Interesting. Read the Phoenix rentry, it is quite interesting and I like the inclusion of an unique good produced by them (the wax). Not sure how effective terrorism is in this era since it mostly relies on scaring the public, but I haven't read what he's suggesting, maybe it's more of a radical assasination/bombing plot.
>Mans going for the island
Personally, I'm glad, I didn't want to really shill for the island since I wanted for the decision to be up to them.

Anon, due to the housing crisis I'd welcome living anywhere rent-free, even your mind.
>>30350653
I'd handwave a lot of science here if I were you, since it doesn't make a lot of sense biologically unless the chimeras are made from extremely closely related species.
>>30356145
I have a lot of experience as a GM, but there is absolutely no way I'd find the time necessary to commit to it. That being said, if the timezones are right, I'd like to participate or help with setting it up. You don't even need a very complex system, just an universal rules-light system like Fate: Accelerated or even one-page systems like Risus would work. In the end, the mechanics are the agreement between the GM and the players to determine the outcomes of actions might or might not succeed, they don't need to be complicated as long as the lore and the storytelling takes first place.
>>30358385

We should make a list of possible books and authors to inspire certain subjects, like how /meat/bro reads alot of Cosmere and a whole bunch of esoteric stuff to help with his magic system writings and how Ri2ner has an ecoterrorist propaganda novel in his library.
I've mostly only read Thomas Ligotti but he doesn't seem to pair well with any of the nations except maybe /wah/ which has no reps and even then, while I enjoy his writings, I completely disagree with his philosophy of nihilism nanora.

I meant, regarding the DNA manipulation. You might want to move away from molecular biology justifications to more chuubanite-based ones. Combining them by mashing them together likely wouldn't work for anything other than very closely related species. Patchwork organisms are alright from that standpoint, kind of like grafting is in plants.

I do have a lot of references. Both physical and digital.
Other than Cosmere and the Cthulhu Mythos, inspirations I've used for my works include;
>Light fantasy media like magical girl anime
>dystopian media like Fahrenheit 451 and WE
>atmospheric videogames like Bioshock, Warframe, and Dishonored
>lore heavy merchandise based media like Warhammer and Bionicle
>Online series like SCP Foundation
And finally, a shit ton of actual works made from, and criticising, irl weirdoes both historical and living today. Mostly legacy knowledge from the previous project I had been in but old habits die hard. What else am I going to do with knowledge about '20th century ariosophy and theosophy'?

Something like picrel? It can be done if that's what you want, although I don't think that aligns with the settlement map very well.
As for fog... well, I'll try to fit that in, but that might be difficult. The closest I can get is probably some kind of orographic lifting i.e. fog forming due to an increase in elevation, usually on the hillside, like cloud forest and such, but part of me suspect that you want them to be on the coast instead.

>>30368257
Yes, but having 3x plant growth speed doesn't automatically translate to needing only 1/3 effort to grow the same amount of crops, which is why I suggested something less intensive to suit /risu/'s lack of existing intensive agriculture and centralised government.

Prince-Consort of Oireau

Tall, 6 foot 4 and well built at 220 pounds of muscle.
Abnormally strong, can bend a coin with his fingers and break a horse shoe with his hands
Stubborn as an ox, hard to change his mind.
Head strong.
Unafraid of death

"I was born the first son of a great conqueror and a beloved Empress. I was the crown prince to many titles when I married the Queen of Oiseau. When my father died, I became many different people. Kaiser and Archduke Ferdinand of Elira. King Pomernius of Pomerania, Grand Prince Augustus of Syrenia. All of these names carry different means, but behind them is the same story." >picrel
Oh, well, that works too.
>fog
The difficulty mostly primarily from how fogs are formed, namely the air being saturated with water (the same as cloud, really). Usually, this happens when air becomes saturated with water, or when the air is suddenly cooled (cold air can hold less water). This is why fog often forms on sea (water evaporation from the sun... although there are also other factors), over some forest (evaporation from plants), or on hillsides (rise of air reduces its temperature).
Upon further research, I think we can actually justify coastal fog if it has a lot of breaking waves and kelp near the coast, as they add salt and iodine in the air that helps water condense into fog, which is then carried by wind to the coastal land (which also fits the seasonal idea).
>tropical forest
If you want to be pedantic, there isn't actually a different category for tropical forest and subtropical forest - rather, the difference comes from their trees. For tropical rainforest (the archetypical "tropical forest"), the trees are evergreen, meaning that they don't shred their leaves (which has implications on the ecosystem, but I digress), while seasonal tropical forest ("subtropical forest") shred their leaves during the dry season. For the south to have an evergreen forest, it will have to stay wet all-year, since that's why makes tree shred their leaves. Fortunately, it can be done - one idea I have is another mountain ridge to the south, which will increase rainfall south of the ridge. While the rainfall occur mostly in wet season, the sheer amount of water should allow the land to become waterlogged (basically becoming wetland, which is also hard to traverse), thus allowing evergreen broadleaf trees to thrive (as the land remains wet even during dry season).

Pretty sure that the Black Fleet isn't stretched out a lot, since the members primarily take care of the waters next to their land, same as they usually would. The main difference is the tariffs, which are brought down to zero. Other nations and merchants which also cross those trade paths will fall prey to piracy too, with the league being less affected since they made themselves a harder target. Pirates would have to specifically target harder and stronger convoys for less gain, which kind of goes against the idea for everyone except maybe Watamelons.

The Northern red zone was more intended as being a hot bed of hostile tribes and stuff rather than the environment itself being an issue (with the mountain providing a buffer).
Something that I read being talked about and which inspired me was that thing about a large 'cold' crater, to which I wanted to add a really deep and intricate cavern system underneath. That, if anywhere, is where chuubanite concentration on the island would be at its highest. But that feels like something like that would veer off from standard geology. In a nutshell, what can be considered Outer Gods are those that exert their influence beyond our world, are vaguely understood, and thus occupy the "Heavenly Realm," which itself is little understood by the denizens of Vtubia. In a meta sense, these are companies (and management to a lesser extent), social media, and streaming platforms. If the gods ad goddesses we worship are primarily characterized by their ability to affect the world, then the so-called "Outer Gods" are defined by their ability to affect the gods themselves.
The nature of the relationship between the Chuubanite Gods and the numerous Outer Gods is complex, as the latter is comprised of much more complex beings which can be considered unfathomable to present-day Vtubia's view of the world, though the Outer Gods are not above interacting with people and vice versa.

The Blue Bird is well-known amongst those who study the movement of the heavens, and multiple countries even have it tied into local legends and mythos. It is said that it sings in whispers the words of the gods and can deliver the prayers of the masses to the gods in kind, but it is also possesses something of a trickster reputation as the words it delivers to eagerly awaiting contacts may be those of disarray, causing some to go mad and others to incite strife among the people. It is considered blasphemous by some as it sees no distinction between gospel and Deep Scripture and has no qualms with revealing the secrets of the gods, unleashing the jannies' rays of light on hapless worshippers.

Worship of Outer Gods is not uncommon in the schizo wastes of Vtubia. Many of the unruly giants are noted worshippers of the Blue Bird seeking to use its forbidden knowledge to sow discord. There exists the Cult of Numbers which eschews traditional idol worship in lieu of attempting to interpret the esoteric movement of the various Outer Gods and their influence on the corporeal gods of our world. In a way, Vtubia itself can be considered an Outer God in its own right, or at least a component of one. Jannies are thought to be an aspect of this worldly god, heavenly lights to purge Deep Scripture and schizo practices as a sort of defense mechanism of the Heavenly Realm.

We finally made it, after half a year at sea, we finally made it to the Holoempire. It was quite the journey to say the least. Half the crew was sick at one point, we had to ruin away from some cannibal ships, got blown off course by 1000 km before managing to make it here.

Tachibana when he sighted land shouted, "Our Odessey is at an end, finally we are here."

The whole crew erupted into cheers at the sighting. Finally, we would be able to get ourselves some action in what a boring journey had been. Anchoring in a empty bay, we sent out foraging parties into the wilderness to try to get some supplies. It was quite concerning when these men did not return from what was just an ordinary task.

Concerned, Tachibana sent myself and Fischer with 25 to go see what happened to our sailors. After a 2 km walk, we saw a beautiful village that reminded us of home. Cherryblossoms every where and in full bloom! We walked into the village and were greeted with great hospitality by the locals.

A local shrine maiden asked us how we were doing and if we needed anything, to which I replied we were looking for two foraging parties that had went missing. I also brought up the City of Gold, being what we were searching for.

"Oh those men? They are enjoying themselves now. You lot look tired yourselves. Come with me."

Sure enough, the Shrine Maiden led us to a brothel where the foragers were getting their rocks off with the beautiful women in rooms. Fischer, with his eyes looking like they were about to come out of his head said "OHHHH zese women are beautiful, how much für fun timez?"

A beautiful woman came up to him touching him seductively and said "35p, or whatever. I like you sailor types"

"Ja, perfect! Lead ze way beautiful!"

The two departed into a back room and it was quite horrifying to hear Fischer in the act to be honest. I was asked myself and I declined, instead choosing to talk more with the Shrine Maiden.

"So... have you heard of the City of Gold before?" I asked inequistively

"No such city in these lands, although there is a rumor that there is one in the lands of-" Suddenly screaming was heard in the Village. Something bad was happening so I shouted, "Get your asses out here now you bloody wankers, we have a situation!" and pounded on a gong.

The men scrambled out, half dressed and shocked. Suddenly a man entered the brothel holding a musket and pointed it at my face.

"Surrender now, Peko." he yelled at me.

I put my hands up, I was out of luck here when suddenly Fisher came out of nowhere, screaming like a mad man, wearing nothing but his belt. With a glass bottle, Fisher broke it over the Soldiers head and the man fellow to the ground in pain. Fischer then Grabbed his knife and screamed "You Motherfucker ruined my goodze timez. You will die!!!" and plunged it into the man's neck. Blood went everywhere.

I order the rest of the men to get their clothes on and prepare to evacuate. The Shrine Maiden screamed "It-It's the Pekopeople!"

Fortunately, no more of these Peko people came while the men got ready. As I prepare to leave, the shrinemaiden kissed me on the lips and told me "Be safe and come again soon~"

Feeling lovestruck, I stumbled out into the streets to see pure chaos. These Pekopeople were everywhere and were killing everything in sight screaming "Peko Peko Peko Peko OGEY RRAT"

I ordered everyone to close formation and start to head back to the ship. Some of the Pekopeople attacked us, wounding two of our men and killing another but I reckon we killed more of them than they did of us. It was fortunate that these Pekopeople were so undisciplined that they barely noticed us escaping

When we got back to the ship, we were dead tired and terrified for our lives. Explosions could be heard everywhere and we rushed onto the boat.

Fischer screamed "We need to get ze fuck out of here now!" as the two wounded men were carried aboard. We can only hope that our killed comrade Ozawa will be given a proper burial by the Sakurans.

That night as we were sailing away, we all had a good laugh about the brothel scene and Fischer. Fischer, embarrased said "Well, what would you do if you were having the time of yer life and some arsehole ruined it?"

The City of Gold was not in Pekoland nor Sakuran, the Kingdom of Atlantis was our next stop. What could possibly go wrong?

Didn't you yourself say that you couldn't control your forests till kronies arrived? Agriculture is exactly that. Yes your crops might grow at 3x the speed, but so do the bushes and weeds among them, and trees constantly encroaching on the edges of your farmland. If you can't control your own nature to secure land, you ain't producing much, even with magic growth speed.

I was thinking Outer Gods could also be an explanation as to how chuubanite from lost goddesses can retain its power, or that chuubanite itself is theorized to be residue from beyond Vtubia. Being of primordial starstuff, /OG/ chuubanite would be exceptionally potent and powerful despite the fact that worship of the Four Heavenly Kings has all but completely disappeared in this realm.

/meat/bro! Could you clarify a few things about catalognauts for me just so that the idea I have in my head isn't incorrect? I understand that they function the same as chuubanite but something I was wondering was how far this goes, in previous chuubanite discussions we've talked about how different chuubanite alignments can have multiple effects and that they can be combined together with differently aligned chuubanites of similar concept, if this is still applied then how would that look in action for a catalognaut? My assumption with catalognauts was that they can use normal weapons, armor, and even their own bodies like they were an alloy or pure chuubanite material but would this only be to the extent of what the catalognaut knew about their own chuubanite?
Also, would a catalognaut need to do certain rituals to refill their reserve of heavenly energy (sorry kronie I forgot what term you used) and would that be due to whatever nation they were a part of?

Not /meat/bro, but my understanding was that catalognauts are not like chuubanite, rather they have a lot of chuubanite in or with them, in quantities big enough that it'd be harmful to most people. So their bodies and weapons don't act like chuubanite, but they're able to have a body and weapons with a lot of chuubanite while most people couldn't.
I take this to mean that as well as being able to do whatever normal humans can do, they can access more powerful versions of whatever magicks a certain chuubanite can do. For example, a Luknight catalognaut might be able to manipulate luna chuubanite to candify things on command, like the /meat/ catalognaut was able to control the vines.
As for filling up, based on the assumption their powers come from chuubanite there would have to be some mechanism for it to be replenished. It would be plausible that the catalognaut can simply absorb chuubanite from the environment passively, like Deadbeats do. Or maybe for some specific boosts, rituals would be needed.
Then for mixing chuubanites of varying affinities, I think that's on the table too, but as you say the catalognaut would need to have knowledge of all of them.

Oh, military and sea-related words would come in handy with a high frequency. Stuff like "Navy", "Fleet", "Ship", "Admiral", "sailor", and "Black". "Trade", "cannibal", "heresy", "blasphemous", "fire" would have immediate use. "Armor", "weapon", "cannon", "magic" as well. Also "steel", "hard" and "tough".
I could come up with lots more, but those would be most useful.

Late Spring 1123

The mayor’s jowls swayed intensely as he engulfed the food set before him. A bite of sweet bread, a desperate gulp of honey mead, a chunk of fish down his gullet, all while blabbering endlessly to his guests about everything and nothing. Cassandra was a big eater, but he was putting her to shame in that regard.

Noravera was still picking at her food, but she’d finished eating some time prior. She took a lull in the conversation to get a word in. “Thank you again for your hospitality, Sir Mayor. I hope our expedition is not disturbing your tranquil city too much.”

The important man shook his head vehemently. “Oh, Lady Jaggery, not at all, not at all, your visit is a source of joy. Such an exotic party, and headed towards the cold wastes with such a noble purpose. You deserve all the support you receive. If there is one thing we respect here in Himenth, it’s powerful warriors looking for selfless deeds.” He punctuated his effusion by closing his lips around a sweet roasted cherry potato.

Rear Admiral Magnus spoke a well-practiced sentence with a rather monotone voice. “The schizo threat preys on us all; pushing back against it is a natural duty for men and women of strength.”

Words escaped the Mayor’s lips in between food inhalations: “You know, my good Sir Admiral Magnus, I have some schizo experience myself nanora.”

Shige let himself enjoy the silence for a second. Then, “Is that so, Mister Appleton? Do tell us how that came to occur, I’m curious. We are still quite far from their raiding territories, are we not?”. There was a twinge of genuine pain in the Admiral’s eyes, as he intentionally, in full possession of his faculties, asked the Mayor to talk more. On the other side of the table, there was at least one member of their party genuinely enjoying themselves. Fruce was savoring every bite of the grilled Luunish fillets brought to them from the Mayor’s kitchens. Cassandra didn’t much get the hype. The texture near the skin was kind of interesting, and the meat beneath near melted in her mouth, but... Like everything here, the damn sugar. According to some of Akira’s papers, the Luna chuubanite was supposed to propagate less far into the ocean than the Mori-type, something about a repulsion between salt and the substance. Cassandra just hoped there would be some nice, sugar free, salty seafood to fish in the Arctic Sea. This was a hope she was clinging to desperately...

“Right you are, right you are my friend, we didn’t get raided or any such dangerous thing norahaha. Some schizos got caught after attacking a patrol of brave Luknights. Fools they were, they got themselves shipwrecked on our mighty rock sugar shores, most of them drowned. Our Luknights came upon them as the two were warming their frigid bones near a fire. Their resistance was feeble, and they were taken alive, for a change.” At long last, this seemed to grab his audience’s genuine attention, which the Mayor relished. The Admiral’s gaze moved from some fascinating empty spot of the ceiling to the Mayor’s eyes, and even Citrora paused her meal to listen.

The fat man turned to his wife, a beautiful pink-haired lady at least fifteen years his junior. “Ah, you were with me that day, right, my sweet fruit? We were inspecting the prisons.” Which prompted enthusiastic nodding on her part.

“Yes, yes, I was! Oh how scary that was, just seeing them in their cages chilled my heart. They’re unpleasant beasts.” Sephira put the back of her hand to head, dramatically. “It was a cold winter day, some months ago, they’d been taken from the Gelanora dungeons to make more space, if my memory doesn’t fail me.”

Shige was growing more interested. “Sounds frightful, my lady. What did they look like? Any morphological mutations? Were they able to speak?” This barrage of questions was perhaps a bit excessive, but this was the most recent and local witness they’d come across yet, Cassandra was also intensely curious. Shige’s fingers were interlocked over the table, as he waited for Sephira’s account.

Hand on her chin, the mayor’s wife thought for a few seconds, assembling her recollection of the day. “Let’s see, I remember they smelled truly awful, not a hint of sweetness on them, and they were all covered in thick coarse hair. I don’t remember them speaking, however. They were quite inert when I saw them na, I’m not sure they could speak nanora... Do they speak, normally?”

The Admiral scratched his chin. “It varies immensely, Sephira. Some are intelligent, scheming creatures, able to plan on the long term, congregate, form strategies. Kronie schizos often turn out like this. Others are mindless beasts, unable to do anything but react to their rawest senses and instincts, completely consumed by their affliction, with only being put to rest as a fate. And there’s everything in between...” The Admiral looked to Cassandra and an instantaneous understanding struck them.

“Say, Mister Appleton, what happened to those captives?”

***

Cassandra felt bad for Noravera. Citrora volunteered to guide the Deadbeats to the prisons, which prompted a look of utter despair from Lady Jaggery, who’d be left alone with the municipal leader and his “sweet fruit”.

But beside the timely release from this torment, Cassandra was genuinely interested in what they’d find in the damp cell. So was the Rear Admiral. She was a bit curious about Citrora, however. The Luknight seemed to have a hardness to her gaze, as if she’d steeled herself for the encounter.

“Fruce, how are you?” Cassandra’s voice was kind, and soft. She didn’t want to hurt the warrior’s pride.

Fruce smiled, the ice melting from her eyes as she focused on the conversation instead of what was swirling in her head. “I’m well, why do you ask?”

“You look very determined to meet those schizo prisoners. We could have found the prison without you, there was no need to trouble yourself.” Citrora looked to the side at that, her hand on the back of her neck. A bit of embarrassment, perhaps?

“Hah, and stay in that dining room for another hour or two, listening to diatribes about South Himedom nobles? No thank you!” Fruce laughed at her jab, a pleasant sound always, but Cassandra let silence fill the space. Magnus was plodding along, a few paces ahead in the hallway. He’d always been a fast walker.

The Luknight broke the quiescence of the sleeping prison, finally. “To be honest... I’m not quite sure my mind is as ready for the North as my arm is. I feel strong, but there is this uncertainty... It’s been so long since I faced schizos, and they’re a peculiar opponent, they do something to you... You would know that, right?”

Cassandra had the full image, now. “Yes, they do. Schizos, they’re not just mad people, they resonate with our world is strange ways...” Citrora raised an eyebrow at that. “Resonate?”

“Yes, resonate. So, you’re afraid you won’t be able to fight them?” The Luknight stopped and rebuked the notion strongly.

“No, that isn’t it, if I’m faced with a schizo, I know my sword will dance her dance, as it’s meant to. But schizos... They’re devious, tricky... Unpredictable.” Memories were flowing through Citrora’s mind’s eye.

Cassandra thought for a few seconds, and made a decision. “Fruce, schizos resonate with our world in strange ways. This is how they can strike fear in even hardened warriors. It’s most significant in trolls and shamans, but even the most base schizo can make some small waves, if fully afflicted. Some of the fear you felt back then was genuine, natural, but they amplify those emotions.”

Citrora seemed interested by this concept. “Is that so?”

The Deadbeat agent continued. “Indeed. But in Moriji, and other places, I imagine, this power has been turned back against them. Our priestesses have developed schizolocation. A calm mind can separate the genuine fear from the encroaching influence of the schizo, and the latter can inform us on them.”

Some incredulousness made it to Citrora’s face. “Truly? This works?”

“Certainly. Our two schizos are two floors below us, about two-hundred meters in front and to the right. I think most people have the capability for this, but a sizeable amount of chuubanite is needed. For me and the Goddess Faithful, it’s in our bones. For you... Your armor has a lot of chuubanite, right? Try pressing... Ah, press your lips against your gauntlets while we walk. The lips are one of the most sensitive parts of the body.” Citrora smelled trickery.

“This sounds like a jape at my expense. You might have used the prison’s floor plan to locate the prisoners, no need for strange magicks.”

Cassandra just smiled. “Come on, you’re too curious not to try, are you not? Do it now while we’re a bit far.”

Citrora looked around, and saw no one besides them. The Rear Admiral had already gone down the stairs, and the walls of the hall were featureless. The Luknight felt incredibly silly doing so, but pressed her lips against the metal regardless, and waited.

Nothing.

“It *was* a jape! Damn you!”

The agent shook her head and insisted. “Keep doing it, and let’s keep walking towards them. Clear your mind of all distractions and focus on your fear. Because there is fear in your heart, is there not? Try to visualize its shape, it color, where it is. And look at how it changes as we walk.” Citrora dearly wanted to put a stop to this folly, but she couldn’t help herself. She did exactly as Cassandra said.

As they walked, she couldn’t notice anything. It was true, a tension was pulling at her heart, but it seemed like the natural apprehension of facing her enemy. But once they went down one set of stairs, and the next, there was... Something. Something growing. There was a fear and... More fear, identical, but additional. Unnatural. And as they got closer and closer to the cell, she could almost feels a shimmer on her lips from the gauntlet, as if the intrusion was vibrating its way in from there... It took all her focus, and it only came into effect within a few meters of the schizos, but there was the slightest hint of something there.

“It’s... It’s true. This is incredible.” Cassandra was beaming now, and clasped Citrora’s shoulder with her hand. “More practice will make it much more useful! And now, as long as you’ve got your armor, hopefully they won’t get the jump on you.”

The Luknight turned to Cassandra and bowed, in Moriji fashion. “This is a great gift you’ve made me, how can I repay you?”

She put her hands up, still smiling. “Oh, I just like helping. If anyone asks you how you learned to do this, tell them you came up with it, this is supposed to be a bit of a secret technique.” Cassandra stood straight once more and thanked her new friend one more time.

“Don’t worry about it... Now, what is our Rear Admiral up to?”

He’d been there for this entire exchange, seemingly unconcerned with any friendships, leakages of secret techniques, or anything besides the contents of the cell. He’d pulled out one of those Lunaito cigars, and was a third of the way through smoking it. That he was not coughing his life out was a tribute to the resilience of his lungs. “Trying to get anything out of those schizos, but they’re not playing ball. Mutes, or smart enough to keep their mouth shut. It’s good to see them, though... This musculature, and fur, these Arctic schizos undergo significant mutations. I wonder which country these guys came from in the first place...”

Cassandra took out a small notebook from her pocket and began jotting down notes on the creature’s physiology.

“Let’s get to work, Admiral.”

Citrora bursted out laughing while the two were seriously considering the task ahead. They turned to her, confused. “Fruce?”

“Hahaha, Admiral Magnus... They’re for eating, not smoking!”

“Eating? It’s a lump of sugar, why the hell would I eat that?”

“Why smoke it nanora?”

The two schizos remained stone-faced, as the laughter resounded around them.

Gonna be completely honest with you at this point, vespieBro, I fully intend to make Elysium as good of a setting for a ttrpg as I can, I feel like that is a nice endgoal. And going with a more traditional fantasy theme for us also allows us to be a lot more creative.

I see we had the same idea as to why the cold abyss was so interesting, and very similar plans for the end goal. Only real difference I can see is through how we tackled the citizens, with yours being more western ttrpg inspired and me being a smidge more jrpg-ish (which would've been more apparent if I smacked in some pics).

Semi-related to those spoilers, how do you feel about the pattern of each people having sort of a 'elite' offshoot? The Alchemists, The Vestiges, The Jarls, and The Crowned Horns? I imagine they'd be *very* rare but certainly would fit some of the descriptions you gave, especially the Axelotle Jarl I feel. I think with that we could sorta meld together some of our ideas a bit.

I wrote a surface level analysis earlier. Still need to analyze the soil to get an accurate reading for crops. TL;DR you have a climate to grow winter squash like pumpkins and spaghetti squash, nightshades like tomatoes and eggplants, everything in the cabbage family (broccoli, turnip cabbage, kale, etc.), root veggies like potatoes, turnips, sugar beets, and carrots, wheat, barley, and hops for beer. You'll have some cold delicious fruits like apples, gooseberries, and rasberries. On your north shores you can grow mediterranean crops like grapes. If you have wetlands then garlic and onions would be common crops. Plus if you have hilly grasslands then you can grow cattle and sheep.

Alright, so I had time to mull over the idea, and I think we can implement is somewhat easily, and with each faction having a distinct method of attaining this "elite" rank.
1. Axelotls: The simplest of the four. As I personally would put a lot of weight on their strength and battle prowess, adding on top of that their canine inspiration, a way to attain even more power would be through an "alpha gene" activation. This gene would activate only when an individual faced, and surpassed great adversity. Upon activation, the individual would then experience a rapid growth spurt over a year or so, growing larger, muscle mass increasing, all that fun stuff. This would make him an Alpha. Now, not every jarl is an Alpha, but many of them indeed are. Some jarls might even have individuals that attained the rank of Alpha under them as retainers, and sometimes even just normal individuals, not even fighters, can attain the rank, since the activation conditions vary from person to person.
2. Magmates: unlike Axelotls, whose transformation would be purely natural, they would instead artificially better themselves. We already talked about this. Hand cloaks. Essentially, any magmate alchemist could undertake a hand cloak ritual, in which they would fuse themselves to an extremely advanced golem. If, IF they survive, they would officially be accepted into the upper echelons of The Guild, and be privy to information normal, cloakless members would never see. This process could be repeated as many times as one wished, attaining additional hands with each successful ritual. Most, however, would stop at 1-2 rituals.
3. Altventurers: kinda iffy on this one, but I want to keep the elite rank limited to the royal family. Basically, a normal altventurer could have kids that display full, some, or none of their traits, like blue skin and small horns, if they had, for example, a Magmate partner. The royal family, however, would have extremely dominant traits that would always be passed on, no matter who the partner was. This way there would be little to no "watering down" of the bloodline, specially their Voice(yes, it's exactly what you are thinking of if you watched Dune, just not quite as op.)
4. Vestiges: Here I wanted to lean either into a "secret society" type of deal or a more mythical origin. Either a select noble would get visited in the night by the silent spectre, and be granted it's blessing, or a council of the oldest nobles would send out an invitation to a new initiate, who would then literally feast on the immortal, sleeping body of their founder, attaining the last vestige of his power. Either way, I really liked the idea that while the general masses would be ignorant of the meaning behind the name "vestiges" the select few would know of the full name. "the immortal vestiges of our honored father, the Silent One."

Alright, back to work. See you in 3 hours!
