I just tried in-and-out (in texas) a while back.
for the price the burger isn't bad, But you are right, you need to get the fries animal style or they are bland as fuck.
The only issue is, is that you can go to a mom and pop shop and get a burger double the size here and get amazing fries with it too for around the same size.

What these anons said is spot on. It's not amazing food compared to other food, but it's pretty great compared to other fast food for the price. They also always give their buildings a bright & open aesthetic which is very California-beach-y. The menu is also pretty simple, which is nice when you don't know what you want. A lot of people really love In-N-Out, and it's not because it gives you like a five star restaurant experience, it's just because they do what they do very well.
