that's literally not true, you only need to play one character and do different kinds of builds with the cards you obtained after every battle. For example, you choose the dragon character, you can go for a glass cannon all damage build, defense build or a balanced build to finish off the last boss. For each final boss you battle, you'll ascend to another level and from there, the rounds would get much more harder. It's a game of maths and calculating risks in the end.

It's more easier than hades when starting out since they don't block stuff from being played

As for whether it's a buff or not... that's a little hard to determine. It's a roguelike, which isn't necessarily a buff or a debuff. It's an extremely well-received game though, so I know people will tune in just to see at least the first playthrough. If you're bad at the game or don't bother to understand the rules / how to build a deck (hint, don't take every shitty card you can just to have a larger deck. it's absolute cancer when you have 40+ cards), I could see people losing interest
However, the fact that you can have chat interact with you to help you choose relics, cards, and paths does seem like a buff. I'd expect something like a 1.25x multiplier in ccv for playing this game the first time, where .75x is a "debuff game" and 1.5x is a "buff game"
