Hololive is mainstream, due to that Holo content is sanitized, most of it feels the same, there's no individuality, creativity, holos stopped taking risks experimenting with their content, just another cute girl playing fotm game screaming occasionally.
Hololive completely lost its soul when cover understood that they're the mainstream, just compare early 2020 and this year so far, you will see the difference.

I started on Aqua and Shion in early 2020, watched Hololive religiously for a good 6 months, then stepped out of the bubble to see what else the industry had to offer. Finally came back to give HoloEN a try last year but found them mostly sterile, boring or abrasive. HoloX might as well not exist for me, closed their debut streams out of boredom.
I've occasionally checked on Aqua and Shion, but the early hype I felt from them is gone. Aqua's still a lovable autist, but her content is cookie cutter stuff and she's barely present these days. Largely the same for Shion. I keep hoping to find something new and interesting among the other holomems, but instead I'm finding even less of the magic that dragged me "down the rabbit hole" in the first place.
Similar symptoms are present in the older nijis (JP), some are just checked out and content to fade away, but at least they're being replaced by the occasional gem from the newer waves. Other, smaller companies and some dedicated indies on the other hand are steadily rising and constantly attempting to break new ground. It's been fun watching them catch up tech-wise, too. I now find myself hoping they'll be the future of vtubing instead of this dusty corporate duopoly.

Management has always been stupid. Just they became even more stupid since they're in content creation which requires creativity but they strangle all the creativity out of the talents.

If you were serious about content creation, Hololive would drive you up a wall. You can't stream shit because they have shit for game permissions. When you do get a new game suddenly you have to compete with 50 other people streaming the same game. You can't really do much in other kinds of streams except for maybe ASMR because management is a bunch of boomer Japanese salarymen. If you want to collab with your fellow talents, you have to jump through a bunch red tape and fight your own management to even allow some variety in your content.

All your competitors are constantly evolving while Hololive has only gotten more restrictive so of course their content has gotten extremely stale. And despite being one of the first big presences in Live2D they can't even get anything from modeling, art, or rigging right. I wouldn't be surprised if they hard crashed in 2-3 years.
