The general rule of thumb is Twitch if your content is primarily based on livestreaming and YouTube if your content is primarily pre-recorded and edited.

>Do you think there's an audience for X, Y, Z content?
First, ask yourself if you would watch a streamer of your skill and experience. Second, do a check on social media and look to see if other streamers are already creating similar content. Don't limit yourself to vtubers, include traditional real life streamers to scope out a potential audience.

What is the minimum Mbps for download and upload to have a decent stream. I live in an area where there's no access to cable or fiber-optic in the foreseeable future and am currently on wireless broadband. I think the fastest I can get is 50 Mbps, but it is quite expensive. Been holding out on Starlink, but not sure when or if it will even be available in my area.

depends on what you play but 3mbps@720p should be watchable most of the time. the mistake many make is streaming high detail&movement games at 1080p. that will look like shit even at the highest allowed rate

ASMR is limited interest coom content. If you do it you have to go all in coomer baiter or you're better off not doing it at all. Lean in to the big wet sloppy kisses and mouth sounds. You alienate other viewers and compromise your brand even if you do it ironically or try to keep it tame. If you talk to streamers outside of the ASMR and VT spheres this will become very clear. That is what I have learned.

The model helps A LOT to get people to click on you if it's well-designed and nice. The more exposure you get on your channel (whether it’s Twitch or YouTube) the more viewers you get. The more viewers the get, the more exposure you get. And so on and so forth.
YouTube is better for getting more viewers relative to your follower count, mainly because people don’t have to go to a totally different website to see your stream content and people are usually on YouTube anyway, but Twitch is better for discoverability (that is, if you aren’t getting picked up by the YouTube Algorithm yet; if you are there’s no reason to move to Twitch desu)

How do I save a friendship with my oshi when it's based on a lie?
A few months ago, as a mean spirited joke I made an account where I pretended to have cancer (left picrel). Afterwards I went on my main account and said I knew the alt account, how he was a dear friend of mine, and how much impact she had on him during his last days.
She herself said that the alt account "lit a fire under her", and solidified her passion for streaming. So all and all it's a net positive, but I'm starting to feel extremely guilty about the situation, and want to come clean while still maintaining the friendship.
These past few months this streamer has grown on me, and I care deeply about them. They are so kind and compassionate to every single viewer, and the last thing I want to do is break her trust.
How do I gently diffuse this situation?

Does it help? I dunno, it seems like maybe they grow up with Asian culture (korean/japanese) which is what the main audience for these vtubers like, because... they are asian.
Its easier for their enthusiasm flr the culture to come across as geniune because they are part of the culture, while other races becoming japanophiles and weeaboos is seen as cringe, there needs to be a limit (and i think most get rejected for being cringe like that). So... I kinda wanna start doing this vtuber thing, but I'm conflicted on what voice I should use...

The only reason you would want to debut males from a business perspective is if you believe that debuting new females will only serve to ultimately leach viewers from your current caste of females ultimately leading to a net 0 gain in audience. So the debut of males can sort of be seen as expanding into a new market. Only niji and holo really could reasonably think that this is true in the en market and they seem like the only ones willing to debut males.

That said, holopro and niji seem to be ramping up male debuts dramatically in the last few months. And they are by far the trend setters in the industry so its not out of the realm of possibility that a small corp might just try to follow the trend and recruit a male here or there. The one advantage to recruiting a male is that there is probably a much bigger crop of them to choose from compared to females, and its probably easier to find a diamond in the rough (at least in terms of absolute talent) for a small corp among male applicants than the heavily picked over pool of female applicants.

Maybe. There are probably more safe ways to avoid the cannibalization of your audience though. One big problem that even corps with just a few talent have is that they all stream at the same time, even just being able to ensure that they will stream more different hours of the day will help avoid that problem. Though it might be difficult to convince a talent to stream at sub optimal times. You can also just look for different kinds of talent when scouting recruits, or by having a talent bring in their already established viewerbase in. All of these of options are probably less risky than recruiting males.

Depends on what your goal is. A great voice can get you a small audience by itself, but you will still have to put in the hours to grow an audience. If you were female I would say you could get quite a big audience pretty easily with a great voice. As a male no audience will come easily, you will need to be smart with shilling yourself and also put quite a bit of time into streaming. Going the ASMR rout is probably the fastest way to a larger audience if all you have is a good voice. Otherwise you need to bring something else to the table.
