They’re shooting themselves in the foot if they think their new fanbase will donate as much as unicorns. No normalfag will donate or buy merch to the extent a unicorn would. Normalfags only bring in more money if you have a large following of them but that’s never going to happen. Vtubers will never be as popular in the West as in Japan and even if they did Hololive would not be able to hold it’s current position at the top. Cover is incompetent, what's new? They are chasing the Chinese market without having access to said market anymore. Uproar was a total failure in every possible way. Stars EN are doing ok but also hurting their main source of revenue, hell they fired a top moneymaker Rushia for hurting the brand no matter what other excuses Cover gives for it.
They couldn't get rid of Stars once they had them established but they are now compounding on their mistakes for no reason.

Luxiem's existence and relatively huge success is why Tempus suddenly exists now. Luxiem made big money and propelled Vox to a top vtuber due to Chinese fangirls. Cover left china market for a long time. A lot of sponsors (including non chinese sponsor) cut ties with Cover. Coco and Fubuki were harassed by antis.

I don't think Cover will aim for china market ever again. But i do think EN management is trying to replicate NijiEN's success by encouraging mixed collab. Because I can't see other reason.
