The general rule of thumb is Twitch if your content is primarily based on livestreaming and YouTube if your content is primarily pre-recorded and edited.

>Do you think there's an audience for X, Y, Z content?
First, ask yourself if you would watch a streamer of your skill and experience. Second, do a check on social media and look to see if other streamers are already creating similar content. Don't limit yourself to vtubers, include traditional real life streamers to scope out a potential audience.

I think i just had the first stream where i could truly just walk away from it and realize i had fun no matter how much it upsets me that my numbers are low. Some games/genres of games have discord communities. These communities often have either an area that is dedicated for shilling content/streams or they don't mind if you shill yourself playing that game. Just make sure you aren't obnoxious and try to get to know people in these discords first. I have found that this works well especially if you plan on streaming indie games or games that have literally 0 audience on twitch, its pretty much the only way I know of to get an audience just from playing that type of game.

i think this is really understated. every viewer matters at ths level, wanting god to bestow organic randos to you is a pipe dream unless you shill hardcore. most streamers start out with a small group of friends that watch each other and hang out and branch out from there. the /here/ folks are usually all great chatters and at the end of the day you are getting very nice practice for your zatsu skills for when you do reach organic normies.

My favorite viewer lately was someone who liked my stream enough to follow and then immediately start typing several lengthy messages all about his special interest, something completely unrelated to what I was actually streaming.
It felt like I was finally getting to apply everything I learned in virtual reality training. Felt like the first true test of my abilities as far as engaging with chat is concerned.

If you go the iPhone route, start with PrprLive. Fairly good (and free) alternative to VTS, and reduces the "oh I just paid for this but I don't want to use it" factor. Has fairly cheap DLC that enables some pretty good webcam tracking, and has a way to do collabs, though I'm not sure how it works since it's all in Chinese.

Firstly, there is none. If you actually read my post you'd realize I'm just deferring the consideration of external validity from an initial assumption and prediction.
