Also, a mere trench wouldn't do the job. You're probably familiar with hydrography, so you can see on the map that the canal would join the sea to the source of a river, IE elevation. We don't have exact numbers on how much elevation, but even if it's only a hill's worth, this would translate to complex locks over a long distance, and complex locks with those dimensions were unheard of.

Sadly, it is literally impossible for it to be flat if you want the source of a major river to be there. Rivers have to flow down to the ocean's surface. A line between the oceanic coastline and the source of a river will always be a slope. It's misleading because this change in elevation is not represented, it's all just green, but that's just because the topographical map only has a few colors to play with.

I know, but that doesn't mean this can't work out (the canal can avoid the source of the river for example). Let me continue with research on the ancient Suez Canal and I will at least try to offer a perspective that could be useful as I think this is feasible from the perspective of a long term national project (I doubt you can run anything bigger than a merchantman up it).

It is. I think if I am honest this canal would have been something done much earlier than current date anyways for obvious reasons. Ships of the Line aren't possible either imo.

Upon further review and consideration given to the scale and scope, I have come to the conclusion that a canal like this, while immensely expensive and would take two generations to build, could be done. However, it would not be able to have ships of the line transit it without MAJOR investment. Unlike say the Kronie-Risu canal, this would be an internal national project that is feasible from that aspect. This would be around 200 km long, which is in between the Ancient Suez and the Canal du Midi and I think the terrain would likely be more like Egypt than Southern France. That being said, She will have to write about how this works, there will be locks in this and the big problem is connecting it to the river actually. If she can write something good about this, I do approve since this is a long term nation project that would be worth it for a nation like 2434 as having merchantmen transit this canal would cut time drastically, even if was only barges.

Man, we really have the worst times to catch each other, huh? Was just about to get ready for work. And the answers would require some time to write up. One that is simple is:

That was always the plan, we would carve up the battlefields as we raise more and more golems. They wouldn't just poof out of thin air. And since the rules for it's shape/size would be in the circuit, we could just write it on the ground and activate it, and it would be OK. Also, as much as I hate it, because it might force me to interact with paragraphsanon, I am OK with chuubanite being used in our ink. And as for different inks, that's where our normal alchemy comes into place. If you have the time, I honestly really recommend Witch Hat Atelier, it delves a bit into that as well, and it was major inspiration for the idea.

They're not entirely cut off, like the Tunnelhogs, it's more like no one really bothers with them and they don't bother with anyone. /morig/ was aware there was some sort of tribal people living there, but didn't really investigate, we were too busy fighting schizos and /meat/heads. Probably threw captured Risuners back on the shores of /risu/ a couple times. The extent of Risuner society was probably also underestimated because they mostly live in the center of the forests, while the settlements on the coasts and outskirts were diminutive.

That would make sense considering his view of the city's prosperity, since Aggaya is supposed to be the city where a lot of the medium-high tier rich people hang out at, and the city is functionally the "gate" through the eastern nasfaqgian strait.

Also, I can see all the four states having in common that they claim ancestry in some way to their respective legendary figure who was once a mere human but ascended through various feats. For example, taking a bit from cunt's plans, the royal family leading the Altventurers would claim direct decent akin to how the royal family of Japan pre-wwii claimed divine lineage. Perhaps Axelotles claim their city state was formed through a slave rebellion lead by Axel, deposing a tyrant with his own bare hands (taking vague inspirations from the Third Servile War). Not sure for the Vesties, unless I lean heavilly into the castlevania-eque esthetic and claim it's ruled by a nobility of vampires (lite edition, without the immortality but also without the weaknesses besides the need for blood) who claim to originally have been sired by "The Grand Father" or something.

I personally really like that about /risu/. I dont think risuners are meant to make that much logical sense, they are meant to be a nation of attention deficit sex addicted squirrelfolk. The risuners do not care about exploring the world in the most logical or efficient way possible, they hear a rumor of there being some interesting locations or people on the other side of the globe and they enter a state of single-minded focus trying to get there, even if it is "stupid" by outsider standards.

alright so based on the risuners timelien i tried making sense of all happenings of the Retro Reich so far and this is what i came up with:

XXXX - Retro Reich supports /2434/ in its war efforts against /pcg/, a few months later the Retro Reich withdraws frm /pcg/ due to the hostile reaction towards the Retro Reich's for its involvement in the war.

1110 - Retro Reich begins construction on the battle zeppelin

1111 - Retro Reich establish a deeper trading relationship with the Owl Republic

1112 - Retro Reich establish a deeper trading relationship with /morig/

1124 - Retro Reich with efforts from /meat/ founds the trading alliance together with /risu/ and /inf/

1127 - Bolts migrates into Lamington and begins living in its walls

1128 - /risu/ visits the Retro Reich

1128 - Retro Reich sends a spie to learn about /uuu/ and how to befriend them

/risu/ is a part of the trade alliance.

Well, if you want my opinion on it, I definitely think a single kind of chuubanite for your nation is the better idea. You have so many chuubas that if you made chuubanite for each of them, each specific kind would become so rare that you'd have to save up for years to get one spell out of the stuff. I also don't think you should focus too much on magic. This is because you've already spent a lot of time discussing how your country would have advanced tech, and the military faction would also push you in that direction. If you focus on having incredibly advanced magic too, from a meta perspective it risks unbalancing things and from a story perspective, it's a little boring to have your nation just be good at everything. Just because you have chuubas like Yorumi and Ange doesn't mean you'd necessarily have large subsets of the population dedicating their lives to studying things related to the chuubas, either. The existence of a god who rules over x isn't the same as saying the whole nation wants to base their lives around x, if you get what I'm saying.

Remember that you are basing your culture and religion on Shinto, unless you've decided to change that sometime in the past week. Similarly to Shinto, you have an absolutely ridiculous amount of gods. Worship of them wouldn't break off into isolated factions who all have incredibly different lifestyles and cultures the way it has for the NijiEN pantheon because there are simply too many. Most of your people are probably pan-polytheistic, and though people in a specific field might consider one god or another their patron -- like scholars worshipping JKgumi, or the few alchemists you have worshipping Ange -- for the most part they just kind of worship everyone and make prayers/offerings to whoever's most appropriate for the situation.

I'm working on resources for the whole of nenemen, it's a bit of a mess since I'm in the process of figuring out what needs to be imported, what needs to be exported, and what we might just be trading amongst ourselves. The climate for our entire region is subtropical monsoon. Though winters tend to be dry, the warm weather and wet summers give us a lot of leeway on what crops we can grow assuming care is taken. Was there something specific you had questions about resource-wise? I placed the Holy Kingdom next to a major river for the express purpose of allowing fish to be a staple of the diet, if that was in question. I had the thought that food would essentially end up being what happens when Japanese people try to make Western meals. It looks about right, but the taste ends up distinctly Japanese regardless.

As you spread outwards towards the edges of the Kingdom, the buildings gradually turn more Greco-Roman. I was thinking since meta-wise there are some Kindred who are really tribalist and others with unicorn tendencies, the deeper you traveled into the Kingdom the more the people would have sort of xenophobic, traditionalist attitudes. I don't know if you were here when I went over the idea of Kindred higher up on the religious ladder having progressively stronger shapeshifting powers. Since the church is also the military, the higher up in the army's chain of command you go, the less human -- in both appearance and physical ability -- the fighters become. It's a very anime sort of dichotomy where guns are great right up until a guy with a sword is better, basically. The pope equivalent would be some kind of completely inhuman monstrosity like ?% in picrel. A recurring theme I've been trying to emphasize in the Holy Kingdom is the idea of a pleasing, gilded surface hiding the monstrous, the rotten and grotesque beneath. Thoughts? I'd like the opinions of the other kindred here too, if any of you are around at the moment.

I think /cope/ could be like a loose alliance of nations, similar to /vtwbg/ but looser and more... dysfunctional.
