I've never watched Sana (or any of the Council, really) but I still feel bad for you guys. I actually thought she had the second nicest design outside of Mumei and it sucks to see someone leave so soon.

To my knowledge graduations are permanent. When you're retiring a talent, you also retire the model, the IP to the character, and all of their channels and social medias. If a talent resigns then the character is effectively dead. And I think there might be a clause in the contract where once a talent resigns then they're blacklisted from future auditions for new models.

If Coco returns then she will negotiate an ironclad contract from Cover. Which will never happen. Also Coco will bring back the zhang squad. Which is something Cover will never wants to deal with again. The only reason why Cover would renegotiate a contract with Coco is if they desperately need her to return. Which they don't. Sana is in a similar situation. Her channel fell victim to the sunk cost fallacy. As much as Cover tried to invest in Sana she did not grow the way Cover wanted her to. Add that to the back injury and it was easier for Cover to sever ties than keep Sana around. And there's no reason for Sana to return to a dead channel with virtually no growth. Its a waste of money to them.

Rehiring Coco and Sana would be bad for business. Especially when we're entering a recession where people have less spare money to spend due to inflation. Coco's contract will be impossible and Sana doesn't make enough money for Cover to care.

What I got from her announcement of her graduation stream was that the way she was talking was that while she was sad at the same time I got a feeling it seemed as if it were a weight off her shoulders and relief type of thing.
Depending on the way she handles herself in the next upcoming weeks and seems to be really happy and not sad can prove that theory that she is happy to put this part of her life behind her and move on to other things.
Personally I hope she takes the time to take care of her back problems and take some time to enjoy life and not just be working 24/7.
Either way I'm sad to see her go but at the same time happy for her if it involves improvement in her life.

Of course, as we've talked about here before, there were definitely other ways she could have dealt with most of these challenges. More zatsus, more work streams, short sketch warmup streams, pitching more ideas as edited content that could be worked on and distributed in chunks when needed. As soon as she saw her work piling up she needed to shuffle the deck, and not be afraid to get a bit scuffy, but instead she just went into her hermit autism mode and stayed silent for weeks which even she knew wasn't healthy.

You could tell Bae had a lot of streaming experience because so far she's had a gameplan for everything. If she didn't feel like gaming she chatted sometimes just on her phone mic, if she had to go away she had VO videos posted on a timer. Even Mumei learned she could do streams whenever between classes just to rant about random stuff or do random latenight karaokes to let off steam and people would still gobble it up. Sana's Twitter spaces were highly enjoyable and she could have been doing stuff like that from the start. She didn't even try a siesta stream which I doubt they would have kept her from doing.

I'd just hate to think that Sana's graduation is more a result of her being stubborn and self-conscious than anything else. She had some big dreams coming in and falling short is going to be tough to move on from even if she's leaving on good terms.

I think she probably has to have some kind of surgery that will keep her sidelined for a long time. Like, missing the council anniversary and even longer if she left now. And even more rehab after that just to get back to normal. There's no way to maintain two separate jobs doing that.

I don't think it's just as simple as "back hort, can't sit", because she can stand and walk. Remember, she had a 5 hour stream making the Kirby cake and she even went to the store in the middle of it. Just getting a standing desk would allow her to continue doing whatever. when your process is slower and requires more revision, you don't really want to stream it. The people who draw on hololive are either fast or not as detailed. Sana puts a TON of work on her art (she said once that when she hyper focuses she goes a few days without sleeping) and while those would be absolutely LEGENDARY streams I understand why she didn't want to art stream.
