The general rule of thumb is Twitch if your content is primarily based on livestreaming and YouTube if your content is primarily pre-recorded and edited.

>Do you think there's an audience for X, Y, Z content?
First, ask yourself if you would watch a streamer of your skill and experience. Second, do a check on social media and look to see if other streamers are already creating similar content. Don't limit yourself to vtubers, include traditional real life streamers to scope out a potential audience.

Your art is better than you think. Making a shitty first rig in Live2D isn't hard and is honestly better than using a .png that glows whenever your mic picks up audio.
If you're too lazy to do that, look up HONK. It's a $12 program where the only extra thing you'd need to get it working is drawing additional mouth shapes for all the sounds you can make.

I think I'm gonna ammend my goals from making friends and having a small audience of regular viewers. (Which if not completely finished is not far away if I continue inclining at my current rate) My new goal is to model my content on ssethtzeentach but with the obvious difference that it will be as a streamer. To present strange and complex games in an entertaining way and to make other people want to also play these strange games. I've been playing these types of games for long enough that I probably could do this for quite some time without researching new ones. Obviously this is kind of a difficult goal, and my audience might be limited for such a thing but it's nice to have a goal that I can actually aim for that's success or failure is not related to external factors like viewer counts or followers. Hopefully an audience would be attracted to someone like this so I guess we will see.

When it comes to indies, numbers can honestly get a bit weird and "effort" is honestly a serious metric to put into consideration despite it being kind of hard to quantify at times.

For someone that's relatively "low effort", we'll use Nemu (fish) as an example her numbers are outstanding. While she's an entertaining streamer, throughout her growth she really hasn't done anything impressive aside from that odd cooking stream she did and a few one-off streams, otherwise 90% of her content (before she went into cruise control react stream mode) were just playing games and being herself. She barely did anything on Twitter, there weren't many collabs or interactions outside of a stint with Leaflit and a couple of her friends, and overall did very little to grow herself but. Nemu has always put out relatively low-effort content, but as a person she's cute and entertaining which leads to much better growth.


Compare that to some other smaller chuubas (Krimbo for example since he comes to mind first though I know he's kind of polarizing) that genuinely puts a lot of effort into his content, art, networking, and just his stream and brand in general. Despite all these dozens/hundreds of hours, he's barely reached a tenth of what Nemu has despite a lot of her early content just being her hitting Live and fucking around in videogames.
100 viewers is a lot when you're barely trying, but 100 viewers when you're putting in a thousand times the effort as someone putting in less than you is less impressive, but I'd consider both "good" in most cases regardless of the circumstance, it's just the context surrounding it that you can use to take into consideration how well someone's doing.

/asp/ies are a prime example because some of them dump retarded hours into things (voice, art, desig, rigging, networking, and all the other "reps" people like to jerk off on top of all the overthinking) and most do about as well as some random 2view that's just posting on twitter and going live.

I’m really glad I feel like my Live2D was worth it. Twitter kind of sucks so you have to do a bit of legwork with the searches. I search the Live2D hashtag and add the word "commission", which usually finds people both open and closed and filters out most JP riggers. I also follow a few and check out their Likes, RTs, etc but that was kind of a side ffect and not intentional. I actually found mine through something another rigger retweeted, usually they like and retweet a lot of people.

They're easier to get (still tough, but easier than getting youtube viewers), and each one is worth more money than a youtube viewer/more incentives and avenues for them to throw money at streamers.

It was an experiment. I wanted to know what it sounds and feels like if you say these things out loud knowing someone else will hear it. The results are actually quite positive. I felt weird doing it and it also didn't feel genuine which means that the thoughts if "I want to die" "I want to disappear" and "All my friends hate me" aren't actually things i genuinely believe, it's just the brainworms.

Menhera Monday is for this sort of stuff. Exploring the negativity of our minds and approaching it with an open mind in way that allows us to confront it together instead of being alone with it on 4am on a Monday. I get this and i said this about my stream before too. What i have noticed is that if you are in a bad spot having someone try to encourage you to think positive is not helping or even having a negative effect. What helped me out of my bad spot is relating to someone with similar problems. And that's what i have been trying to find out, if this can help others aswell. Mentally these streams don't affect me. And i sincerely hope that no viewer feels impacted by them negatively either. But maybe i'm trying to do something i'm not skilled enough to do (psychology / therapy).

I haven't gotten negative responses yet, and they might not tell me, but if i do get that feedback from a viewer i'll probably stop the streams altogether.

I don’t think that’s a very universal experience but I could be wrong. My friends and I will vent to each other, but ultimately we encourage each other not to stew in our negativity and try to look at things as positively as we can, or at least just try to keep the times we share with each other largely positive.
