are at least a few observations that are correct from that perspective. if you are taking the position of essentialism, then i don't think it really is a debate on those grounds. please explain what you meant by that distinction.

/meat/head here. did someone say violence and gore? what kind of violence and gore are you talking about? what was the diplomatic relation between /vnug/ and /meat/ again? i recall there being some fun interaction between us back when palkyrie was being showcased/designed on stream (the ryona and cannibalism stuff, if i recall correctly) but i also recall being disappointed by something around that time, so idk. either way, we/i could maybe give you some suggestions depending on what you are planning.

I had an interesting chat on the topic with hospital Comfy who had views on the benefits of the essentialist perspective.
To clarify, yes, I posit that I had a more constructivist view. I'm not convinced by your argument, I feel like it still folds changing factors into a supposedly static core concept.
But Comfy brought up the practical concern that in a fictional setting, you would always expect a character to keep "something" of themselves, no matter what transformations they might go through. This "something" is undefined and varying per-character, but it's always there, and effectively, I can observe this to be true in all fiction I can think of. While this is a bit intellectually unsatisfying, I can accept this as precedent for defining an unchanging core concept.

Hello! I had been trying to write a short story about someone getting injured and killed but I can’t really get into the groove of things
For /vnug/ and /meat/ it all started with Liora being oddly vocal against cannibalism during her God of War streams but at the same time thinking getting bloodied and battered up is cool/hot so I translate that to an odd relationship between the two people. Later when I did my reps I decided that since we share some Nordic elements (Liora’s character concept and later Kokone’s pet being called Mimir) it might be interesting to have them share the same ancestry. Currently I heavily imply that the ancestors of Palkyries and Remlins were refugees from /meat/ that fled when/after the /meat/ cult take over, so the relationship between us would be awkward at best and hostile at worst but at the same time I also sprinkle in some commonality between us every now and then
I hope I didn’t disappoint you…

>>36747240
I’ll! Regarding glyphs, /vnug/’s magic mostly runs on chuubanite-organic complexes (basically magical essential oil) and music/songs. Would those work as components of the module?

Ah, we settled on songs being able to substituted for specialized activators, right? IIRC that worked out quite nicely. that's fair, as i said, it's fine if you don't agree with it, or if you don't fully understand the concept. personally, i find the social constructionist argument to be a few things that comfyanon would probably not want me to say in fear of potentially causing some offense, so in respect to him, i have and will continue to try to be as polite about these things as possible, even if it doesn't always work. with that said, panon also ultimately conceded on the point that it is better in fiction to have an essentialist character development. if that is what we will agree on, then i'll take it, but i just can't personally accept the idea that constructionism is valid in real life. there is a guy who made arguments for an ideology called naturalism (more of a scathing rebuttal of social constructionism, really), i'd say i have more in common with him overall, but essentialism seems accurate enough from what i have researched on it.

>so the relationship between us would be awkward at best and hostile at worst but at the same time I also sprinkle in some commonality between us every now and then
ya, that would probably be the part that disappointed me. i would have hoped a separatist faction from /meat/ would have a britian v. america sort of friendly/cousinly rivalry going on, but i guess that certainly wasn't the case any time soon from when america gained their independence. maybe our relationship can improve at some point.

Regarding the chuubanite rules for gravity, would manipulating weight violate those rules in terms of /ag/ chuubanite? I have an idea that it could be used to cause an effect similar to an Iron Metal Mind in Mistborm when applied to a Catalognaut, essentially converting a portion of excess energy into magic quanta that can be stored as fat, possibly could also be used to help transportation of heavy goods and helping our women ride horses.

>> No.36779692

To me that sounds like it's just manipulation of matter and not weight.

>> No.36780952

>>36779132
It depends. Changing the weight of an object with the same mass is gravity manipulation. But if you're talking about using energy as propulsion to increase newtons then it might be okay.

>> No.36781055

>>36779692
There's two ways to get more weight: Having more mass or having more gravity. If we're talking about adding more mass then it should be fine. Question is how are we adding mass?

It's more like the storing of mass, gravity itself isn't being changed but mass is being converted magic quanta making the object or person in question lighter as a result and can be converted back into mass or given additional mass from the magic quanta.
Energy propulsion would be a definite possibility as well but that seems like it could have different applications in /ag/ if we could do the above.

The big issue here is the energy conversion factor. How exactly does bringing mass into existence work when it comes to magic quanta? If it follows E=mc^2 then the amount of energy to fat you could convert would be extremely skewed. You'd need ~ 90 Terajoules worth of energy to create a single gram of matter. That's equivalent to about 1.5 Hiroshima nuclear bombs.

So, unless it is rule-of-cool'd, creation and destruction of matter on a macro scale would break the rule against magic nukes. Perhaps the matter could be "borrowed" from somewhere else, or in the case of removing matter, it could be hidden in the Vitium field/Heavenly realm somehow?

Transmutation of fat into water and carbon dioxide and back could also work. In this case, an /ag/ catalognaut could passively gain fat tissue by using magic quanta to form fat molecules from the water they drink, the food they eat, and the air they breathe. The amount of magic quanta stored in the fat tissue would likely be lower than the amount consumed by the process (as part of the energy is used in the act of forming the tissue). Conversely, they could release the bound magic quanta by magically burning this fat, in which case the catalognaut simply breathes out the extra mass (as carbon dioxide and water vapour), or excretes it through other means.

How fast the fat building occurs is up to you, but I would personally lean to something sensible, tied to the amount of air, water, and food the catalognaut can consume. As the process is magical, I think it could reasonably be faster than human metabolism.
Same applies to the release of this energy, but for some reason I think that could be even faster.

I dont think this could easily be applied to inorganic substances without canonizing transmutation in some form.

>Perhaps the matter could be "borrowed" from somewhere else, or in the case of removing matter, it could be hidden in the Vitium field/Heavenly realm somehow?
This is more of what I had in mind when I say converted, fat wouldn't really be created or destroyed since that same fat would have already existed as mass from the catalognaut. I'm not sure how the Heavenly Realm operates in terms of the matter being put inside of it however I don't think it would be entirely too problematic, I have an idea that the excess fat could combine with the magic quanta into a kind of Magic Fat when placed into the Heavenly Realm instead of a pure conversion of one or the other to avoid the issues with matter input and output, a /ag/ catalognaut could have a pool of magic fat that expands gradually through the excess concepts aligned with /ag/'s field of magic while also setting a limit based on the actual, non Magic Fat weight and mass of the catalognaut. The magic fat could allow a different sort of rules to be put in place so as to continue with the chuubanite rules.

I was actually getting to that really soon. To put it really simple it will be Commodus. As much as I love the idea of a nation filled with magic and sex (and dont worry that will never change) Every nation needs a government, army, and overall to get their shit together. Risuners are doing a basic animal instinct by 1124 and especially by 1130 which is showing power. Not gonna go full out crazy army like the hoomans or anything, just enough where pirates/slavers will look at us and say "ok nah they got too much people with guns"

Because I like the idea of a more unified religious government. Risuners think pretty alike (look at our fucking thread) and the whole point of Commodus campaign is to show that the witches arent doing fucking shit and it would take 50 years for them to have enough gem trees in caverns to use them regularly. Ah, that wasn't finished, the plans for it are in the backlog limbo... I was going to keep it kinda loose so it's easily forward-compatible, but basically it would involve forcing lots of people to sit in rrat fields generated by schizo shamans, in turn making them "schizo antennas" of sorts. Then, you'd be force-feeding one individual with chuubanite while he sat at the point of strongest schizo energy, which would induce trollification.

I initially intended to write the scene way longer and more detailed, but the way I intended to do so was too ambitious so I scrapped the idea.

>Is Jay about to become Akagi? Seems like he's about ready to bet his liver on a Mahjong game.
Not quite, but he will play with the three men introduced in the first part
He and Edward also appeared in the first part of the red bird story, so you could see this chapter as an introduction to these characters and how they ended up working together

>the edelweiss heir is sadistic
Lalarep is the head of the house, thus she carries the title of "Valt". If she was just a member or the heir, she would be referred to as "Sen".
Her relationship with the house is a bit complicated, but I do plan on exploring it a bit in the following chapters of Red Bird, if I ever manage to write that far.

Arcticnaito! I finished a rough outline for the next chapter.
Few things: there is the first battle between the Luknights and a monster. I can write it if you want, but I'd love to see how you write it to get a feel for how they'd fight such monsters. If I write this part up to the Luknights meeting the beast, would you like to write the fight?
Segundo, I was thinking of how the Lunaito scientists might decontaminate the land. I remember something about bitter stuff reacting explosively with sweet Luna-type chuubanite. Would spraying some kind of bitter fluid over contaminated stuff, causing burn up be an effective way to destroy the contaminant? It would cause some environmental damage, but it's better than the chuubanite.

As for schizo magic, it's a bit Tolkien-esque in my stories. Any normal magic can be twisted to be used for schizo purposes, but schizos don't come up with their own magic. Schizo shaman artefacts are all based on chuubanitic instruments taken from non-schizos. Something something "Evil does not create, it can only corrupt". But it's all pretty loose and flexible.

Ah, I did not see it nora. Consider me corrected then, I wasn't sure whether or not schizo energy was a thing but the trollification ritual you described does sound pretty rational, a massive chuubanite overdose in addition to a massive focused stream of mind breaking negative energy would kick any one over the edge.
I've also kinda had my own idea that since the concept of a schizo is that they have information of the real world that they shouldn't have that they could potentially have a greater understanding of things like chuubanite and magic and would be able to create hyper runes that are too complex and schizophrenic for the mortal mind to comprehend. I like the idea of trolls not being able to make things of their own and can only pervert holy objects and warp them for their own goals but I also like the idea of them being able to speak ritual words that can cause horrendous effects like pic related.
I also kind of want to speculate about someone being forcefully turned into a troll over a long amount of time nanora.

I think schizo energy is probably a type of Vitium Field wave that interacts strongly with the minds of living beings.
Schizophrenic hyper runes sound pretty cool. Preferably carved into the skin of a maiden they're about to sacrifice.
Oh yeah, a troll's schizo field. Only individuals of the utmost willpower and training and also Cahya are able to bear it without breaking down. The trollification would be a long and painful process in my story as well. I mean, it would take a while just to grow all that troll meat kek.

It looks like /2434/'s got some rainforest up north but its mostly a tropical monsoon. It looks like a wetter monsoon than a drier one due to the winds. In fact the monsoon area will eat all the rainfall before winds get to /nijimale/. There is an arid area next to /nijimale/ but I think that area will mostly be used for fishing instead of farming.

I just have to look at the terrain. It looks mostly flat but there's some hills.

While I don't have ideas for crops yet I do have a thought. How well will /2434/ handle floods. The terrain is mostly lowlands. So I'm thinking the jungles will be flooded forests at least during the wet monsoon season. Dry months will be winter. Since you're southern hemisphere it'd be in July.

Nanohodo! Trolls and schizos have alot more potential then we've used them for so far, I think your description of them and the conversation of sticking schizos in walls in order to disable catalognauts is the most we've discussed them since that first schizo entry was made.
>>36857107
No problem OG, if you need questions that could help you develop them further we could list a few. Some simple ones are mostly in terms of how they relate to different internal risu factions like the witches and commodus, do they have a side and are they at all divided by the power struggle? What authority do they have in relation to everyone else and risuner soldiers in the army? Stuff like that nanora.

Watching both Kokone and Liora really cut into my time here…
I updated /vnug/’s map to include Remland! I also put some nameless villages on the map to make it look a bit less lonely although some of them might change into proper towns in the future when gen 2 comes along. I imagine the named ones are currently the only settlements with more than 8000 people according to some sites I read. The total population’s likely somewhere between 150k and 200k

Thank you for your questions nanora!

I would be happy to write the fight, naaaa!

As far as chuubanite decomination, what you described is half of it, nanora. Bitter or salty solution is sprayed over large chunks to dissolve them, then picked up with a larger piece of magnetized Luna chuubanite. Any trace contamination is found with a charmingly low-tech solution, nanora: Lun-ant drones are released and quickly find any tiny pockets of unnatural sweetness, nnaaa. Without their queen, they should be sterile and not become an invasive species, nanora.

This sounds like it would be fine since unnatural sweetness sounds like lunaito candy radiation so they're likely mostly eating the hyper sweet stuff with trace amounts of chuubanite
Also, I realized alot of people started referring to me as rep since I occasionally vote but you're actually the writer responsible for most of our lore, do you wanna be the official rep, or are we a double rep thing? I think we've worked well without that kind of distinction but it's good to know

Yeah, that could make for a fun wrinkle. The silver lining is that the amount of Luna chuubanite is finite, and ants are more short-lived than Kaijus, so hopefully the Luna-chuubanite would be mostly cycled out of their system eventually, if the decontamination efforts go well... But it might make for extra fun in the shorter term.
I'll check it out, read it like a Concept Art book kek.

Will post this in next bread too, but my general idea should be that distance, location and lore potential is the criteria.

I don't think that islands next to provinces should count nor big islands. I also believe that given the time period, it is reasonable for islands to "change hands", which is to say that you "owning" the island isn't a guarantee in the future if say, a new thread would like that island. I think that naval nations owning a couple of small islands is not a big deal and that even if the islands are not claimed, you can use them in lore as deserted islands where boats resupply. Ideally, Islands would serve a lore purpose, or help make sense of a nation's naval power, such as Hoshiyomi control an island in the middle of the Kizuna Ocean. While the fear of a "scramble" for islands is reasonable, I think with the idea that the further away it is from your homeland, the less likely you can hold it "forever" can balance this out, as well as limiting islands. This is the stance of /2434/
