I don't really envy their current position. Right now there's a low intensity conflict going on between audiences more used to KR-styled streams and JP-styled streams. VLUP is in the middle of that conflict right now with both sides looking at Jooin because she's popular in both crowds. Hopefully she'll be able to bridge the gap between those two crowds.

A few in the industry right now (Choki, Yam) are relatively young. In fact, lots of KR streamers (both male and female) start of relatively young and build their fanbase over a long time. iirc, HUZ has been building her fanbase over 10 years, and she started streaming in her teens.

That being said, I think you're approaching the idea the wrong way. No one in KR seriously thinks of chuubas as idols, they're much closer to the streamer community in general. And while KPOP is big in Korea, the streamer community and KPOP industry rarely have any overlap at all.

Well, I am not sure how to get the Chuubas to work well personally either and I think I need to discuss that with the veterans over there, but I currently have us set up as a naval trading power that has a lot of pirates (basing this off Hada and Korean Pirates IRL.) Liora could maybe work because /haha/ being next to us is modeled after Sweden I think...There are just a lot of KR Chuubas so I went for a simple theme that I felt was easy to model in the world. I do want some fantasy though as well.

Wouldn't the multitude of KRtubers mean a more decentralised model would fit better, though? I do think the "regional rivalries" idea is fitting. Although it's not reflected in the thread there are many factions duking it out in the current KR indie scene, and some of those conflicts make the Holo/Niji rivalry look friendly by comparison.

Plus, Korea had it's own 3 Kingdoms period similar to China, so it's another historicism that can be added.

Yes, that's a common staple of Confucian bureaucracy (mostly China, Korea, and Vietnam to a less extent - Japan had its own thing going on). The thing, though, is that the bureaucracy was supported by a vast education and examination system that churns out Confucian scholars to fill in the seats, as the monarchs' conduct is supposed to follow the Confucian ethics that the scholars got drilled with. That more or less also requires some degree of centralised and state-mandated philosophy that I'm not sure if present in our thread or KRtubers.
Without the central ideology (Confucianism in the RL example), though, then it would basically be more like a tribal confederacy than anything distinctively Korean or Oriental.

The closest I can think of is Lit Media with Shabel Tonya, but she's a one man show, so I'm not sure if that really counts.

Outside of this thread, Isegye Idol holds the most influence of all KR chuubas. Although they're rarely talked about here.

Well, a kingdom can be dedicated to a single vtuber if she's big enough, so I don't see any issues with Tonya having her own kingdom. /vtwbg/ is ultimately about the board and threads, so if Isegye doesn't really have a significant presence here, then they probably won't have a (large) kingdom. I guess in that case, we might end up with maybe 3 kingdoms (nijiKR, Tonya, and vnug) alongside a bunch of smaller ones, each representing smaller groups/indies/corpro. I guess in a way, it would be more similar to late Spring-and-Autumn China than any specific period of Korean history?

Well, Palhalla is established to be a real place and is where Liora is, so I guess it wouldn't be too bad to put it as the biggest city in /vnug/land, although whether that's the local capital can be debated. We have a few memes that can help fill up the smaller settlements, but I don't know enough about Lofi and the twins for their part. I think the twins come from the same place lore-wise, but I'll have to check their lore later for that.

I don't think it would be too much a stretch to have the island having an Aussie culture of sort, since I assume that both the island and the western part of the peninsula will be more exposed to foreign culture than Mujigae proper. Overall, /kr/ will feel like a colder Korea with somewhat more uniform rainfall and snowfall. The main takeaway is that ecologically, /kr/ will likely have a north-south divide despite its shape, as the northern and southern coast has different climates that necessitate different adaptations for development. If we assume the ancestral people of /kr/ comes from more temperate regions, the southern taiga might prove difficult to penetrate and assimilate, which might contribute to the cultural divide of the country.
Staples of Korean cuisine will still be present, although rice production might be more difficult than in RL Korea. As such, like RL premodern Korean peasantry, stretching the rice by mixing it with barley, beans, and millets will likely be a common practice. Preservation of vegetables will also be important for enduring the long winter in the south, although hunting and fishing is also a possible solution.

Well, what about the pre-collapse nijiKR? In fact, it might be interesting to look into how nijiKR is founded in the first place. If we go with the RL history of the branch, then it seems Mujigae might have been some kind of vassalised natives by 2434 in the first place. The distance between 2434 and /kr/ might mean 2434's control over nijiKR has always been rather flimsy, and every now and then nijiKR might find itself breaking free for decades, if not centuries when homeland's in trouble
Another thought I have is how nijiKR interacts with the rest of the peninsula, but I think it's easier to work that out once we know more about Mujigae's history

Well, the thing with the Chinese tributary system is that it isn't actually meant to be a way to extract wealth from the vassals, given how often the tributes are repaid with goods that are much more valuable. In terms of intention, I would say it's a system of how Imperial China organises the "barbarians" - Chinese tributary system is tied to titles China gave to the tributary states, which sometimes come with the implication that they're protected by China militarily, and that they're recognised as the sovereign of that patch of land, regardless of what others in said land might think. This is especially apparent in tributary states that are strong enough to have their own vassals, with the more Sinicised countries sometimes running their diet tributary system.
I agree that the current part about corruption brining down the old regime isn't very accurate, since while it definitely plays a potentially major role in that, corruption alone is rarely the direct cause of government collapse. Rather, it often weakens the state enough that an otherwise manageable threat ends up causing the collapse as the state no longer has the means to handle crises.
As for how /vnug/ plays into it, uprising of vassal state can always be the final nail in the coffin, and it also plays into how the current system has more representation from the non-nijiKR polities (probably leaning more towards what Austria-Hungary had). For the cultural difference, though, I kind of imagine the /vnug/gets (or at least the Palkyries) have been around their corner of the peninsula for a long time, probably not long after the /meat/ cult took over /meat/ land. It depends on where nijiKR came from, but the bottom line's that Mujigae likely subjugated the peninsula during its stronger days, but it never really managed to assimilate /vnug/ due to a combination of potentially fierce resistance and the different environment making many of nijiKR's stronger points moot in terms of actually running the place.
One example I can think of is that Mujigae is likely an agricultural state centred around the plains between Mechyna, Hwawon, and Yeongdeok, and its administrative system is probably designed around that. /vnug/, on the other hand, would be fairly infertile in terms of farming, instead relying more on things like fishing, hunting, maybe reindeer herding, and (of course) raiding richer land. don't mind that southern Mujigae probably would be in a similar situation Influence from the nearby /asp/ will probably make them less inclined for the relatively centralised system Mujigae had.

It depends - part of the reasoning behind my suggestion is that the hills in Mujigae seems to be taller, which might imply less severe weathering (especially considering that it's being pushed down more by the Major Niji plate niji proper can't keep us down, heh?), and thus the deeper (and higher quality) coal remains less accessible. I'll look over the resource to see what kind of distribution is more plausible/interesting. For example, the separation of copper and tin can be rather significant, when you consider what can be made when you combine the two...

On a more functional level, I'm thinking that maybe Mechaffyna is something that can be invoked in order for people to find specific resources by sensing them. Some kind of rituals and offerings might be required, which specify the resource one wants to find, provide a more tangible drawback to the curse, and sounds more fitting for Mechaffyna.
