Speaking of in-verse science, would it be possible to make homunculi or just artificial life in general? There's been lore (for chuubas, not this project) building in /mans/ and I'm wondering if I should implement that are just have it be an in-verse theological discussion?

Main issue with creating life is that the complexity of the glyph should follow the complexity of the action, and life is immensely complex, so I feel like a glyph to arrange the elements of life into life would be too difficult to do. Maybe if it's some kind of one-time/rare miracle?

I dont think the shape alone would be enough for that, he outer edges of the chuubanite cone would have to be coated with a material with a high VRI, or the chamber in the cannon where the charge is stored in would have to made of a high VRI material or coated in it. You seem to have used lead for this, which would probably work well.

However your particular design is probably not the most efficient one, but it is a good one as one of the early designs. I'd imagine later designs (when vitubia has achieved a tech level similar to our own) would probably include one-way reflective surfaces and very precise shapes inside the charge in order to allow the VFE excitation wave to bounce around the charge a bit before being focused in its entirety on the round to be fired. Would allow you to get a bigger bang from smaller charges, but it would probably consume them in their entirety in far fewer shots.

Anyways, i like the magic cannons, and I like your proposed terms.
Although the magic susceptibility leaves us with a little plot hole. If the Magical Susceptibility is dependent on higher Vitubium density, wouldnt noble gasses and elements that vitubium cannot bond with have a very low Magical Susceptibility and thus by extension, a very low VRI? Meaning that noble gasses and heavy metals are exceptionally bad at blocking magical radiation, which is the opposite of what it was supposed to be?

this would also mean that the highest VRI materials are chuubanite and vitubium themselves, unless ive somehow misunderstood.

Yeah, you are right there, if souls exist they should be explainable by the existing system, and you are also right that it would mean that they would have to be thought of as the concept of a person.
You probably wouldnt be able to isolate and associate the person-concept to a single glyph easily, unless they were a catalognaut, in which case it would be a lot easier I think, simply due to them having far more "presence" in the conceptual realm.
What would you suggest be the way to identify the target for the contract? The person-concept or a linking glyph (linking physical object to a vitium structure) are the best ideas for that that I can come up with. The latter could work with some new particle that can interact with both the physical realm and the vitium field. Which is why i proposed the tattoo idea, since vitubium itself is such a particle, so i thought a targetting glyph could work. Perhaps instead of a single targeting glyph, a series of glyphs are needed to mark the perimeters of the person in the vitium field. Glyphs, being made of vitubium should be readable from both sides.

Paragraphs, you are the face of chuubanite autism by now (which i mean as a compliment). You wont be forgotten as you are probably the person who has had the single most influence on the system. Im probably a close second. Besides, most of the quantum interpretation is just my attempt to try to make your sometimes difficult to understand explanations into something a bit more tangible. Its a translation of your work, not a replacement of it, even though it has unintentionally opened up a lot of new areas for the magic system, it is still fundamentally founded on your work.

You got it perfectly, the cannon is meant as a design that has been stumbled upon rather than engineered for best results. That's often how those things happen, they find something that works without really understanding why. Deadbeat engineers circa 1130 VTE are hard at work trying to figure out how funneling the impulse down a taper increases the power density...

And I have an answer for this plot hole! First, you are correct, pure vitubium would have the highest VRI; this makes sense to me because as the wave travels through vitubium, it has interactions with more particles, which slows it down more.

Now, regarding the plot-hole, this is when we bring in yet another analogy to real-world physics: Dielectrics versus metals. Dielectrics tend to be transparent to visible light, while metals are opaque.
In this analogy, dielectrics are materials that contain chuubanite (henceforth "chuubanitic materials"). The vacuum also counts as a dielectric (IRL, glass, plastics or diamonds are dielectrics). Metals correspond to lead, platinum group metals, noble gasses. Let's use your term of "dampeners" for them, though I think we can probably come up with something even better later.

Whenever a Vitium wave hits a material, one of three things can happen. Absorption, reflection, or transmission. Chuubanitic materials mostly transmit and reflect the waves, depending on their VRI. And this is important, no matter how high their VRI is, they still tend to transmit the wave instead of absorbing it. Indeed, when the wave passes through the chuubanitic material, it excites the Vitubium and loses energy this way (though the Vitubium can also increase the wave's energy in the right conditions, but that's besides the point), but only a tiny fraction is absorbed.

Dampeners on the other hand, do mostly absorb the wave. The behavior is completely distinct, and ties into why Vitubium does not bond to them. Now, here is the spicy part.

Vitubium and dampeners have a Vitium wave absorption spectrum. All other materials simply don't have an interaction with them.

But the absorption spectrum of the two is very different. Dampeners can absorb Vitium waves of almost any energy, except perhaps very low energy. But Vitubium requires the wave to have a much higher energy to begin absorbing it.

Consider a Vitium wave with energy X. The Vitium wave is not absorbed by the Vitubium because this would require quanta of energy greater than X. In other words, the wave lies in the band gap of the Vitubium's absorption spectrum. However, in the case of dampeners, the Vitium wave of energy X does have an energy level that lies in the absorption spectrum of the dampener. Thus, it is absorbed.

I think this is a good way to explain why dampeners exist at all, while tying them into of the rest of the system. Cuz in a way, why dampeners are a thing is kind of handwaved at the moment.

interestingly enough, it depends on the inhibitory process you want for the contract to actually take effect. if you want to influence someone's mind, you might have an easier time causing precise changes through the soul, rather than needing to learn neuroscience specifically, since the concept of a person includes their body, and thus their brains and how their neural wiring effects their personality. you can still affect the mind through physical means, but if you refer to the physical construct, you'll have to think of a physical inhibitory effect. have you ever seen shin sekai yuri?

tattoos could definitely work, and they'd probably help strengthen any connection made considerably, but i don't want to force that kind of thing onto everyone if they want to just be able to access the more advanced form of chuubanite magic without covering themselves in tattoos. i think if you can establish dna as an artificial activator substance, you can have a single small glyph targeting someone based on an area with chuubanite effected by that activator substance.
i said before that glyphs and activator substances can have interactions with each other, including having unique interactions based on whether they are active or inactive etc, so that concept could be used to at least reduce how large a user-identifying glyph would have to be. indeed, you might be able to do it remotely as long as you tied the glyph to the dna. chuubanite being common enough to be inside most people to some degree is also an expectation, though, otherwise they'd need to ingest it to a degree.

i'll take it as intended, but people have been describing the project we have been doing with chuubanite as a rework, with a few people telling me anything that doesn't make it into the official document will be counted as non-canon. part of me feels worried about it, and another part of me feels guilty for thinking that way. plus, while i think i can understand the main aspects of what you and the engineering deadbeat talk about, i think i understand nuclear physics and philosophy more than quantum mechanics and engineering. i will try to keep up, but i worry the project might move on past my ability to keep up. don't let me slow it down, though, i just worry about some things, i guess. still, thank you for your words, and thank you for having these conversations with me. they are always quite enjoyable.
