Now I went for like 30 years being an atheist because not a single thing that met those two conditions ever happened to me or anyone that I knew. I also debunked loads of shit that I was told. Sometimes I found logical explanations for entire books dedicated to OBE or reincarnation, which depressed some of my family members at time(reason for which I actually regret this).
Thing is, one day something happened to me and a couple of friends that met both conditions. Life has a way of humbling you.

By "cannot be explained" I mean shit that has an agressivity to itself, if that makes sense. For example, If me and my mom both suddenly were to see a man inside the house, and we lost sight of him at some point, we'd think that a man wanted to rob us and then left in a sneaky way when we were distracted. If you saw some exaggerated creepypasta shit like slenderman from the memes on the other hand, you'd think you're having a stroke induced hallucination or some shit, but you won't think it's a person, or something that you could really see in a normal context, if that makes sense. You seem to have assumed that I meant "religious experience" or something like that. That cannot be, at the time I wasn't religious, superstitious or spiritual. I never even tried to be in such a setting.

These criteria aren’t good though, for example at megachurch meetings, tons of people will experience something supernatural together and speak in tongues etc. even though none of it is true. Humans are unreliable, you have to take them out of the equation. Measure with calibrated and validated instruments and do the math, independently from one another and verify everything.

Sure you could. After the death of a family member, especially if you've lived with them a long time, hallucinations are really common. You'll enter a room and swear they were on the couch, or in the kitchen cooking, but they're dead. Auditory hallucinations are especially common, doubly so when you're falling asleep or just waking up and not really coherent.

They can also be group events, look up "speaking in tongues" for examples of how they can be induced. In a group something can very quickly go from "I thought I saw something" -> "I saw it too" -> "Didn't it look like a hand?" -> "Yeah it was definitely a hand" and suddenly everyone in the group is certain they saw a ghostly hand, what's more is their memories will actually change to confirm that. A couple days later and they remember seeing that "hand" with way more clarity than the indistinct shadow of a tree branch they actually did.

We freaked out and that's the story. It was just cringekino in a foreign country until surprise spooky shit happened. I don't know what explanation to give to that. They disappeared in the split second we looked at each other. Incredibly boring "paranormal" story but I don't know what kind of explanation to give to that.
