If he moved them with his mind it would just be a different skin for a tentacle character, the attachments on his arms and the gloves, and the fact that there are so many of them, indicate that they can remain in the position he lets them once he's disconnected, so he would need some skill to use them efficiently, instead of being able to do anything but never ammounting to much like most tentacle characters.
