Sure but in that case trying to make it more realistic with details like the charging (?) handle makes it even weirder. Unless it's something like W40k orc aesthetic and it's something put together that works because you believe in it, but it doesn't work with the super polished aspect of the gun. Or you could say that it's for more control over the gun, but I don't think their guns ever get jammed. If this was the gun of a psycho that would get a revolver even if semi auto pistols have 99.99999% reliability "just in case" this could be good characterization, showing that they have insecurities and stuff. But it's a gun available to everyone. The base gun seems to be an AK "in the future" while forgetting what new AKs actually look like, and like most "guns in the future" stuff it's dull, boring and not inspired.

You pick it up with time, as with everything. But it depends how you watch streams. I think that for fictional futuristic guns in a video game they're pretty good. In terms of gameplay there's a wide variety, and guns for all tastes, that "feel good" to use. In terms of design I feel like most of them are coherent with each other, you can imagine that they all exist in the same universe. The fact that there's stuff like the R99/R301/longbow that are part of the same series is a nice touch too. I think most of it comes from the Titanfall origin of Apex, which is a serious world with wars and all. Apex adds a lighter touch to that, with legends that are very diverse (the only person that you would see in a regular army would be Fuse or Bangalore, and even then he's kinda old), and so the guns are a bit more fun, with stuff like the 30-30.
In general it feels better because I think that the devs/designers actually know their stuff. You have the triple take reminds me of the numerous weird weapon design by people trying to increase the hit rate of soldiers, but in general weapons are closer to what we already know, while still being futuristic.

I don't think it's a big issue. Melee weapons are already not very serious by their existence. Especially here when it's specialists fighting against other specialists. People don't kill each other with melee weapons in those cases. So it's fine that the melee weapon is here to show some personality. It seems that it's a cane rather than a skin on a crowbar, so there are no questions about the utility as a crowbar. But it also leaves traces on walls like a knife. Considering the technology they have, I can see it being optical camouflage because the user thinks it's fun or something, it fits with the other gun skins.

If I had to guess, that may be because a regular efficient reload with a moon clip as he does here wouldn't be visible, and that one without putting the gun down (the audio talks about letting gravity do the work) would be less efficient. Another thing might be that it works better this way in space since you have no gravity (Titanfall has some spaceships). "vapid" wasn't a good choice of word, maybe "simple" would be better. When you see Towa singing and see all the chat filled with emotes with light sticks and people saying it's cool you feel some kind of connection with people, and have a better time than without those thanks to empathy.
