On the whole "parasocial" discussion in previous thread, we had someone saying they DO consider their viewers to be their friends, and that it's unfair to act like these friendships "don't count" just because the way they choose to spend time with people is through streaming. This seems to cut into some people's ideas of a "celebrity" and a "fan" in an unequal power dynamic.

I don't make any claim towards whether this kind of relationship is healthy or not. I only advocate for the more careful, precise, limited use of the word "parasocial", and propose using the much more straightforward "unhealthy", and to properly direct criticism towards socializing online and streaming as a medium for socialization, rather than hiding behind some fallacious power dynamic argument.

Hatred for male chuubas is just an extension of the incel mentality. The average /wvt/ user isn't getting any pussy, and thus they give into loneliness, despair, and hatred. To escape these crushing feelings, they turn to unhealthy relationships with small streamers on the internet. Finally, it feels like someone cares. However- these viewers aren't the best at human interaction, and most of them have some deep-rooted anxiety that prevents them from talking to women in real life. This same anxiety, naturally, would prevent them from being confident enough to put themselves out there on a livestream of their own. It's not hard to see how such a guy would be jealous of a male who starts streaming with ridiculous levels of confidence and charisma. After all, this male is getting collabs, raids, new viewers, subs, follows, and DMs from the female chuubas that the viewers idolize. This male is in voice calls in private discord servers with the girls every night. All this to say: I can understand the plight of the viewer, and I can even pity them at times. However, at the end of the day, just remember: *I'm* the one fucking your oshi.

I really want to help a vtuber financially because they need it, and I have the spare capital, but I've also already donated a good amount to them.
Part of me doesn't want to give more money to someone I barely know, but that feels...greedy somehow? As though I want their friendship in exchange for the money I'm willing to give.
