I have a personal theory that Salome's popularity is because of a quirk of the algorithm. I originally thought because her name is so long and unwieldly that it would be algorithm poison, but what if the fact that she's literally named '1 million' and her initial debut buff combined to boost her share in the algorithm. This plus hololive association from causals, plus nijisanji bias from Youtube, all combines to give her unnatural traction.

People who watch her aren't searching for her or discovering her through normal Vtuber news circles, they're only seeing her through the recommended videos section on youtube. This would also explain why her Zatsu+Drawing stream did so badly, the tourists who just click on her face on recommended videos get turned away by the bad thumbnail.

They don't chat because they treat it like a regular prerecorded video, which is also why her VoD views are high. She doesn't trend hard on twitter because the people watching her are early VoD viewers. VoD watchers also sub at a higher rate than stream watchers. If the reason why she and only she has gained such success in Nijisanji is because she has greater Algorithm traction, then it stands to reason she wouldn't funnel because the rest of Nijisanji wouldn't be in the recommended feed on her videos.

What do you think? Is there some basis to this?

Salome had a solo debut on a fresh account which means that there are no wave mates to compare to and no prior account history for the algorithm to compare against.
She also had a legitimately large audience which would help camouflage any accounts that aren't real.
The people operating them just have to play it safe in terms of how they release them and the ratio of bots to real people.
It's highly suspicious that she can lose several thousand unique chatters but her overlap data is the same as it always is since that would suggest she had a similar ratio of non vtuber watchers even though there were far fewer people watching.

Firstly, we've seen what bot activity looks like, it's not an immediate cull, but they do get culled DURING the live stream. Salome has not dropped as drastically as Luxiem's famed mountains.

It's good, but if you plan on graduating in 2 years with that paltry amount, becoming an indie streamer, then you might as well not become a streamer in the first place.
