Combat's too slow, I dislike the constant split party thing, or how some people come and go. Very good story and characters, nice skill system tied to weapons, but a chore to play.
Early 3D FFs all suffer from this, VII and VIII were too in love with their animations making them long, but combat felt snappier. In IX the pace overall feels slower. Still think VI is the best.

Disks 1 and 2 were pretty good, disks 3 and 4 don't hold a candle to them. They suffer from rushed lore drops at the last minute, an empty world that lacks the life and soul of the early game and dropped character arcs (Freya's in particular)

I almost wish she doesn't. Her FF9 streams were extremely chilly when she started them, she was really invested in the game. After pausing her playthrough, the magic is gone, she doesn't seem that interested in FF9 anymore. When Watame got to the "You're not Alone" scene, she was like "oh, that was nice", and then moved to waterworks over something unrelated to the game
