Good morning from this side of the /vtwbg/ globe!
For a long time, the island nations of /ybc/ and /ag/ have been neighbours in the vast inner ocean , and yet despite this, we have never established anything beyond common acceptance and respect between different types of architects.
So I, in representation of /ybc/, would like to extend an invitation to /ag/, in order to discuss a long standing driendship between our dots on the map.

For this purpose, and since in a month a Sumo Wrestling tournament will be held in the Dragoon Town in (northwest of our country) I think it would be appropiate to ask of your guidance for the participants to be trained, and perhaps you could be our guests of honour in this ritual to the Large Goddesses of our realm.

The installations are already well under construction, if you choose to inspect them. We eagerly await your answer!

Btw! I'm the /ybc/ anon and I plan to expand on /ybc/ a ton. I already read most of the guidelines, but I have a coupleof questions.
Mainly, how does time translate between the real history of /vt/ and /vtwbg/?

/ybc/ was founded on April 2nd of 2021, so it's one of the earliest threads. I would like to know if that's reflected into a concrete date, or is just vague "in the beggining, OP created the skybox and spawn..."

>> No.32446579

>>32446464
I use the good old method of this. 1750 tech mine current year 1130 = 620 IRL. This means year 0 is 620. Now all you have to do is calculate how this translates into your foundation. I used like 250 or something for LazuLight FYI. Seems roundabout but this method worked for me

>> No.32446610

>>32446464
Welcome to /vtwbg/!
In terms of translating time from /vt/ to /vtwbg/, we kind of play it fast and loose because the actual history of the thread might not work when getting ported directly into this world. Still, in principle we encourage people to take into account the history of a thread when writing their in-universe history.
As for concrete dates, our date system is derived from >>22986917, although it should be noted that it doesn't mean you have to translate your dates through the same system, so ultimately it depends on what date suits your content more.

>> No.32446618

>>32446464
Your nation's founding date doesn't have to match the exact time your thread was created. If you are not comfortable with putting numbers on things then you can choose to not do it.

Thanks!
II just don't want any date I put to clash with what's happening.

Since you have such great disposition, I also would like to run an idea through you.

>/ybc/ is sitting on a massive concentration of chuubanite.
This would, I think, work wonders for the chaotic history of the thread.
Here's why and how it can be balanced to not be taken advantage.

>Why, tho?
Due to the constant presence of the Goddesses, who walk and work these lands.
Direct interaction has happened with Phase Connect (Pippa, Lumi, Tenma, soon to be more due to an announce new visit), Beatani, ~~and allegedly Risu but there's no way to confirm this~~
Indirect contact, with vtubers either showcasing the server or publically liking it has happened with Akai Haato (which allegedly directly kickstarted the Haachama arc, as it was the last clip she showed before her first transformation), Kiryu Coco, Kiara, Ina, and other hologirls.
Their constant interaction with the people here has coused some of their magic to influence the ores in the land.

>The Great Exile
/ybc/ got deleted and exiled to /vm/ around May of 2021, and wouldn't be allowed back until October of the same year.
While it was clearly the work of jannies, the entire dissappearance of a mass of land would be devastating for the world and make no sense. So Instead, chuubanite radiation due to the sheer concentration would cause jannies to temporarily "vanish" the island's inhabitants until they eventually broke free.

>The Mines
/ybc/'s main activity is to mine and to build. It would make sense for the ore centric world to have chuubanite as one of the ores they extract.

>How to balance this?
The inhabitants of /ybc/ cannot and WILL NEVER know what chuubanite is and what it does. They simply assume the oddities of the island happen due to divine intervention.
They are extremely religious and devout, and the effects of chuubanite on themselves are taken as blessing or curses.
This is why they will also never trade or sell chubanite, instead it simply being used as a construction material.

Thoughts? It's just an idea, and I'm more than open to change it or scrap it

>> No.32447476

>>32447376
Plenty of nations have tons chuubanite for a variety of reasons, I think this is fine and well thought-out. You can talk to the /meat/bros about working in the Great Exile, they've written a bit about their various instances of being banished to other realms by the jannies.

I really like your way of setting the stage here. I assume the first man is a priest or official of some sort. Now that we have a frontier Dynatoi stating his position, this addes a lot more depth. The integrate of the CIO given the lore you, 2434 and pcg agreed on adds so much of an interesting dynamic here. It really shows that the Dynatoi, unlike in Phase, are more than happy with the CIO. I am interested to see how involved and if Ioannes' ideas will be carried into the future. I assume that /aeg/ is different than phase given the divine right aspect. Great work, you write great stories.

Djong isn't a sea fortress - I think the largest ones were about the size of galleons. As for Ming treasure ships, how big they truly were is still subject to debate, complicated by the fact that no detailed designs of the ships survive to this day - most larger reconstructions were based on historical records of dubious accuracy, an oar unearthed, or indirect evidence like the size of the dry dock. I think it's telling that even now, no one has managed to finish a reconstruction of the treasure ships that follow the stated scale, instead opting for smaller ones for it. In either case, even if it's actually as big as the records stated, they would probably be limited to coastal sailing.

I really like your style, aegrep. The stage is set perfectly by using the opinions of people from different classes and professions. I felt that each one of them had their own unique flavor to them that sets the tone and does what you accomplished; setting the stage. Writing that "my nation is xyz" i feel doesn't set the stage as well as telling it from the perspective of these different people. It also gives a stage of uncertainty that I enjoy about what the nation will become. I am not the best at this kind of story writing, perhaps I could get you to help me in the future.

Great work!

This is a great foundational introduction to work with because of how you stylized it using different perspectives. For some nations, I don't know if this is the ideal methodology in creation, but when it comes to a nation that is in shambles like /aeg/, I must admit I do think this was the ideal way of setting the stage. Each perspective brought something unique, some loving the CIO, others hating it. You have to feel bad for the Emperor and the Merchant, and their perspectives in particular were heartfelt; especially the Emperor, who I felt wrote with clear depression about the state of his realm.

Brilliant. Love what you bring and I will stay tuned.

Thank you. I had some good inspiration today to get this done. I feel like telling a story in this fashion was the ideal way of setting the stage. I took inspiration from my past works and the Pomerlane saga honestly. I felt as if I went and made a lore doc like everyone else, it would be missing the soul that would come from this. It's not for everyone, but this is my prefered method of getting as was said, the foundation down. From this, I can work with phase and alice to figure things out better. I tried to not use location names on purpose.

Thank you for your feedback, I have noticed that some anons here don't get a lot of feedback and that other anons will complain about the thread being off topic when an easy solution to this problem would be for them to request feedback or give it in my opinion. Too many timeloops that could be easily avoided come from lack of participation in such a manner honestly.

I will also make mention of this, I found the whole discussion about the >panon voting bloc to be rather disgusting to panon and "newfags" because the implication is that they do not have the intelligence to think for themselves and come to their own conclusions. Those who claim they want this project to be less cliquish seem to be the ones who are pushing people that way by how much they seem to target someone who I have observed to be friendly, helpful and lorefocused in Panon, not to mention many of his so-called "Clique" are very productive members of this thread. Just because you see many of them voting similar during this vote has nothing to do with them being more loyal to their friends than the thread. I am sure I will now be thrown into this >panon generation now, but I do not care as my opinions will always be my own.

I do not believe the former is true as there is no evidence, and while the latter is true about many, I can discern that there is a vocal minority of anons here that actually are writers and members of this project that have a bone to pick. Please, for the sake of this thread, show some respect for everyone here. This belief of a conspiracy and malice leads nowhere.

Thanks for coming to my lecture.

I am grateful to have you as my neighbor and working partner.

Giving my take, as I did observe this as well. Quite honestly, I personally do take issue with this concept of me voting based upon friendship rather than my own conclusions. I am not part of any thread faction and me being on friendly terms with ppanon and alice has nothing to do with how I act in this thread. Founder made this point earlier about ppanon, so i will not detail that, but what I will say is that this tribalism based on >old vs new that some push is quite honestly the wrong way of doing things. It's childish to assume such things about our writers, all of them in fact, to assume their feelings factor into the vote. I love and respect everyone here, and I am sure many of the so-called "oldfags" do as well. I just do not see the point in this constant finger pointing. Thank you.

I honestly don't see the need to balance having more chuubanite, some nations simply are more rich in some ores than others.
If anything since /ybc/ worships any and all diety, it could be a nation huge on import and export of chuubanite, where it's chuubanite might be very easy to dye in a certain nation's chuubanite and /ybc/ making use of a varity of chuubanite of many places.

to be fair, the idea that you can't find a social system that accurately represents a social system, regardless of scaling issues, was always a somewhat flawed mentality in my opinion. the notion that something existing on a different scale might cause it to be less functional, while often accurate in real life applications for one reason or another, is irrelevant for a world building project with a magic system and enough diversity of options to allow for new solutions to real life problems, plus the fact that it is difficult to test if anything is possible to a scale from an epistemological perspective.

The nice thing with that is that an autist could say this is just the chuubanite arranging itself and the material it is bound to according to crystalline patterns, creating regular cleavage planes, and explaining why solidifying fluids grow into the same crystalline shapes. Those shapes can be cubic, tetrahedral, pyramidal, etc.

Whatever you don't want to be crystalline doesn't have to be! It's up to you.
I want to mention though, stuff like trees and soil could have crystalline cleavage patterns without having crystalline external shapes. Why? Because for example, the forces applied to a tree (wind forces, the weight of its leaves, weathering) would tend to push/erode its shape into cylinders. But if you tried to smash it to pieces, it might still splinter into cubes if its cells are arranged with a cubic crystalline pattern.
Similarly, even if soil particles and stone tended to arrange themselves and grow following a crystalline pattern, erosion from wind and rainfall could erode them such that they have smooth, natural looking external surfaces.
But then again, crystalline macrostructures are not unseen in IRL nature either:

Might as well post it I guess. Notes on some of the historical arms and armor of /who/:

West: Winged spear, Linothorax for militia, some reinforced with laminar or integrated plates Laminar for more professional/rich soldiers, smaller plates.
Studded or non studded leather vambrace. Only cav wears metal shin protection, mostly laminar.
Pot type helmet with some plated cheek protection, cav have laminar hanging from back, plume like roman helmets
Chain mail fashionable near the coast but no widespread use(bad against arrows and bolts)
Arming doublet with laminar inside slowly adopted esp. by cavalry
Rounded hexagonal shields. Smaller strapped shields from Eastern influence
Crossbow, trigger type widely used
less cav., mostly use couched lance, heavier horses, slower but more powerful charge

East: Atgeir like polearm. Padded coats, Hardened leather scale/laminar armor, iron laminar rarer, mostly used by Cataphracts
More heavily padded arming coats
helmet more prominent face protection, more pointed top, plume often fitted on top
Vambrace and shin gaurd with iron strip
Use of archery more prominent
Smaller rounded shield for more mobile warfare. Usually strapped with 5 bosses, still able to held in the center.
Swords have more pronounced handguard, later developed into basket like hilt, adapted to fighting on horse? Straight bladed, double and single edged, thrusting and hewing
Lance also used but swords and bow favored for most.

General trend:
Slowly transitioning from double edged to thrusting optimised sword, then starts to curve slightly, while still have front half sharpened both edge, then into more Yatagan like shape.
Both sides have cataphracts, horse only face and front armored

I... don't know. If we assume /ahoy/'s orogeny to be old, then its composition will depend on what said orogeny is, which is somewhat lacking given the information we have now. My guess is that the surface rocks of the highland will be a mix of hard igneous rocks (like granite) and metamorphic rocks that could withstand the weathering, with the gaps being filled by eroded sediments. The same weathering process also reduces the mineral deposits the hills have (as many of them are somewhat soluble, especially given /ahoy/'s warm and wet climate). Many of them will end up in the sea, but they can also pile up in the lowland alongside rivers old and new, so /ahoy/ would still have a decent amount of it if you know where to look.
Ultimately I would say just go with what you want and justify it backwards. You can probably expect the more common ones like iron and copper to be found with relative ease, but precious metals might be harder to find in biog deposits. Maybe that's one of the reasons why /ahoy/ becomes pirates?

Like others said it's well organised. But Wasabi is a type of horseradish, not a pepper. Unless it's a special type of plant that taste like wasabi. Cinnamon is cultivated in Southern China as well but it's slightly different than Sri Lankan ones that are usually used in baking. Rather than "growing" silk, the plant crop should be mulberry as that's what the silk worms eat, but that can be fixed by simply using produced instead. Same as the teas as they mostly differ in their methods of production. The chemicals industry might be just a little too advanced, but I'm not good at chemistry
Since many of the sections in agriculture just reuses sentence structure, maybe you can make it into a list/table instead? With a short paragraph introducing any significant variation in production.

I make my living as a Financial Advisor, Accountant and Stock Trader but I am not qualified to actually try to make sense of that sort of thing in a world where we do not have precise details avaliable. She would have to not only calculate her population, the tax levels, and all of that including the many expesnses, but also factor in the trade companies, vassals, etc. into this. That is impossible for anyone without hard data. You can be an economic genius, but until you have all of the hard numbers and variables you cannot calculate those things.

From a very brief search I only found that Japanese Cinnamon is only used for furniture and fragrance. If you look at one I guess you will see why. The manner it's grown probably makes its bark very hard to peel. And there's a reason why you don't really see them being cultivated commercially. There's a website that says they are also used as spices but it's not sourced.

By the way, on the subject of Autism, if the time ever came where I was fully free again (presumably after I've finished the map, my current short story and the Votzmich saga) I'd be happy to sit down with individual nations, figure out how much arable land they have, and project their ability to sustain a population based on that. I've written up systems of calculation for it for Nation Building games that I could probably apply to here as well.

I don't know much about the nation admittedly but I'll attempt a review of it for the sake of it.
>Primary Sector:
I think that this did a good job creating an idea of what the nation's farming culture is like and alot of the little details give way to easily imagining what some of these communities might be like, the denotations of where the most profitable harvests come from can lead to creative thinking about where routes of trade might be and there's some nice logic behind farms being grouped up together and that lets other writers get a nice idea for how these communities might operate if they wanted to write a story involving one.
One thing I noticed though was that a repetition of details is prevalent in a way that confused me into thinking I was rereading bits of it. An example of this is the "Livestock within this region is common, as their uses for manure..." bit which gets repeated three times in a copy and paste manner. Another thing was that some of the resources are listed in a way that almost makes it seem like it's everything that could potentially grow in the region instead of what would most likely grow in the region given the economic demand and culture, I was going to bring up that the diversity in the amount of trees was odd however I was in the FFA for a while and still have a book of trees that grew in my region and they were about as diverse, I think a small addition of how the soil's quality helped aid the growth of certain resources would make it seem less strange. The section on metals also mentions ores that I'm not entirely sure how they would be used if they are actively mined in the context of the time period, (lithium, molybdenum, uranium, kaolinite), it was kind of vauge as to which resources actually got used and which were just present in the environment.
Overall, it's still pretty good.
>Secondary Sector
I really like how this section sets up possible conflict between traditional artisan workers and the technological advancements which are slowly but surely encroaching on their lively hoods, specific denotations of the locations where industry was major in and what products were most profitable are nice touches to help other writers envision the setting.
This explained certain things that weakened the Primary Sector like how new different metals are being used for refinement but the chemical section was pretty short so it didn't go into much detail.
>Tertiary Sector
Love how this section sets up for conflict between the upper and lower class through the feudal tax system and how its very easy to follow without losing much information or nuance. Other factions are also introduced and the ways that they'll interact with each other is something future writers can speculate and predict with relative accuracy given how much information was given regarding the circumstances of the nation's inhabitants. The element of pseudo-superstitious natural disasters is another fun thing that I personally like to see a lot in writing.
The entry itself did really good, I usually don't pay much attention to economics but looking over my own review of the paper and taking to note what boons and banes i recognized makes me feel like I can now spot similar things in my own lore writings. The best thing about the entry is what it implies outside of economics in my opinion and I'm going to actually pay more attention to how it develops now than I would have before posting. I am eternally scorned by autism to write out massive blobs of not lore while staring at the first paragraph of my own lore works like a recently diseased raccoon.

coward chamas, you hurt your own cause by feigning weakness and do more to create an idea of a clique by presenting anons with similar worries as weak willed and cowardly. Pull up your trousers, tighten your belt, and start critiquing other's work if you don't want the same people critiquing only each others works, either that or stop trying to revive feedback arguments because you make a reasonable position seem weak. If you don't answer the people directly asking to review your work than you have no right to complain about it not getting reviewed.
Your opponent being on slippery ground doesn't really matter if you're trying to fight them in quicksand or something i dont know, just be less whiny.

You take away only the negative of my critique and disregard my boons? You'd abandon your own words with such haste like they were nothing? Scornful, dishonorable even. Unworthy of being cut down.
>>32464050
I'll not hear speech from the likes of you and I'll not hear your impotent comparisons to your betters. "common sense", perhaps if you're a coward of the lowest whimpering creature, maybe then it would be common sense to tuck tail and mope as opposed to acting in a direct and blunt fashion towards the betterment of all involved. What say you, rat thing? Is it warm and cozy hiding behind the coats of people that are no longer there to retort? You're pitifully scared of being critiqued yourself and instead prevent your own supposed works from evolving, that is the blunt truth of it. Now off to the sewer pits with you, shit weasel of the lowest order of rodent.

1.a) Y, both reps want it.
1.b) 4 if we're going with the provincial system.
2.) Y
3.) N, I have explained my position in the thread before, but I don't see the need to formalize it. Let Nijinations consider it the Niji(neutral)continent and Holonations consider it Holocontinent, or whatever the threads want.
4.) Y
5.) Y, it is no longer relevant.

Fundamentally, axes as a concept are closer to the lowborn (cheap to make, used by lumberjacks) while swords are conceptually more noble (more expensive to make, used solely for armed combat against other people). So an execution done with a sword just tends to have more emotional/popular legitimacy than one done with an axe, on a superficial level. you want to make examples of your enemies. shock and awe to decrease morale in those who dare to challenge you. the way you do that is with fear and brutality. beheading someone with elegance is difficult without compromising on that brutality, and most people go to executions for the brutality for it's novelty. if you don't care what the executed think, you don't care what the onlookers think, be it to inspire interest or fear-enforced compliance, so what's the point in having a public spectacle like that at all?

If something was not in the By-Laws, I cannot enforce it. It's as simple as that.

Is the issue just that it's not in the rentry? None of the changes were added afaik. The person who owns those hasn't updated them in forever, I doubt they're still around.

What is the consensus or opinion on multiple timelines?

We already have multiple timelines, in Era After. That's totally fine.

Did someone make a new rentry? I stand corrected then. I guess they thought it was up in the air because of the rentry vs trip verification idk.

>> No.32475097

Go ahead, but you must be willing to lead the debates on the issues prior to the vote (well, idk if that is needed but I did it and I think it was beneficial for everyone's understanding)

>> No.32475198

>>32475088
I hope so, because there was nothing indicating that was up in the air when this was said under outstanding proposals. Btw, I would have accepted the Rentry method this time regardless because it would have been up for debate.
>Rentry-based vote validation may be considered.

>> No.32475218

It's not needed, nor preferable, and it's probably better if voteanon's identity is not known, it just invites people shitposting about whoever is doing it. The process is fully transparent, so it doesn't matter who does it, their work is verified by other people.

>> No.32475301

>>32475097
Well, i can moderate and update the potenital vote but i think mountainsenpai and friends would lead their proposals. if you prospose something, you should be leading the discussion on it; not the voteanon. Voteanon is just the neutral one verifying the discussion and updating the vote.

/hfz/ teams apparently are timeline travelers given that they were playing in two matches simultaneously during the tournament (FBU and Divegrass). Once FBU ended at about half for Divegrass, the timelines merged they woke up.
