I really hope that Cover's luck with Gen 3's continues with EN3. Gura (for better or worse) is THE compass of the EN scene. Not VShoujo, not NijiEN, and not even anyone from HoloEN itself (thank God because Mori would be as bad as a compass as Nyanners). I am actually curious about something, and want to run this by you guys before wasting time if it turns out the methodology is flawed.
If I were to try and map out the average viewership of streams in the EN market with various people across the market (Mostly Youtube, but even with Twitch), high level, low level, mid level, corpo, indie, etc, and try to track their viewership over time, would that be able to generate a number for "overall market performance index" that could be used to generate a median index growth measurement, which could then be used as a measuring stick to determine if someone's rate of growth/decline is either sticking to market trends, or deviating from the overall trend due to external factors relevant to them specifically?
Is that the method you'd want to use to get that data? Or is there a better way to establish an overall market trend without just relying on "vibes?"

To be clear, though, I'm not so much talking about the normal stuff that gets tracked here like "average CCV," although that COULD be a good number to base this on if I went archive diving and compiled a comprehensive list, but I assume it doesn't stretch back far enough to measure against the Fall/Winter 2020 "peak markets." I'm talking about measuring the average percentage growth/fall of the market in general.
So, for example, if I was able to make the index measurement stick accurately, and it said something like
>The EN viewership market is currently down 5%, MoM
And I were to compare it to the streamers who are active, it wouldn't matter if a Vtuber was exceptionally higher in numbers compared to another one, just that they were on that percentile trend line.
So, if Gura was averaging 20k the month before, but this month was measuring 19.4k, then she'd be performing at market-adjusted parity, but if she was netting an average of 19k, she'd be under the market average for a reason that would have to be looked into, and if she was still hitting 20k then she'd be outperforming the market average.
Kind of like how NASDAQ/DOW works for the stock market, but measuring market CCV instead. Not any particular Vtuber or Corporation, but a "basket of goods" that gives insight to the overall market trend. That way, you can see if any particular Vtuber's performance is suffering/excelling because of their own efforts, or if they're just being subjected to general trends regardless of effort, and how much those factors mix.

Market trends are always going to be top heavy, so you gotta think about how useful that data is going to be.
That and well... as much as we race it here, CCV is only half the battle in Youtube. Gura and several other ENs (and even JPs) have a VERY heavy VOD watching audience, which cannot be directly compared to Twitch.
So the potential comparison is already skewed.
There's also recline in comparison to you own branch vs recline in comparison to general Youtube, but that will also have caveats and disclaimers.
It's a big ask, and I'd recommend keeping YT and Twitch separate, and separate the data along branch lines for best effect.
