The general rule of thumb is Twitch if your content is primarily based on livestreaming and YouTube if your content is primarily pre-recorded and edited.

First, ask yourself if you would watch a streamer of your skill and experience. Second, do a check on social media and look to see if other streamers are already creating similar content. Don't limit yourself to vtubers, include traditional real life streamers to scope out a potential audience.

There’s always the possibility of getting an iPhone plan; if not, we can tracking is decent if you have okay lighting, but iPhone tracking looks super smooth and super cool. iPhone tracking with VTube Studio is generally better than Hololive tracking even! It’s really cool.

I got one myself as a webcam, which by the way was super lucky because the next week after I ordered it I dropped and broke my old phone orz So now I use the iPhone as my main phone and it’s pretty good! That relies on you being ok with acting, and able to keep the act ongoing at least most of the time. Voice can be forgiven if it at least matches a bit.
As for it being enticing or engaging, there's definitely a charm to like the smoker hobo clown trope, though you might get some trying to claim you're personifying an old hollywood trope meant to degrade the poor... which you could lean into if you wanted.

On the acting bit, I've practiced by myself with certain situations (and delusions) before, and I feel like I'm getting better at it. Sometimes it's quips, sometimes whole conversations. A test stream or two so you can get the real grime and grit of doing it for the first time out of the way is a good idea. Only limit it to a couple of recordings or games because you aren't going to do a whole lot of improving or growing if you aren't live.
Even after you've started streaming/uploading it's fine if you're doing a shit job. Nobody is watching you so you have all the freedom in the world to fuck up or even completely retcon your character. Even if you aren't 100% sure what to do with your persona you can get a feel for them on the field and change things as needed.

Having the energy is the hardest part. You're incredibly lucky if you naturally have it. Not to mention being with something throughout the creation process and not being satisfied with what it is.
Probably the best thing I've heard about being a successful content creator is that "effort is the majority of the fight." I have to repeat that to myself when I'm being a lazy or sad idiot and it helps me just suck it up and do what I want to.
Even if what I make isn't what I initially expected it to be, I can take the win of having it actually be done and not something forever stuck in my own mind.

That's something you kind of have to find out on your own. Your time zone and lifestyle will change when the best time for you yourself to stream and how that coincides with the best times to stream for viewership. What you stream will also change that time, so you're just going to have to try streaming at different points during the day and after looking at analytics make a decision from there.
From my experience, streaming later in the night for American audiences (assuming you're streaming in English) is the best for me. I would say at around 6 PM PST/ 9 PM EST is the earliest I start.

Honestly time slot doesn't matter much as a 0 view. Only thing I can say is that you should at least try to stream at the same time of day consistently to maximize the chance that somebody who follows you will be around to watch you. Other than that the main thing to keep in mind is that any viewers you get (at least outside of marketing yourself) is almost completely due to seemingly random factors beyond your control, so the best thing to do is just stream more often and for longer so you will have more chances for viewers to find your stream.

This advice only really applies to finding viewers through twitch browse and search functions though, there probably is more applicable logic to when you should stream if you are marketing yourself a lot.

I usually talk about the game I'm playing. I research it to find interesting factoids. Or if it's a game I played previously, I tell stupid stories relating to it. If that all fails, I usually talk about something completely random. Stories to tell on stream, random off topic stuff. I keep a notepad document of stuff to talk about and referring to it has helped me tremendously. You also don't always have to say anything. If it's a game that I'm familiar with I will sometimes purposefully be quiet to have chat focus on a song in a game or to take in the atmosphere with me.

Personally I think it's important to drink a lot of water during stream - always have a glass of water next to you and sip it when it feels like your throat is starting to ache. It's usually your throat drying out that makes it hurt - and make sure to sip rather than drink it all at once!
