Joking aside, simply ask the reverse question: if being in corporation X didn't offer more popularity and opportunity, why would anyone choose to join X? It's what the corporation is supposed to give you, in exchange for profit cuts and all the BS.

The real question is whether the popularity is worth it. That's something to think about. Real life analogy: many people have quit higher-paying jobs, in order to get a job they care more about. More life satisfaction and all that.
