It's a difference in priorities, how fans of each company approach vtubing.

Holofans watch for the brand, a lot like how you'd watch an anime you like. The holos are just the characters in the franchise, the individual doesn't matter as much. It makes little sense to watch vtubers outside the Hololive brand (with the occasional exception of certain honorary holos, such as their artist mamas), because then it's a different franchise, one they're not fans of. They help and promote struggling holos, but don't follow former holos out of the collective.

Nijifans see nijis as individual streamers, ones that should stand on their own merits. They don't necessarily see value in following the company as a whole, and prefer stick to their chosen vtubers and their close circles, which can include vtubers from both inside and outside Nijisanji. Nijifans are less of a unified mass of likeminded people as a result. There isn't a real niji box that shows up to mass sub to new debuts or rescue ailing nijis.

I was surprised the collabs in Nijisanji feels more normal and genuine hangout of friends compared to the forced shit and awkward silences that happens in Hololive. At the same time, Hololive managers seems more competent despite people's complaints and actually keep the girls on some leashes, so it prevents a number of weird fuck ups that happens all the time in Niji side
