Years of watching anime, playing nip vidya and listening to japanese songs have made me somehow understand japanese.

>> No.31177065

>>31176830
How well do you think 'nip vidya' translates in deepL?

>> No.31177149

Following along often isn't that difficult:
A lot of their reactions are understandable by knowing a few words and context/having play the games before, in some cases there's the help of some fan translations, not knowing entirely what's going on can be fun too since you tend to use some imagination to fill the gaps.
About why we start watching them. Well, You can argue that their kind of charismatic personas, style of interacting with fans and difference on how they react to things and behave it's only really possible for JP vtubers.
That feels for us like a fresh, exotic, charming and funny experience.
Eventually as you keep watching them you fall in love with their quirks and as you learn more about them you start having a experience closer than you have with your native oshis.

1: I'm attempting to learn the language to understand the Japanese stuff I want to read/watch/listen to and vtubers can be an excellent source of language input.
2: I can actually find Japanese vtubers who have played or are currently playing the weird games I love and want to watch as part of reason 1
3: there's something about Japanese that I just find pleasant to listen to.
4: I have yet to find an en vtuber I have any desire to watch, I've subbed to so many over the years and I always end up going back to jps

I enjoyed uni, and Chinese wasn't a waste any more than the handful of other subjects I learned and enjoyed, but don't use regularly. It's a fun language and there's a lot to like about the country. However, I don't trust the people readd there in any business relationship. I think they have lived in such a low-trust society, for so long, that completely untrustworthy behavior feels normal or expected to them.
