Hello guys, today I decided to share my experience from some months ago with the hololive fandom through different Discord servers. I must warn that this could be a bit long and it's my first time posting here, so I hope everything goes fine.

I started watching clips at the end of 2020 because a certain youtuber I follow was part of the whole Vtuber craze back then, never expected to be interested until I ran into Korone by accident and that subsequently dragged me further down the rabbit hole. After a while on last year I became a Nousagi and was quite happy with my new hobby, but I bet you can guess where this is leading to.

One unfortunate day I saw an add while searching stuff on YouTube, it was about a hololive themed Discord server and since Covaids fucked pretty much any chance to go out I decided to bite and see if Discord wasn't other Twatter and hoo boy! I never went there expecting much desu, the fact that you can't go anywhere without it being a swarm of leftoid faggots these days irks me a lot and I'm saying that as a latino dude. I just wanted to meet people that shared my tastes and instead got a near Twatter tour, even the nicer ones weren't that much into hololive, kinda ironic since I just watch clips myself.

My very first server trew me out for chatting about stuff the Jannies didn't like under the guise of "sexual harrasment" for sending a bot command to a bitchy lesbo that conteined a motherfucking anime kiss GIF, just like I thought it would go. The next was even worse since I actually worked on a project there, a hellhole known as Holonews, led by redditors no less.

Most of that group are nothing but posers that joined to gain clout and offer a half-assed weekly resume to more posers on Twatter, can you seriously say that you're a fan if you don't have some minutes or less for a clip? Well, they did the exact same shit as the last server, another schizo with pronouns warned me over "sexism" for referencing the Jannies memes in a damn joke. I left for good feeling very disappointed. Even now it makes me sad to think that what could had been a cool way to have fun with others became bitterness again thanks to SJWs and while I had minority of buds on my side, the recent Orwellian TOS change made me quit once and for all.

Thank you for reading to this point, my purpose in doing this outside of ranting and venting (not like I had much freedom to say anything elsewhere) is to leave at least one record of my perspective during those days there and welp, I really hope to find better companions from this same fandom someday, fingers crossed.

Yeah, in general discord is full of people who get in power trips over their little tiny slice of something, and this is crossed with these people sometimes also looking for any excuse to be offended about something, as if the first one to call "this triggers me / might trigger a random person here" is the winner and not much else.

On /vt/ at least sometimes you will find people who:
a.) aren't groomers
b.) aren't wannabe groomers who can't differentiate between girls' on-stream personas vs actual selves, for example, the people who act as if gura is actually 8 years old and pretend as if she's there watching them as they viciously defend her from anything not a positive comment
c.) aren't clout chasers because no points/social system to try to use to wave around
d.) just like watching streams whether they're good or bad and hangin with bros

Did you join the Nousagi discord server? The population there is like 90% SEA but the mods don't outright kick someone unless they're a obvious shit stirrers or bots. At worst they'll mute you and advice you to lurk more before you post instead of instantly kicking. Still don't recommend going there though.

like every other forum/socmed site, you'll need to dig beyond the surface to get to the actually good discussion places.
Any discord will have trannies because that's one of the few non open platform that allows them to be shielded from their reality of public humiliation.
The main holo discord has an explicit no politics rule, and for the most part people discuss streams, but even that place will have trannies.
I just use /vt/ because I've gotten used to the culture here and can discern shitposts from genuine ones (most of the time).

As someone who checked out discord in the past, it's just a bunch of glorified fiefdoms with oversensitive, power tripping mods who'll unironically ban you for joking around and bantering with people. Literally got banned from one for mogging a snowflake mod with some lighthearted ribbing. Discucks can't handle a joke, let alone not having people worship them 24/7, because it's probably the only power they'll ever have in life.

There are still good ones, but finding them is all about word of mouth. The best topical discord I was ever on had a bunch of faggots (not sure if literal or "just pretending," don't even care) who were chill and irreverent. Ultimately, those are the ones you access by finding decent communities outside of discord...and then getting invited after you prove to not be a complete shitter.

With that said, there's so much simping and faggotry in the vtubing fandom, I'd imagine any and all good discords are a such a closely guarded underground secret OP will never have access to them. In that regard, using discord to discuss vtubers is pretty pointless unless you're going yolo and trying to groom one.
