It felt lifeless, mostly because of the whole horse racing line that took up half the festival.

The attractions were kinda boring and everyone just seemed too drained to do anything or have any hype built. Even the JP chuuba.

Last year was way better. Kinda wish they set these up around times reasonable for all members so they aren’t dead inside wanting to sleep.

last year it was like 2 weeks of prep and building, everyone had a clearer idea of what they were building and why. a lot of people complaining about the horse race but it was the only fleshed out idea that wasnt just a repeat of last year.
it was rushed, and not everyone was included in the creation of the attractions/events. Groups were also haphazard, nearly half the people were solo, you had ENs mixed in without proper attention given to translation and communication. It felt like JPs were too scared to try interacting again, in any meaningful way, so that pulled a lot of the allure of "everyone playing together"vhx4m

If you take it as its own event it had its moments but if you compare it to last year's summer festival then ya it was a noticeable step down. Coco Grad buff, first time meetings between Myth members and many JP/ID members, a much more elaborate preparation with more sites to see, not overshadowed by ongoing Rust saga, etc.

Still looking forward to the eventual Mechanico clip film of it as there was just way too much to follow as usual with these big events.

I was pretty annoyed with the EN members completely ignoring Choco's stall. Gura, Ame, Bae and Fauna sat around Mio's stall for a solid 20 minutes and there were a few occasions where Choco had her camera pointed directly at Gura. Japanese is a clusterfuck of a creole language (Japanese + Chinese + English + Korean) featuring multiple different readings of the same words and three different writing styles all mashed together. To date, Elira Pendora still hasn't stopped complaining about kanji even after a year of vtubing for a Japanese company. Throw in the fact that their own populace is quasi-illiterate to the point where their own former prime minister couldn't read kanji, and you wind up having to face the reality that the language is fucked to the point of needing reform.

You could say almost the exact same shit about English, including the part about having illiterate leaders in several English speaking counties. And while the English writing system is a hell of a lot easier than Japanese, it also decided to not only pull words from other languages, but also grammar, to the point that the only way you can know the correct pronunciation/conjugation/prefix/suffix/etc for words is if you know which language it actually originated from, or you have it shoved in your face constantly (which is the same way people learn Kanji).

Grammar and sentence structure are fundamentals + basic hiragana and katakana which are all easily learnable within a fortnight or a month.
After that, pure exposure is the next step.
My start was watching Pegor stream MGS3 while understanding fuck all, but over time certain words and phrases will stand out to you. You look them up and learn their meaning, and once that's said again on stream you'll go "hey, I know that word!".
Over time you get more and more terms into your vocab and you start to understand more and more, until one day you realize you've been watching a JP stream without subtitles and have no trouble with understanding anything.

This is a slow and tedious process though, but back when EN didn't exist, JPs were the only chuuba streams around, so we pushed through it.
There are probably easier methods around nowadays, but diving deep like this will ensure that once you learn something, you won't forget it.

I know you want to pretend this is possible (it can never be due to Kiara), but it becomes less possible with every extra hour the event lasts and this was a day-long event. The reason they don't invite everyone is exactly so nobody is forced to be there because that will just result in a bunch of unhappy people who want to sleep. You can literally never plan a single event assuming people will be normally awake during it since many members in EN and JP don't have "awake when the sun's out, asleep when it's dark" personal sleep schedules to begin with. There's plenty of times EN's can't collab with anyone because they are sleeping but on paper they should be wide awake because everyone in their part of the world is in the middle of the day.

EN's just refuse to make up their mind on this stuff, should they be allowed to refuse every invitation they are given because they don't like the pressure or should the JP's just do open invitations so nobody feels pressured? The festival can't have come out of nowhere because there were so many streams leading up to it. Honestly, it's kinda funny how completely Kiara dropped the shtick that she even watches Pekora.

EN's like Ina had proper dates planned. And Lui more than included Kronii and Mumei, they were just tired and wouldn't have wanted to be the center of attention all the time anyway. She included them no less than Iroha or Roboco (who was a last minute addition). It was actually refreshing getting them trying to interact with the JP's and taking part in the events rather than talking over everyone with Irys...well, Kronii did that a bit with Gura but Lui allowed her to leave so it wasn't a huge bother. This was the first event where it seemed like the EN's (like Kronii and Mumei) actually did understand what was going on and it's because it was casual rather than them having short attention spans because it's an event with rules and official explanations all the time like the sports fest and they didn't need to be "streamers" every second. Lui even ended her stream because Council left even though she and Iroha continued with the festival for a long time after that.

Iroha wasn't even in view for plenty of the stream and not talking unless spoken to. There were plenty of moments centered around Kronii and Mumei from Lui's perspective. Kronii went along with the horror house and Lui and Iroha kept pushing her to take a leadership role, Lui kept her stream focused on Mumei of all people when she left to go feed her dog even though everyone else left and there was no reason to stay behind with Mumei at all. She even let them do the entire watermelon smashing event despite them being terrible at it. Your anger is that she didn't speak to them in English (something they clearly didn't mind, Kronii had no trouble communicating and Mumei has recently been trying to get better at JP communication), but to pretend she ignored them is retarded. The problem with the stream was it was 6 people while most of the others were 1-4 people. It meant nobody short of Lui herself is going to get the protagonist treatment (Chloe as well because she also streamed her perspective).

It's amazing that these people can consider themselves Hololive fans when they follow EN Holos that don't even stream most days of the week and yet in all that downtime they never consider looking at other streams going on. Botan, Towa and Pekora explained what they were thinking in the first stream ages ago where they officially kicked everything off. That they don't want to pressure people and whoever wants to come can come. Where do you think all these stalls and events came from? This was all newly built. There were many streams about it. Just say you didn't watch the stream. You don't have to pretend. We get it, you don't want to watch a stream on a JP's channel or one that isn't exclusively in English but if you were a fan of Kronii and Mumei but don't hate Hololive, this was the best you were going to get. The standard you are setting this up against is every single other event like this where Kronii fucks off and ruins everyone else's streams by roleplaying with Irys. That is the gold standard you are angry only got reenacted for like half an hour with Gura.

At least complain about things that actually happened, like the fact Kronii and Mumei wanted to leave and sleep so they were always planning to dip after the fireworks and most of their time was spent on the horseraces, not realizing that for the others the plan was then to do all the stalls after the fireworks. The problem wasn't that they were ignored but that they left before seeing most of the stalls.

I blame EN management for that, they must have been very haughty and snobby when Myth debuted and was on fire and they thought they run the show now, hence the girls made their own shitty MC server instead of integrate on the JP one.

years later the EN server is still mostly a backwater where the big activity to do is still fucking reinventing the wheel remaking shit other servers already did for basic utilities and very very little building actual cool shit. If Gura for example hopped on the JP in 2020 and was given infinite prismarine and as much quartz as she wanted ASAP, she might have had a slightly better chance of making Atlantis by now, especially because several JPs would probably offer to help and it'd become a collab project. many big projects on the server in fact were collabs (the aquamarine boat, gen5 house, Pekoland etc) which explains how such epic things got built. meanwhile ENs basically don't collab much together in MC on any structure. Gura and Mori (of all people) did try making that theme park a while back which was actually a cool idea but it's still unfinished.

Again, please feel free to complain about things that happened (like too much horseraces). Not things that didn't.

15 minutes we have Lui betting on horseraces with Mio. Kronii and Mumei were involved in this but this specific timestamp is all about Lui and Mio, not Roboco/Chloe/Iroha either.

30 minutes is Kronii being the center of attention at Choco's stall with Chloe begging for her to love her as well. It was a cute ongoing Kronii flirtation that continued for a while, also involving Lui to make it a triangle. Unlike the usual event streams where she does this, it actually fit the context.

45 minutes is Lui, Kronii and Iroha going through Miko's horror house. They pushed to keep her involved and treated her as the senpai and it was fun.

1 hour, Lui is running around alone and only Chloe (who is also streaming) is also talking but based on the voicechat you can hear Chloe's stream is trying to involve Mumei and Kronii and talking to them while Lui is off on her own. Iroha isn't even around in the chat anymore and Roboco is also very silent. But after a couple minutes it goes back to everyone flirting with Kronii.

1:15 is more horse races, Iroha is still gone. It's pretty slow but there's a little chatter from Mumei and Kronii.

1:30 continues horse races. Kronii and Mumei are awkwardly cheering with the JP girls betting on a horse.

1:45 is Lui riding a horse, so she's in voice chat with the other racers like Koyori, Pekora, Towa. Lui is the worst horse racer ever and loses badly, it's cute though. This is where Chloe having a stream also could help you if you hate Lui and just want EN's.

2 hours is the long process of people standing in line for the final bet on horses. It's long and awkward for everyone. Lui is just on her own with Chloe (the other streamer) being the only other one talking.

2:15 is Lui and Chloe playing slots, Iroha, Roboco, Kronii and Mumei are all gone because they are still in line at Mio's talking to her (whose stream you can watch).

2:30 is watching horse races, Mumei and Kronii are talking with their JP's like Chloe.

2:45 is Lui off on her own excited to get her winnings for the final horse race.

3 hours is Lui guiding Chloe through watermelon maze. Chloe dies, then Mumei and Kronii awkwardly do the same event for way too long while Lui and the others spectate.

3:15 is Mumei/Kronii only with others spectating. It's very cringe because Kronii doesn't want to die and Mumei doesn't want to troll.

Then the stream ends because Kronii and Mumei leave and Lui and Iroha continue to hang around at the festival for hours without streams following them. Kronii and Mumei were no more left out than Roboco and Iroha. Kronii was definitely the most-involved of the six that wasn't streaming while Mumei was her standard self.

Yes, it's a failure of the JP side that the EN side has a reputation for not scheduling anything or paying attention to HoloJP. Even when this board was all about the festival, people were confused if certain EN's were going to show up because they didn't announce it and appeared in the background of a stream where they weren't advertised (Ame/Bae) or put up a stream at the last second (Gura). Why are you pretending to be upset over the lack of promotion of a branch you don't want to watch? None of the EN's made stalls for it but ID and JP did. Planning for the event literally was ongoing during that ID sports event, the JP's and ID's from that event worked on the festival on that same day. The EN's went back to forgetting Minecraft exists. The only EN who streams Minecraft is Fauna and she was busy with her XP farm and anniversary. Plus, in all this bitching about no hype, you have to exclusively be a fan of very specific EN's who don't like this stuff to have missed out on it which means you can't possibly be upset and are just trying to create drama because you think Hololive should revolve around your antisocial oshi. If you are a Kiara or Ina fan, you got full dates out of this. If you were a Gura fan, you got her to stream. Everyone liked Bae's stream as well but it got cut short due to technical problems. If you wanted to see EN's get out of their bubble, Kronii and Mumei did their best. But the core problem if you only like EN's as you do and not Hololive was just that most EN's don't like to stream their POV's and they want to sleep all the time. This happens at every event. Everyone in the EN-only audience was aware of the Mario Kart tournament and the EN's still collectively fucked over their fans in unison with that event, this was a huge improvement over that.

>hence the girls made their own shitty MC server instead of integrate on the JP one.
This is absolute bullshit, the girls didn't make shit, they where segregated from day 1, they had no input on that server at all.

And this just a laughable rrat, Kiara by her own admission had no interest in MC, she didn't know if she would play it beyond the first stream, hell that entire first stream is a goldmine of MC incompetence especially her insisting on playing 3rd person, to this day Kiara has no idea on how to mine for things properly, how to create resource farms among many other things.

To even attempt to blame the shitty EN server on Kiara is really something.

Maybe because it was a grand event? Mr N3.

IIRC Ina has explained that her sleep schedule has been bizarre since before Hololive so JP Prime time isn't a problem for her.

>watch the stream
>kronii is talking constantly and having fun the entire time
>the first one who has to leave is roboco, not kronii or mumei
im convinced i live in a parallel world where /vt/ gets alternate universe versions of the same streams i watch

In fairness, the people complaining have never once claimed to have watched any of the streams.

I just wanna say that i believe this is the second time that Kaela reminded Gura about completing Atlantis. Kaela really does push for other holos to get their ass to work in a weird way and its fucking based.

>wonder what all the bitching is about because the event was fun
>realize it's just fags complaining about EN, again
Now it makes sense, and is not surprising. Watch chuuba that actually want to stream and participate next time.

Didnt even know there was an event going on because hololive and its talents are retards at promoting anything exciting.

Given her previous career, I can see her having no patience for slackers. Pretty based addition by Hololive
