You're not understanding the premise here. The ones that don't interact with males are trying to be idols - they're trying to maintain an image of purity. Obviously this helps get the audience of gachikoi and believers through its associated image. You can talk about past bfs, but most of it's a value thing - if they truly act like idols while they are trying to be one, then they will still gain respect and likely be treated as one by most. The people who support their oshi in such a relationship are getting the undivided attention of the idol as a fan group in return for their trust and support. That's why it's looked at so negatively if they betray that clear understanding of trust. So maybe that's not for you and you don't give a shit, but to them an idol is supposed to represent more than a mere mortal through its asceticism and devotion.
