The general rule of thumb is Twitch if your content is primarily based on livestreaming and YouTube if your content is primarily pre-recorded and edited.

>Do you think there's an audience for X, Y, Z content?
First, ask yourself if you would watch a streamer of your skill and experience. Second, do a check on social media and look to see if other streamers are already creating similar content. Don't limit yourself to vtubers, include traditional real life streamers to scope out a potential audience.

It should probably go without saying that you shouldn't be touching the account switcher on Discord while streaming, but I figured I'd mention it just in case since the topic came up last thread.
If you have "Automatically Enable/Disable Streamer Mode" toggled on in your settings but have the actual Streamer Mode toggle set to off, switching accounts and switching back will result in Streamer Mode being disabled even if OBS is still running. If this information is ever something you find relevant, you have already fucked up somewhere

This is more important if you use Screen Capture on OBS, which, by the way, NEVER USE SCREEN CAPTURE ON OBS. Game Capture or Window Capture will ALWAYS, without fail, work a lot better than Screen Capture, and considerably reduce the amount of Yabs you get.

Also, turn off Discord notification sounds, and any sounds from anything that isn't a game (this includes system sounds, though system sounds can be fine because the windows sounds are actually kind of funny sometimes, but not all the time)

The only thing I've found Game/Window capture doesn't work for is Menu items in some art software. If you're showing which tools to select and doing a tutorial style thing, it's not visible at all.

I honestly don't know who has notifications on. It's the first thing i turn off on any device. Having a dedicated windows user for streaming is really good, also not using your primary monitor for screen capture means that new windows won't appear on stream and setting most windows up that their position is remembered on the non shared screen helps mitigate 99% of potential yabs if you really have that much loli hentai on your pc (you shouldn't download porn at all desu).

Screen capture has a couple advantages because in-application pop-ups (like in photoshop for example) will not be shown by window capture same for other more obscure applications. For everything else like games and such the other options are better of course. Even for youtube videos and such i rather use browser source with embedded links.

I feel like this pretty often, then all of a sudden It pays off and I get to chat with people and sort of make connections. I think a big part of not getting ignored is to 'start off' in the conversation, as opposed to just interjecting mid way through. If you're unfamiliar with the people you're talking with and suddenly cut in to try and make some joke or say some crazy thing, they're most likely going to just ignore you in favour of continuing the conversation with whoever they were initially talking to.

I feel like it's pretty much the standard to just thank them really quick, ask what they were playing etc and talk about what you're doing. Personally I thank them, my mod will do a shoutout and if it's a similarly sized channel and not some 5-view raid and I'm not busy I'll check their channel out on another monitor while I chat up their viewers for a minute and if they look cool or something I'll comment on their design, emotes, etc. I don't do any of the twitter stuff but if they seem alright check theirs out after stream. You really just kind of play it by ear other than that, do what you're comfortable doing.
