No you autist. I mean normal stuff that adds onto a character like Pekora being an explosives enthusiast or Luna being a piano player. Or for example Kanata being ultra strong, not the "haha gorilla" joke but the strength is party of her.
Stuff like that. Though maybe you wouldn't even consider that lore. But it adds to "character" I guess.

Lore is dumb, but when they try to hide stuff just to stick to lore it's even more retarded. Calling tokyo "virtual Tokyo" or America "dragon America" or whatever the names were, is dumb. EN does it more than JP. JPs are nice and casual about real life shit while ENs except for Kronii get so strict about it.

Luna's piano playing is fine. Those with high class upbringing usually have high grade hobbies, so with Luna it's pretty much natural.
Kanata isn't actually ultra strong, but I suppose it plays well with her being an angel and all. The gorilla shit is fucking silly, though.

I really don't think so, although omega/EN management seemed to think it'd be a big deal.

I suspect that because Holo Alternative, that manga adaptation and various games were on the horizon that they got the idea that the characters could/should be something beyond the sum of their parts as a streamer. To an extend that kinda works in that lore can be convenient for some amusing quirks or for conveniently papering over IRL stuff, but it's not like chuubas are going to be reciting lines or anything.

You can kinda tell that it looks like the Councils were coached a lot to act within-character - Sana still does it, Kronii kinda does it a lot (all that "of course I'm so great" kind of talk is her character generally) and you can just hear it sounding acting, like they had to pause to think about it and say it with a sort of probing tone to it, like telling the other girl "I'm going in character right now, do you pick up on it to respond in kind?" - but not all of them are like that. Bae and Mumei seemed pretty locked into trying to be in-character very much to their detriments at the beginning because Mumei overdid it and Bae's overall nature really does not fit the description/look of her lore. Fauna, I dunno, never tried much beyond going "I'm not a deer I'm a kirin" although I think it's more like her personality happened to fit in pretty well with her written char so she just never was dealing with a curve ball like Bae etc. Then again most of these girls could have read up and gone "so I'm supposed to be calm and pleasant ... yeah sure I can do that," Fauna got the fucking easy one.

additionally, I'd mention Myth was kinda lore heavy at the beginning too. IIRC the Japanese themselves liked that, they said "this is what Hololive used to be/should be" seeing them actually-care about their characters initially.

However I think lore basically only really works as -maybe- an icebreaker kind of thing to help the girl/the audience get comfortable with each other and isn't always needed. For example Chloe threw her lore entirely out the window ASAP and it didn't affect a damn thing, and in fact if she followed her written character as an aloof kuudere assassin girl she'd have been.. competely, completely fucking different and probably way less successful because that char does not play into her strengths of being cute. So she just went "lol I'm an orca yaaay" and stuck with being cute, and it worked perfectly.

I honestly don't give a shit about it and I can't understand why people would. I think it should be used as a place for the fanbase and the actress to develop and realize the character. It should not be a strict guideline like what Omega would have it be.
Whatever lore there is makes no sense. There was that classic post about how dumb Kiara's character is as a concept:

Only when the keyfabe results in actual creative stream bits. Nyanners had a very promising eldrith keyfabe that involved a bunch of "clone" characters she would play which resulted in some pretty kino bits (in 2020-2021). Dropped it eventually and I'm still mad about it.
