Doomposting is worse than any other type of shitposting, and it IS shitposting. A gaypost you can just scroll past, same with image spam, but incessant "Death to X" posting, doomposting timeloops where everyone blames different boogiemen for the things they dont like in the thread, and constant begging for the death of the thread is way worse as it starts to poison your mind, slowly indoctrinating you to think the same way they do, and then you also start repeating their spiel, blaming your own boogiemen for problems that exists mostly in your own head in the form of what you think the thread SHOULD be and how you think we'd get there to get there, which never aligns with everyone else's opinions.

Doomposting is good only for the single instance where it wakes people up to see an issue. When it devolves into a boogieman circlejerk it becomes an issue worse than the problem it is pretending to be worried about.

While doomposting for the sake of doomposting is absolutely stupid, I don't think that's really the case here, thread and GC activity keeps going down, we had at least one public abayo in superchats a few days ago, and who knows how many more silent ones happened for us to get to this point.

I get that it's not a fun thing to talk about but it's necessary to at least try to adress and understand the problems of why this is happening.

It's like someone came up to you screaming that your house is on fire and you just tell them to relax because it's only the 1st floor, no need to talk about it until the fire gets here, just wait it out.

I havent watched many myself but I found the Gura one to be pretty cute.
The game itself isn't so interesting to me as the original minecraft server vibes you would get, where you would get impromptu collabs and interactions that you would rarely see.

I think that a length of 1-3 months is optimal, but much longer than 3 months or shorter than 1 month would risk either becoming boring again or becoming too hectic for me personally to enjoy.

I think it could be fun to see the market completely unleashed for one season. 10000x multicoin with a flat 5-15% tax, and preferably no cooldown, but I don't know how much that would fuck with the server hamster. Make the game like the real stock market for a bit, with unlimited multicoin cap.

No, it is my fault, not entirely but in good part. I saw the community closing in on itself and instead of just stopping it I tried to do things like weekend only aggies. I was kinda hoping that by being in charge I could avoid the worse, but I just made it worse.

I'm not really someone who has been playing this game for a long time and I only knew about this because of a friend, heck, I only checked here because I remembered this thread existed, but reading this thread and your group affecting the thread is just... Sad.

I've been part of other basket weaving generals' groups; some became big, some stayed the same or simply died; regardless of that, we have always separated the group with the thread. I don't have any good suggestion or even a contribution to this topic, but, since it looks like /nasfaqg/ as a whole consists of notable posters or posters that /nasfaqg/ needs to stay alive, why not let them, in this case, the group, post here more and talk about just anything? this is the last one, just one last clarification since I've been flooded in DMs about it.
first, the anon posts are not mine
but, I remember in the early days of the aggie. Everyone suddenly became friends with everyone so fast. And then the topic of a discord was brought up. Everyone agreed that making a discord was gay, but, that once the day came and nasfaq would die, we'd make a discord for everyone to join and everyone to keep in touch.
Keyword: everyone.
And then a couple months ago I learn that not only a discord as been made, not only it's purpose now anyway, since it's a repurposed apex server was for people to keep in touch after nasfaq, BUT, that not everyone was invited. By design.
That's why I'm angry. The discord was supposed to keep everyone in touch once nasfaq died, but instead, it's only keeping a select amount of people in touch.
That "you can just ask" misses the point. There was people who absolutely should have been invited even if it was "just for friends", and DM'd me hurt about having been forgotten once they learned about it. All I want is the original promise: a server open to all to keep in touch after nasfaq has died which let's face it is more or less now, no "invite only if you're in the know" bullshit. like I said earlier, it being openly advertised but "ask X for the invite is fine", I get just dropping the link is sensitive

I won't talk more about it, or answer more about it in the thread. Not because I don't want to but because I promised to not make a shitstorm out of this and I already talked too much. I don't want a shitstorm, I want to avoid the *very obvious* problem of only inviting some to the after party but not all.

I think a server like that, with "ask XYZ" for invite is fine, but I am not convinced of the ultimate death of the thread or the game. A place to keep in touch with those who have moved on 8man, my beloved, but at the same time I don't want for it to really have NASFAQ or NASFAQ-related topics, since I believe that despite its thorny history, the thread can still be fun. Ideally, I'd envision it as a place to play games with the community.

At the same time, personally, I can't shake the feeling that even if it does open up, the problem you're outlining here will remain, as people will inevitably make smaller personal servers for closer friend groups or specific subtopics.
