This trade deal is a threat to the status quo of the region, and more importantly, poses a direct threat to the Republic, as it stands now, the establishment of a risuner settlement, one that is supported by powers that are known to be involved in aggresive diplomatic affairs and might involve themselves in wars, and might also not have the best interest of the region in mind, is an unacceptable end.
Now, we aren't away from negotiations here, if risuners are more willing to negotiate with the Republic which should be kept in mind already has roadways and connections into the sapling villages, the establishment of a risuner port of inmense expense considering the limited naval and economic capabilities of /risu/ and would decrease the amount of involvement of any other third party. Ah well, then I'll rephrase that, the current idea is to reduce the amount of foreign influence in the area. There is no CIO influence in our part of the ocean either, inviting them for what is simply an escort mission, and then letting them have a potential office close by to where they can negotiate with the sapling villages of the coast, then that's letting them have free influence that we could be monopolizing. That and we must push forward our own trade companies (implied to exist) either private or state owned.
It is simply not great for our intentions to remain as free of any potential foreign influence. Especially giving it away for what is essentially a free escort mission. It removes our a part of our agency from the dealings overall.

The "rocket" is supposed to be more of a slow burning pyrotechnic device to set fire to a fortified position like a castle or town. While there isn't any evidence this particular tactic was employed there are various other accounts of live animals being used as incendiary devices that target structures.

I think Nasfaqronie planned to have some Hooman ran companies trade with /who/. There's also the factor that /nasfaqg/ is quite decentralized, with companies answering only to themselves. I would argue that some companies in /nsafaqg/ that are run by hoomans would gain more trust not least due to shared religion but also historical factors. I can see some lore potential of Hoomans deliberately trade with /who/ during the founding war despite the risk, and they were thus given more trust and some leeway. Although the protectionist policies would still apply. The positive view, shared religion and being relatively risk free just means that they will have an easier time striking a deal with the Department of Economics.

A large part of that is because I my own formulation, the Republic probably sees access to the sea and thus trade more important. The East would have been more heavily fortified after the first few decades of difficulties. They need a way to procure more manpower and economic resources in order to prosecute a war in the East. The flatter terrain and relative lack of calvary by the Enemy in the West combined with a more developed infrastructure would lead the Republic to pacify the West first. The next comes the South East, where it produces horses and have a natural barrier that makes it more defensible. After both are acquired and stabilized only then Republic would plan a Northern Expedition and eradicate the Schizo puppet states in the East.

I remember I typed in that note I posted here I kind of intended the first phase of the war to be us basically slowly losing territory. Most of the territorial gains are immediately retaken by both sides. The style of combat would also be different in both fronts. The Eastern front would be charaterised by large raiding parties harassing levied garrisons and ocassioanl huge war parties sieging cities and then barely being beaten back. Any armies that try to chase them inland would be annihilated as undrilled levies would charge the mounted archers and gets eliminated when they get bought into ambushes. The West would be more conventional, characterized by seasonal surges of raiders in colder months. Territories are constantly in flux in the West whereas the East is more stable, but some large pushes can be devastating due to the mobility of mounted archers. A two front war where the state is barely managing to survive sounds pretty shit to me.

The issue is that Hoshiyomi is an ally to neither Moriji, /risu/, nor even /uuu/, it is a complete third party to this whole operation. Giving complete control over the strategic asset to such a third party is not a risk that Moriji is willing to make. We'll want to retain at least some supervision over it. i have to admit this one was still a bit too much milautism for me, for one i would have loved to have heared the talk between the marquis and commodus before the battle because i fealt lots of character building could have happened here.
