Everyone has friends outside of Hololive. Some of their friends even happen to be vtubers that aren't in Hololive. There's no real issue with it. Though it only becomes a problem when you start trying to hook up your friends from Group A with your friends from Group B, especially mid stream.

No, he's right. Innovation would be investing and developing your own brand well beyond what independent vtubers can achieve on their own. That doesn't seem like what they're doing for the most part, at least not for EN. Indies sometimes wind up running circles around Hololive chubas in terms of assets and entertainment value.

I'd also imagine a lack of model freedom disincentivizes the chubas form spending their own money on an IP they don't own, presumably deterring investment in their own brand and causing them to lag behind even further. It's anti-competitive and anti-innovative.

That's why the walled garden causes stagnation, and why branching out may be their only hope to retain relevance. It's because within that garden, the caretakers seem like they're letting it fall into disrepair.

Nothing against IM. I am just bored of the Mori-Mouse collabs.
The last Collab (SOTD) was my limit.
Whenever a Hololive member collabs with mouse it's
1)Mousey praising them
2) Guest being forced to say something positive
3) cycle continues with the no you.
And most important part, she does a very bad job at asking and sorting the questions.
I know I am one of the few people who is in the minority, but I rather watch more collabs with Amalee.

IM/Vshojo wants to keep being able to access occasionally with talents from the biggest most popular agency (Holo), so it's only natural that to keep getting these opportunities allowed, they have to play by Holo rules and walk on eggshells, keep the worst of their peepeepoopoo dicksnagene shit in check (at least for the time of the collab), so Cover doesn't get too embarrassed and withdraws their collab perms in a pissy huff.

So the only thing that's being left to do in an "interview" is the kind of bland inoffensive vapid positivity, softball questions, and "You're so great, I love you... No, YOU'RE great, darling!!" circlejerking. And what else CAN you really talk about? All the interesting roommate talk is obviously off-limits, so it's just boring kayfabe-level knowledge being presented. Also, can't talk about any drama even if it happened to the vtuber personality either, as acknowledging that would go against the "everything is always happy and sunshine" sanitized corporate narrative especially Cover wants to present. If the talent has some project to shill, they can talk about that. Otherwise, if you take away anything that's off-limits or could be potentially offensive, you just get the usual mutual appreciation fluff-talk or some inane conversation at the insight-level of "so then, uuh, what's your favorite food?..." etc.
