Reminder that Riku is a trend-hopping, short-term oriented type of CEO. He had four failed business ventures and by his own admission he only released Nijisanji to "ride the wave" of VTubers and "get immediate results". He does not care about Nijisanji because he will simply "move on to the next thing" if it doesn't work out. The IPO is him cashing out his stocks.

> 今でこそ注目される田角さんだが、大失敗も経験している。2017年、別の動画サービスを仲間と立ち上げたが、投資元が見つからず事業を畳んでいる
Although Mr. Tazumi is now in the spotlight, he has also experienced major failures: In 2017, he launched another video service with a few colleagues, but the business folded when they could not find an investment source.
> バーチャルYouTuberの事業をはじめる以前に、4つの事業を立ち上げたのですが、失敗しました。出資を受けることができず、2人いた仲間も辞めて、自分だけが残って。
"Before starting the virtual YouTuber business, I had started four businesses, but they failed. I couldn't get investment, two of my colleagues quit, and I was the only one left."

> ただ、もともとの性格でいえば、ダラダラしがちで。だからこそ、逆に短期集中で一気にやっちゃいたいんですよね。
It's just that my personality is the "lazy" type. So I prefer to do things in short, concentrated bursts.
> さすがに人生の全部を集中するなんて無理なので、「やる時」と「やらない時」をきっぱり分けるようにしています。
Obviously it's impossible to concentrate on everything in life all at once, so I try to make a clear distinction between "when to do" and "when not to do".
> バーチャルYouTuber市場は立ち上がったばかりの市場。集中して取り組みたいですね。
The virtual YouTuber market is a market that has just started. I want to concentrate on it.
> 「すぐに結果が出る、短期勝負がしたい」
Title : I want to play the game in a way that I get immediate results.
> じつは、バーチャルYouTuberで勝負をしたのも、短期集中に向いている事業だと思ったから
In reality, we went with virtual YouTubers because we thought it was a business suited for short-term focus.

> 日本でもフィッシャーズの「笑ってはいけないアニ文字がツボに入ってしまった。」という動画が少しずつバズりはじめていて。マーケットもありそうだし、animoji×生配信をテーマにしようと考えていきました。
In Japan, the video series from "The Fishers'" called "YLYL : Animated emoji." got viral, and there seemed to be a market for it (This thing :https://youtu.be/28jAR_LDNJE))[Open].
> 流行りはじめていたanimojiとライブ配信、この掛け合わせに集中をすれば、自分でも勝負ができると思ったんです。
I thought that if I concentrated on the combination of animoji and live streaming - which was starting to become popular - I could compete in this field.
> その頃、バーチャルYouTuber『キズナアイ』が100万登録突破し、めちゃくちゃ盛り上がってきていて。女性YouTuberの中でも上位にランクインしてきて。
Around that time, VTuber "Kizuna Ai" had just surpassed 1M subs and was getting very popular. She was ranked high among female YouTubers.

> バーチャルYouTuberがくることは間違いなかった。その波に乗っかろうと「にじさんじ」をリリースしました。
There was no doubt that virtual YouTubers were coming. I released "Nijisanji" to ride that wave.
> この先、バーチャルYouTuberもいつまで伸び続けるかわからないですよね
In the future, we don't really know how long virtual YouTubers will continue to grow.
> ただ、それでいいと思ってるんです。次に「来る」と思った領域があったら、そこにどんどん張っていく。
However, I think that's fine. If I see a field that I think will be the next viral thing, I'll just expand into it.
> なんせ僕は短期集中タイプなので(笑)
After all, I am a short-term-focus type of person (lol).

What do you guys think is the "next big thing" in Riku's eyes?

The axing of Niji ID should be a major red flag.
Niji ID is doing fine, not in negative and drama-less.
ID is a future big market for vtubing, yet he chose to kill the brand for the sake of short-term things like IPO, which shows that he is never interested to be in this industry for long to invest in a future market like ID.

You just need to look at the date of the article to see why he is talking like that. 6 June 2018 its so early in the companies history that SEEDs isn't even a thing yet and literally everybody was saying vtubers are just a fad. Some people even still try to say it until this day. At a time when it wasn't clear if vtubers would even be popular in a years time he is saying that if vtubers in general as a market fade into obscurity and lose popularity then he thinks he is particularly suited to quickly moving onto something else because he works best in short concentrated bursts which is good for reacting quickly to trends.

Not sure why people like OP want to try twist some statement about the quite clearly precarious future of the vtuber industry 4 years ago into him somehow meaning that he is going to sell his stock in Anycolor tomorrow because that's not what its about at all. He got the immediate results OP references from Nijisanji with the success of Mito hence why he stuck with the business.

Didn't they also release only like a fraction of the shares? I heard that's what made a hostile takeover impossible and I guess it also means that he can't just sell all his Anycolor stock even if he wanted to.

>> No.26218115

>>26217984
Yes it was a small percentage of the company only that was part of the shares released to the public and most of them were done by lottery too so you can't end up with one entity just buying them all straight up when they released. I think Riku owns around 43% of the business himself. No major shareholder in the company is allowed to sell for 6 months.

Truly mindbroken.
Your CEO has made his intentions clear years ahead of time. Hes not in it for the long haul. He does not care about your talents. Good content. Its all about money and nothing less.
Nijisanji will be his fifth company he burns to the ground. But go ahead and spin more delusional excuses how exposing himself as corpo loanshark was a good thing for your floundering future.

I'd like to believe you aren't actually retarded and are just pretending to be for tribalisms sake. The guy literally says those previous ventures folded because he didn't get the investment in them to get them off the ground. It's common place for entrepeneurs to have multiple failed start ups before they hit on a success it's considered part of the culture even. Silicon valley has that whole "fail fast" motto even. Hence why he is openly admitting to it. If it was seen as something terrible to be ashamed of there is no need for him to even mention it.

On paper in terms of the revenue they bring in during the last comparable period we have Anycolor is actually the bigger company. For the F/Y 2021 they had around 7.6bn yen revenue while Cover had 5.8bn yen. Ancolor's revenue increased to 14.2bn in F/Y 2022 but we don't have data to compare with for Cover.

>> No.26220726

>>26220288
I heard that Anycolor's spending is higher, though, which puts Cover on top when it comes to pure profit.
But since the spending probably includes reinvestment into the company, it's a question whether higher profits are a good thing here.

Yeah that is true cover was more profitable in the last set of financial results. But if we are talking about the size of the company it's kind of way off base to say it Anycolor isn't half as big when the bring in way more money.
