Condoms are not failure-free. Yes, a lot of failures are caused by improper usage but just by having sex you are still creating risks. Unless the brass can monitor and track all natives that sanalites copulated with I doubt they would relax the rule.

But since sanalites are originally from a different dimension, they may not even be genetically compatible with us for reproduction.
Although now that I think about it, everyone on Vitubia was originally from another dimension. Maybe that's why we somehow have a shared theology; they just came from /jp/ later than the rest of us.

Maybe, but unless the researchers found concrete proof, I doubt it. And the rule most likely would only extend to natives that have registered with the sanalite as couples at first. All other native would have to do the sanalites with protection and take post-coital contraceptives.

>Although now that I think about it, everyone on Vitubia was originally from another dimension. Maybe that's why we somehow have a shared theology; they just came from /jp/ later than the rest of us.
Sanalites are supposed to have come from alternate Earth(or the one are on rn). /jp/ is also supposed to have Chuubanite. You can probably make it so the chuuba era was kind of a lost history thing but that's kinda dumb with too many plot holes. It does sound very funny though.

Errghh... Bwain no work let me rephrase
Unless researchers found solid proof that Sanalites can't reproduce with the natives, the no sex rule would still apply. In the off case that they can reproduce AND the senate approved it, then the rule likely would only extend to natives that have registered with the sanalite as couples at first(depends on how citizenship for /nasa/ work i guess). All other native would have to do the sanalites with protection and take post-coital contraceptives, since they most likely still wouldn't want to disturb the local gene pool too much or risk damaging relations with the natives.

>> No.25739149

>>25738688
There's also other risk with sex between multiple partners. STDs are obvious. There's also psychological factors like sex addiction and other things. There's a reason why /nasa/ enforces monagamous relationships. Right now we're working on a compromise. If a Sanalite wants to have sex with a native, then the native has to marry the Sanalite. Which also means the native has to naturalize into a civilian of /nasa/.

>> No.25740332

>>25738467
The research isn't that interesting. We take a DNA sample. Which is taking a swap to the inside of your mouth. Then geneticists spend months to a year analyzing the DNA. Now, /nasa/ values privacy of your DNA. The research will only be used to find genetic compatibility with reproduction. Once research is done the samples get destroyed so no other researcher can exploit them. Like making bioweapons that target a specific race like what happened in World War 3 in Terra 2027 CE.

Btw, when I thought of Sleeping Giant's Ridge, I imagined the name to be literal as the sudden elevation can be considered unusual across the usually flat terrain and this elevation is literally due to forests growing on top of a large group of Guardians that have been sleeping together for thousands of years. Just a sneakpeak into the loredump I plan on writing about the territories

Question for /Risu/:
Where would important foreign visitors stay during their visit to a city? What sort of building would it be, and what sort of treatment can they expect? What would be expected of them?

Ok thats a good one. I will say in the case of most cities and definitely the ones on the shores that visitors will have accomodations in the form of wooden motels along the beach. Risuners tend to live up in the trees and since foreigners cant climb trees like they can, it became necessary to include a ground level to risuner settlements. It wouldn't be anything too special just your basic needs. Hope visitors like fruits and nuts because risuners eat off the land aka meat will be an extreme rarity. They would be treated nicely assuming they behave of course. All foreigners are suspectible to punishment via the geese chamber if they fuck up too hard however. No exceptions for geese chamber.
A brief summary of motel rooms would be your stereotypical room with bed, drawers, windows for light, and storage areas. We use outhouses because i dont think modern toilets have yet to be invented in /risu/. Oh and as for their behavior just respect that risuners are really fucking different. Our money is nuts so deal with it. And natives of course love to exchange nuts in both food and in bodily fluids. Obviously no rape since even risuners need consent or else geese chamber. Same punishment for cheating if you commit to a risuner. No exceptions. Anything else or is there anything i missed?

The “Honeyed Stallion” was having one of its best nights of the year. The local Lunaito regulars were at the bar, like most evenings, but there were also horned sheep people going out to celebrate the upcoming festival. More significantly, however, this bar was where much of the LABEE had elected to congregate and spend their evening. Most of the current customers were Deadbeats and their accompanying Luknights.

In the noisy basement, even a bony hand slapping an oak table repeatedly did not draw attention. “No, no, no! I’m telling you Shige, this LAB ain’t gonna be like your average goddamn Black Fleet warehouse! We gotsa castle the shit outta this, tall-ass stone walls to keepsa’ all the schizos out! Otherwhere, we’ll be overrun stat.” The admiral was laughing and laughing. “Ah, brother, you’re drunk! Either on those sexy Lunaito bricks, or on all that mead you’re chugging! You’ll see, once we’ve got good, strong frigates patrolling the ice cube sea, we won’t even need to lock the LAB’s doors, we’ll sink any pirates before they even get to look at it, har!”

The glasses rattled when Kenichi’s palms struck the bench. “Bah, I’ll be the one making those boats too, you know? Those ice cubes of yours get pretty big, I dread how much we’ll need to plate the hulls if we want ‘em to shrug off impacts.” Professor Marsh pointed an accusatory finger at the Deadbeats as he interjected: “Bah, you skeletons and your boats! Admiral, surely you remember the schizo encounter density charts I showed you! Our Arctic schizos do a bit of boating, but they’re fucking shite at it, they can’t sail to save their lives, literally! If the base got attacked, odds are it would be a land assault, coming in from our border with the devious Matsurisu, or perhaps beach walkers from /moon/. These Northern coasts are poorly guarded, everywhere in the North of the continent.”

Shige thumbed off a tear of laughter before responding. “Well, maybe we can add a crenellation or two on there, if it gets your bones so hard, hahaha.”

Gaia repressed a sigh while the middle-aged men acted out their antics. After excusing herself to get a fresh mug, she headed to the upper floor of the tavern. It seemed a bit more quiet. In the last couple of days, Gaia had felt all this expedition was doing was traveling through pretty vistas and cities, getting wasted and eating too much overly sweet food. Was this why her friends told her she hated fun?

This floor seemed a bit more her speed. The conversation was quieter, the lighting more relaxed. A sheep-like harpist was playing an ambiance tune on a small stage. Gaia hailed Suiko and Akira and joined them in a more private booth. Just as she was sitting she noticed their unusually serious expressions. “Hey gals, what’s going on?” Akira gave Suiko the side-eye before going off. “This shady-ass individual is trying to make me do her dirty work.” The agent lifted her hands in mock despair. “Oh, the humanity, I ask my good friend the professor for a little help and now I’m an evil schemer. Look, no need to be shady about it, I just want you to bring it up. I’m sure if you’re cool about it, he’ll spill some beans.” Gaia lifted an eyebrow. “Beans? What beans?” Lunaitos seemed to enjoy some bean-based dishes, but Gaia failed to see how this related to the topic.

Suiko gave her a rundown while Akira crossed her arms. Gaia had followed the developments of the Rushian Cataclysm closely, and with horror. Many Fandead refugees had arrived to Moriji following the event. Hounded as they were by schizos of all sorts, the Deadbeat’s island was one of the few places with both the will and the capability to keep them safe. Saiko claimed there were rumors of a new group coagulating in the ruined wasteland, but intel was lacking. However, couriers coming from that corner of the continent had entered the Campus district recently… Which Professor Marsh had visited that day.

Gaia already felt a headache coming. “Sure, fine, what’s the big deal, can’t you just ask Puffison for news of /rushia/, Suiko?” Suiko scratches her head. “Ah well, that’s just the thing, I’ve no reason to even think of talking about /rushia/ with him. He doesn’t know that I followed him to the entrance of the University, or that I pickpocketed the courier’s wallet to check where came from. It would be hella suspicious if I came to him with that.” Suiko shrugged casually, just as Gaia quietly screamed: “Y-you did what!?” Suiko dismissed her anger with a smile. “Hey, chill, don’t worry about it! I dropped the wallet near one of those patrolling Luknights, I’m sure it found its way back to him, probably thought it fell out of his pocket somehow. But ANYWAY, that’s why if ol’ reliable Akira could go chat with Puffison, she could find a way to bring up the topic naturally, right?”

Gaia was extremely annoyed, mainly because this Mori-doomed girl had a point. Lunaitos getting reports from the devastated land of the Fandead was good intel that they’d have to investigate. Their refugees from /rushia/ lived comfortably, but if their homeland was inhabitable once more, they’d probably want to be repatriated. “If the Lunaitos don’t share those reports, I guess we might not have their full trust yet. Let’s not rush into anything for now. I think Lucia would let this sit for some time before pushing any further. It’s not like our Fandead diaspora can’t wait a couple more weeks.”

A grin snaked its way onto Suiko’s face, and she chuckled. “Ah, well, if I have to get Lucia’s permission, I’ll definitely have to wait. She’s booked for the evening.” Gaia turned her head towards where Suiko was staring, and felt her cheeks flush. Lucia was seated in a dark corner, her arm on the shoulder of that one Lunaito archivist she’d been spending time with. The blue-haired lady giggled while the tall Deadbeat girl whispered something in her ear. ‘Definitely not gonna interfere with that.’ Akira calmly noted: “These two have really been getting along.”

Gaia’s forehead was now buried in her hands and said: “Is there anyone here I know, who is neither annoying, nor shady, nor getting laid?” A finger snap rang in the cubicle and Suiko offered: “I got you! The Honourable Luknights over there are certainly none of those things! Got chat with them, if you’re too good for us.”

Gaia stood up and headed to Citrora’s and Jaggery’s table. Fruce hailed her first. “Naaa Commander Suzuka! You still owe me that sparring match, Rear Admiral Magnus let it slip that you fight with two swords! I must see that before we get to the coast.” Gaia clasped the Luknight’s forearm while agreeing. “That we should, Lady Citrora. It’s a useful stance when outnumbered. It’s commonly taught to Deadbeats headed into schizo territories.”

Fruce and Gaia talked shop for some time while Noravera stared at the harpist. She wasn’t even playing, just chatting with some Deadbeat officer, a Junior Lieutenant, based on his uniform. “Do you enjoy the music of the Watamates, Lady Jaggery?” Gaia’s question snapped the Luknight out of her distraction.

“Ah, it’s quite nice, I prefer traditional Lunaito pieces, but it’s fine. Much better than rap at least.” Gaia’s eyes lit up. She always felt like the only officer in the whole Black Fleet to prefer the Goddess’ more melodic blessings instead of her aggressive raps. “Ah, I totally get what you mean!”

This is when the Deadbeat climbed onto the stage with the Watamate harpist, and Noravera’s gaze snapped back to that direction.

Lady Citrora had a strange smile while she asked Gaia a question. “Say, do you know the name of this officer?” Commander Suzuka looked again. The man now faced them. He was tall and broad-shouldered, with thin limbs. His jaw was to shave with, and his cheekbones, sharp. Unusual for male Deadbeat, he had short hair, white with the slightest tinge of pink. The vast majority of their men were bald. Undeniably handsome, Gaia had to admit.

“That’s my younger brother, Calvinus. Don’t mind him, he’s rather unserious. Speaking of, he practices his rap more than his katana. I fear that his climbing on stage means we’ll be subjected to his skills.”

Fruce chuckled for a bit. “Oh, we' know what he’s up to. Me and and Lady Jaggery have been… ‘Subjected’ to nearly every performance of his in the ship’s hold.” Before Gaia could answer, the voices of the younger Suzuka sibling and the Watamate rose in unison.

The harpist played and sang a duo performance with the officer. Gaia recognized it as a musical blessing which appeared simultaneously on Moriji and in /bakatare/. The opportunities for both complementary parts of the song to be performed together were rare. Within her brother’s repertoire, Gaia had to concede this was one of her favorites.

The voices of the rapper, singer and harp made for a beautiful harmony. Noravera was utterly transfixed by the song. Applause and cheers erupted when the duo concluded, but the Luknight remained conspicuously silent.

After thanking the harpist and hugging her, the officer headed towards his sister. “Hey sis, nice to see you making friends!” Gaia scowled. “Watch it, you’re talking to a superior.” The man laughed it off. “Aye aye sir, no need to rub it in every time. Anyway, why don’t you introduce me?”

Gaia was sorely tempted to tell him to fuck off, but she didn’t want to act like that in front of the Luknights. “I present to you, veteran of the Kiryu-Kai wars and Luknight of Battle, Lady Fruce Citrora. And the Noble Luknight Lady Noravera Jaggery, the nation’s Moriji ambassador, and the one to thank for this expedition occurring.”

Calvinus bowed deeply. “Nice to meet you, my ladies. I am honoured to have rapped for such an august audience.” He kissed the warrior’s gauntlet and Jaggery’s hand. “Noravera, can I call you Nora? Nora, I did not see you cheer; did you dislike my performance? You seemed to enjoy it, since I noticed you mouthing the lyrics.”

Gears seemed to literally turn in Noravera’s head for a moment until she answered. “Ah, hm, sorry, it was… ᵍᵒᵒᵈ.” Calvinus smiled brightly. He seemed to hear her, despite her whispering the end of the sentence. “I’m glad to hear it! Say, if you’re my dear sister’s friend, you must be an interesting person. Might I accompany you to the Sheep’s Festival?”

Redness crept up Noravera’s neck while she gave her diplomatic response. “Well, it would only in our nations’ relationship best interest that I present our culture to one of our Deadbeat companions. I accept your invitation for the glory of Himesama, nanora.”

‘She must feel embarrassed to have to go with Calvinus. I shouldn’t have let him put her on the spot like that,’ thought Gaia, oblivious.

On one hand I thought about building houses in /nasa/ like Skyrim where most of the houses are dug in the basements. On the other hand south of the river is wetland. Wetlands flood. Especially in the summer. So when Sanalites build new houses we're going to have to 1) build them above ground and 2) insulate and vent the houses to protect them from the tundra cold. Also another problem /nasa/ has is we have to put our cables above ground due to flooding and moisture. So we're going to need tall utility poles to carry power from the station. Building power lines is for later. For now /nasa/ will do fine with wood/peat burning stoves and power generators. And if we have to we'll use natural gas. At least /nasa/ is an expert at aeronautics. So engineering air tight tundra warm houses with air filtration is easy. We just need power and fuel to keep them running.

They would at least have a few 3D printers available I think. Just look at how easy it is to print guns nowadays. If they can keep the printer cartridges topped up they should be able to mass manufacture automatic arms and their ammo. More heavy-duty parts like barrels can be made relatively easily with CNC machines. Though it depends on what specialisation /nasa/'s ship has in their fleet I guess. If it's an agricultural ship then their manufacturing capabilities would be quite limited. With only some available to manufacture spare parts when needed.

/nasa/'s long guns are railguns but our small arms are conventional cartridges. F0RKs are three-pronged partisans where the tips electrucute whoever they poke. F0RKs can be set to stun for policing. When /nasa/ rebuilds manufacturing we're going to make machine guns to fight off schizo trolls. We have a "few" machine guns set up around the station but ammo is limited. Also the guns are old and damaged. Machine gun training is done in VR with simulated feedback. Granted the simulation doesn't accurately simulate old damaged guns.

Also direct energy weapons are a meme. The power needed to make them lethal is more than a battery you can reasonably carry can make. /nasa/ maybe deep space tech, but we're still hard sci-fi for the most part. CR-USTs at best would have laser streams since we do have mining lasers. Its also near impossible to make an efficient machine gun out of a railgun.

That said microwave guns are a thing now. It won't kill you fast, but it'll make you ears ring, itch, and burn to the point pain overcomes you and you have to move out of the way.

As an Orbiter Station, /nasa/'s primarily an agricultural vessel. Our specialty is food production and harvesting. That said all stations have some arms manufacturing as the smaller battleships would need to board Orbiters to restock supplies. However most of our arms manufacturing was lost when our factories were detached. We have some arms manufacturing in the station, but its just barely enough to protect ourselves. We'll have to rebuild arms manufacturing when we rebuild factories. And even then we'll stick to making 19th century revolvers, rifles, and gatling guns.

Even if you can't fit it inside a portable package, you should still be able to mount it on a vehicle(especially as /nasa/ have railguns). Probably not, since given the circumstances of speaking to potential customers from an alleyway, odds are such as restaurant won't be particularly popular or legal in that location. In which case, trying to get random people on the streets to join in the fun would basically be inviting unwanted attention. If a /meat/ cult has to operate in a hostile country, chances are it would be much more secretive and make use of more legal establishments as covers.
Personally, I opted for something akin to a BDSM club for my story set in /kfp/, but more regular brothels or just restaurants could work fine too, as I assume the skills in preparing long pork meals are mostly transferable to regular pork and other foodstuffs. If it's operating in a more friendly environment, it would likely just be an open establishment since it doesn't need to hide itself.

I just found the idea interesting when I was writing the /meat/-/risu/ story. I guess it depends on what /risu/ has to offer, and of course, /risu/'s position makes it both a good friend to have, and it's always fun to mess with /morig/ ICly

Well, basically /meat/'s way of refining chuubanite is to make people eat them, and then use their enriched body for material. One use of their blood and other "unusable" parts is to use them to enrich the fields. As a result, those fields are pretty high in chuubanite concentration as well, and /meat/ chuubanite's effect means they do grow fast (although maybe not as fast as their /risu/ counterpart... maybe, since it has other benefits). It's probably something noticeable, but I don't imagine the Risuners to either stick around long enough to observe the difference, or ask /meat/heads how they tend their farmlands.

>> No.25791828

it's also worth mentioning that /meat/ chuubanite makes things go through the life cycle at an accelerated rate, hence why it would cause self-replicating ie organic material would regenerate.

Maybe make it so that since /meat/ chuubanite accelerates living things' life cycle, it also makes crops rot or wither faster? So in order to actually feed people, the chuubanite concentration is controlled and thus the acceleration effect is not as powerful as /risu/ and /uuu/'s chuubanite.

Indeed, see https://rentry.org/vtwbg-meatlore#chuubanite for more details. While they're indeed used for tattoos and scars to help enhance some bodily functions (or do general chuubanite stuff), the healing effect is arguably more important in the grand scheme of things. /meat/ also uses chuubanite-enriched herbs for their smoke bombs, but I think chuubanite enhancing drug effect is a common effect of chuubanite.

pretty sure we already talked about the balancing factors to it, but that wouldn'
t be one of them. most of the problems from /meat/ chuubanite are that they cause imperfect regeneration, from cancer and other types of mutations, to regrowing something in a deformed way. the regeneration works on a cellular level, so unless the thing develops some form of necrosis, there's no reason the organism as a whole would wither away at a faster rate. with that said, telomeres might degenerate faster, so the likelihood of mutations would increase over time. still no withering away, as you described.

I'm thinking more about over ripening and the rotting that comes after. Since the process most likely involves the plants actually absorbing the chuubanite in the soil, it makes sense that it'll also be present in the fruits or whatever part you harvest out of the crops. And that would most likely continue even after they are harvested. The bacteria, fungus and weeds would probably be a challenge to manage too. Those might cause crop failure if it's not managed

>> No.25793124

>>25792755
Funny you mentioned that... the part in https://rentry.org/k2qfq#the-city was initially meant to only be for the fungus, but if we go with that idea, her response of needing to harvest it quickly makes even more sense. That said, I don't think all of /meat/'s fields would be enriched with chuubanite, especially given the drawbacks we're seemingly establishing now. So, some fields would be enriched, have higher yields and potentially special effects in the produce, but requires more resource to both grow and tend the crops; while the more mundane farmlands have normal growth rate but don't have all these hussles.

if you know much about how agriculture works, you might know that there are some ways to organize crops so that they can defend themselves against these kinds of things. i think a lot of it falls under the branch of permaculture, but the aztecs used it a lot, especially with the three sisters (which are crops that we have) but basically, it's when you use nature to naturally, and automatically take care of itself.
furthermore, if the crops ripen and rot faster, it would likely lead to more crops being produced throughout the season/year, as 1) the crops can be composted, along with a perhaps somewhat reduced amount of chuubanite, allowing for the controlling of this process, and 2) the fact that crops put nutrients back into the soil means, depending on the crops you are using and how you organize them, you could have yield for as long as they are in season to grow.
lastly, preservation methods, though far less efficient than modern techniques, have existed since ancient times. i would have to consult with someone who knows better, but we might be able to keep a fair amount of our food throughout the year, reducing the potential difficulty caused by this. with that being said, it makes sense that it would cause crops to ripen quicker. i wonder what evolutionary trends would arise in places that have more chuubanite.

chuubanite is in all life forms, and i have to insist, based on how we have described it, it wouldn't be a stretch to say that removing chuubanite would have a similar effect on all life, from the magical to the mundane, as removing one of the 4 amino acids associated with dna. there wouldn't be any life to survive after all chuubanite disappeared, even assuming the explosion wouldn't create a inhospitable, radioactive hellscape similar to the ruins of /rushia/ immediately after it's fall. just ignore it if it's getting too complex or autistic for you to enjoy, as long as you let the rest of us enjoy the autism.

I think it would depend on which chuubanite you're looking at. I could see organisms being reliant on /meat/ chuubanite, since it affects cellular reproduction, so everything would be used to having a different growth rate, suddenly growing slower would cause creatures to reach maturity slower, some plants will be out of synv with seasons, etc. It wouldn't be instant death for everyone like removing an amino acid, more like an extinction event where only more robust/redundant/adaptable lifeforms would survive. And that's for /meat/, you'd have to go case-by-case for each chuubanite. Some chuubanite probably doesn't even affect lifeforms.

magic works on a microscopic scale, especially if we are using the magic quanta interpretation which is currently the most grounded interpretation we have, and therefore the best. everything is supposed to have a clear effect on the physical universe, be it /meat/ magic, or /morig/ magic, or any other kind of magic. all of them would absolutely have an effect on life, regardless of whether or not the chuubanite effect is geared towards life, because life finds a way. any advantage evolution can make use of can and will be utilized.
it's a matter of time, and chance, but that chance is quite high, especially when you consider the fact that this is taking place over such a long period of time, and between two different realms of existence.
even if you say the individual magical effects of chuubanite are too chaotic for life to evolve, ignoring the tendency for life to stay relatively put in whatever region they evolved in or immigrated to so long as it has the resources they need to survive, combined with the matter vs. antimatter sort of process that occurs according to the magic quanta interpretation that would cause those regions to have a higher natural abundance of a certain type of chuubanite over the others, then we still have the element itself, vitubium, that would in one way or another influence evolution. remember, chuubanite has unique properties on it's own, as described in the chuubanite rentry.
moreover, to hammer in that this would very much be an extinction event, i'll just note that ecosystems can be overwhelmed if large enough changes happen rapidly, such as the somewhat sudden loss of a variety or species that play an integral part in said ecosystem. if you somehow are able to argue that the number of extinct species from the loss of an entire element would be small, even while acknowledging that magical species that make use of that element specifically exist in a higher abundance on this planet, then you still must accept that it would put a lot of stress on the species that do survive for a while until the ecosystem reorganizes itself.
just to remind you, this is all over the idea that causing all chuubanite to go supercritical to get rid of magic completely would leave survivors to repopulate the world. it's good that there are natural explanations for why that would be a terrible thing, even if it were possible (though i suspect it wouldn't be).
i don't see why it wouldn't be both natural, and beneficial to the cohesion of the setting to have biology evolve to chuubanite, especially since it would allow us to be more creative with our speculative biology. we already have dragoons and roseys, and possibly the owls if /who/ decides to go through with it, not to mention the dragon/tortoises that /nasa/ has been enjoying for a while. we can get more creative, but the more species we think of, the more we need to explain what effect they have on their ecosystem.
that was a lot, so hopefully it gives you a lot to work with. btw, in case you couldn't tell, i enjoy this kind of topic a lot, so if it gets annoying or tedious for you, please inform me and i'll see if i can't reel it in to hopefully make it easier on the both of us. of course, i'll do the same if it becomes relevant.

i guess that comes down to terminology, then. my thought was mostly on epigenetics, which arguably plays a bigger role than genetics in how a gene expresses itself, but getting into detail about that would be more tedious than just comparing it to the basic stuff people already know. well, if we are in agreement i guess we don't have anything to discuss. i'm happy that we came to an agreement, but i was kind of hoping we would get to discuss more stuff more extensively. i suppose the stuff we discussed already was good enough, though. thank you for engaging in it, regardless. it was fun while it lasted.

We understand that chuubanite is either a mineral or a rock or the result of vitubium binding or whatever.
There's a clear start point to how chuubanite affects the world, we do have examples of chuubanite affecting life in zones of high chuubanite activity as /morig/ has been described, but this is all depending on the quantity of available chuubanite and the existing supply and just how much does chuubanite difuse and radiate. Before finding out these numbers we can not declare that every single life form in the planet depends on chuubanite or has integrated it in its genetics, after all, not every place has as much chuubanite as /morig/ does, and there are materials that hamper the way chuubanite works in the world (like lead and noble gases).
Lifeforms living near deposits of radioactive material would be affected by it in the way they grow, but not many lifeforms in the planet depend on radioactive material as a "life force".

it is radioactive, but none of the radiation is ionizing, so it is likely also rather slow to decay, assuming i am not mistaken. as for "zones of high chuubanite activity" 1) it's high prevelance, activity implies something else. 2) chuubanite has existed from the beginning of both /vt/ and /jp/. if you know anything about how diffusion works you would know that the sheer fact that /morig/ has chuubanite in their air proves it is already everywhere. with every breath you take, you also breathe an incomprehensibly small portion of julius ceasar's last breath. every region has their own chuubanite, presumably in some amount of abundance, to say it is rarer than carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, or even water would be creating a ratio that might force us to change how we have designed our systems in a potentially dramatic way. if the only reasonable contention with what i have posited left was over the quantity of chuubanite in this setting, then i am in a pretty good position, all things considered.

Fucking what? Chuubanite being as common or even more common than oxygen, carbon, nitrogen does not make any sense at all, that very same thing you are saying would force us to change much more and throw away a lot of lore. Again, just because uranium or plutonium exists in the world does not mean that every single being on earth would become dependent on it, same as other radioactive materials, radio waves aren't ionizing either and they sure as hell aren't becoming a building block of life. We do have implied loss of energy from chuubanite, when a deadbeat is away from their island the person starts to lose certain chuubanite affinities such as the bone density. Chuubanite has been described as having an effective range multiple times in various lore entries.
>chuubanite has existed from the beginning of both /vt/ and /jp/
Chuubanite has existed since VTUBERS, not the beginning of /jp/. It simply has not existed in the world for enough time for it to change it in deep ways. That'd require millions of years.
>>25805387
Chuubanite isn't oxygen, it doesn't spread like oxygen, frankly, a comparison to methane would probably be more fitting, /morig/'s enriched air by their own lore has limited spread (the area it affects is still a pretty big chunk) and is emitted from zones near the volcano. It can be implied to be bonded with materials of the volcano or other stuff, A deadbeat would have to elaborate here. The point being, /morig/ chuubanite does not affect outside the island, so there's a point where chuubanite loses effectiveness. And this is considering that /morig/ is a geological place with a massive abundance of chuubanite. Once chuubanite loses effectiveness, then what's the evolutionary point in using it for the body?
>>25806107
This is all working on the input that chuubanite is supposedly everywhere, but this very same assumption fucks with actual real physics that we are trying to stay in, a bunch of implications that are too far reaching and would probably fuck with the lore of practically every nation.

Hey anon, deadbeat here, we've got entries on how chuubanite interacts with the human body. https://rentry.org/puuqw#mori-chuubanite-deficiency
Funnily, once the transformation is complete the bone density is one of the few adaptations that will probably stick around, because the cellular turnover of mineralized skeletal cells is slow.
Moriji chuubanite has affinities with hard materials, especially minerals. It bonds the most strongly with diamonds, and then other minerals such as those found in skeletons. The dirt all over the island contains some chuubanite, and this chuubanite diffuses into the air and water to an extent, but the concentration in the air is quite low comparatively because the chuubanite will tend to bond with hard materials instead. The dirt in the Underworld just has so much chuubanite it saturates even the air in the area.
I should make an entry focusing just on chuubanite...

NTA, but this part is the one thing he disagrees with. Not all chuubanite is necessarily useful for lifeforms, and not all lifeforms necessarily require chuubanite to live. diffusion and the laws of physics.
>but none that imply the complete butt fucking of the current world and its physics.
we established that it's less radioactive than we thought, and it only has it's magical effects under certain conditions, namely those described in the chuubanite rentry. it would break physics, and prior lore more to hand wave the abundance of chuubanite in some places than to just say it's more abundant that we initially said it was.
if you want, you can say that, since lead is fairly abundant, and since it cancels the magic effects, assuming we are taking that as canon (which i am in favor of) that therefore most chuubanite isn't in the right condition to have much of any kind of effect besides it's natural effects as a substance, in which case, ya, i could accept that as an excuse for why it would be less necessary for some organisms, but to say it isn't necesary, you would need to address, and then put limitations on speculative biology. limitations are useful for creativity, but as someone decrying the realism of this well grounded magic system for being too limiting, you would be a hypocrite to support such a compromise.
>>25813657
two worlds. billions of years. a substance that can controllably make use of what is effectively nuclear power at a small scale. all it takes is a single instance of a cell to make use of it and the arms race is on. the effect could be small, maybe it's more like how a deficiency in zinc or iron can kill you, but life as we know it would be radically different with the existence of such a substance.
if you want me to explain in detail exactly how an alien biology would make use of an alien element the likes of which we have never seen, then i must apologize, for i do not have the same level of expertise as /rose/anon when it comes to speculative biology, but if you can't see the clear evolutionary incentives, the high likelihood of occurrence, and that biology most certainly could develop in a way that made basic functions more efficient using chuubanite, then there isn't much i can personally give you at the moment. that is sure to change the more we think about it, but i'm guessing that wouldn't be sufficient for you.
just remember all the things chuubanite can do, from generating heat, to creating kinetic force, to generating light. all this being the more natural, universal abilities of it. imagine how many biological functions could be made more efficient with a substance like that. if the base biological functions that are integral to the most basic expressions of life rely this much on chuubanite, which would likely be the case if natural selection and chance allowed for it, then imagine what would happen in the hypothetical scenario that all of this element suddenly stopped working, even ignoring the explosion idea this whole discussion was born from.
if you think this isn't how evolution works, so be it, maybe my understanding of evolution is wrong, in which case i would love it if you would teach me, but this seems so utterly intuitive to me that i can't see it going any other way given the setting we have. at the very least, lets try to come to a compromise to see if the disagreements between us can be resolved.

>> No.25815830

>>25815468
Ah, I wouldn't worry about that! That's the beautiful thing about /vtwbg/, there's this layer of separation. We can write about thread drama, without having drama in the thread. We only have drama over chuubanite metaphysics and Kronies.
I have a few ideas for angles that the /kfp/ resistance could go. There were quite a few people who thought the collabs wouldn't happen at all, maybe they could be represented? Or, perhaps there could have been some raids on the festival location, a couple /kfp/molotovs thrown in. Though it doesn't feel like /kfp/ intruded on /tkmr/, maybe it would be more accurate to have some unrest and deadbeat/takamori worshipper persecution in the /kfp/ population centers instead.
Gotta keep in mind that with the way our time works, even if the visit was just two days IRL, it could have been weeks, maybe months in Vitubia.

>two worlds.
For a start, that's three words kek.
Alright, let me provide a few examples of how the universe can have something insanely useful, and not have life use it.
Two words: Piezoelectric Crystals.
Many natural crystals display piezoelectricity, quartz is the most common and well known.
Piezo electric crystals can transform strain into electricity, and electricity into strain. Through this, they can create noise, vibrate at extremely precise frequencies, and act as a powerful actuator.
Instances of organisms using piezoelectricity? Nothing, nada. I'm sure there's a bacteria out there that might do some weird shit with it, but for all means and purposes, piezoelectric crystals can be removed from the Earth, and all life will go on as it always has.
One word: Electricity.
This seems like an obvious one. Electricity lets you make motors, which have a much better power density than biochemical muscles. It also lets you transmit signals much faster than our neural system. It also lets you make circuits, which can make huge amounts of computations. Uses of electricity in life forms? Vanishingly rare. Some fish use it, like electric eels, and some sharks are sensitive to electrical fields. But by and large, electrical current is not used to do anything in nature.

I'd say chuubanite is similar to piezoelectric crystals and electricity.
You want chuubanite to generate a kinetic force, or do computations? You need to organize it as a glyph or as a circuit, which is too complex to occur naturally through evolution.
You want it to generate heat? Why? Dissipating heat tends to be more of a problem for most life forms, they don't need something to generate even more heat.
Generating light? Why? Bioluminescence is an extremely niche evolution found in few animals.
Basically, even if chuubanite can do amazing things, and is available, evolution is not necessarily going to be able to exploit those capabilities.

>> No.25817334

>>25816262
that's a fair point. as far as glyphs go, even if they are naturally formed, they would likely deform rather quickly over generations from the effects of mutations, and even over a life span depending on how complex the glyph might be, but that still leaves activator substances. still, this is a very well-argued rebuttal, so i should commend you for that.
i hadn't considered the conditions necessary to be met to be all that difficult for biology to replicate. with that in mind, i can definitely see it being less prevalent in nature than i initially suspected, though it still has enough room to form, and would still have an evolutionary advantage, that advantage would not be as overpowering due to it's overall rarity in nature, so it doesn't need to put as much limitations on speculative biology besides saying it is rare, we can get around the amount of magical creatures we make being large by saying there are even more non-magical creatures we haven't brought as much attention to that could even any imbalance. this sounds like an acceptable compromise to me, at least so far. what are your thoughts on it?

„I assume we are in full attendance? Then let us commence this secret meeting to decide this countries fate“

„Thanks RD-439, now then gentle bots, as you all are aware our Queen seems to have become very busy recently and has thus had less time to share her sacred homework with us to spread among the populace“

A big round of murmuring and chatter goes through the assembled Onobots, with a sense of grave, they all agree with this statement.

„It is truly disastrous, ohh Matron Lumi, why have you forsaken us?“

„You idiot, how dare you even think such a thing, the Matron would never forsake us, if anything this just proves as much of her time she must spend on us that she even has to cut down on homework time!“

„Ahh, how could this be, is the end nearing?“

„If I could ask for your silence.“

With their leader standing up and demanding silence, all bots are fixating their lenses on him as the leader begins his speech with open arms.

„Now the matter of the Matrons inte-“

„Excuse me sir?“

The voice of a woman suddenly interrupts the grand display of their leader as a waitress looks at the Onobots annoyed from a bit afar.

„Look we are happy that you have chosen our Store as your place of choice for your little get-togethers each time but each time you meet up you are kinda taking up half the store, wich means less space for our other patrons, so if I could at least ask you to order more than just some water, so we don't just make a loss on this?“

„Ahh, ohh, umm... is there anything you would recommend?“

With a glint of profit in her eyes, the waitress begins to smile

„But of course, for our esteemed onobots I would of course only recommend our most special deluxe package, one for each i presume?“

„...sure.“

„Coming right up, thanks for your patronage.“

And with a skip in her step, the waitress leaves the Onobots back to their meeting.

„U hum, as I was saying, our Matrons intentions aside, the lack of Homework for us to distribute among the population could prove to be fatal to the nation, we must do something about it.“

„Surely, without homework, how could the humans find the motivation to populate.“

„We could be facing a lack of children and near extinction soon if this continues, but what should we do.“

As the onobots look questioning to each other, one sits there with full confidence.

„My fellow bots, if I may have a moment, I think I have information that will prove to be a foolproof solution to this problem.“

„„OHH““ with big anticipation, the onobots look to their fellow brethren.

„You see, I have heard rumors that very soon we will be visited by Risuners that hail from the grand Trade road where we trade with /meat/. These Risuners seem to be an incredibly fertile folk from the reports I have received. All we must do is have homework made of them to inspire our people, and very soon we will receive the greatest boon to our population we have ever seen. It is by all calculations a foolproof plan.“

„This sounds very logical, does anyone have any problems with this plan?“

Not a single hand was raised, and the bots were in full agreement that this was the best plan possibly.

„WAITRESS THE CHECK PLEASE POSTHASTE, WE MUST HURRY TO THE PORT AND DRAW NAKED SQUIRREL PEOPLE TO SAVE THE NATION!!!“

-

At the biggest port of the capital, a bunch of Onobots were standing motionless, looking out to the open sea.

„RG-083, are sure about those rumors of the Risuners?“

„I am certain that I have heard of such a thing, yes.“

„And did these rumors also include a timeframe of when they would come?“

„I am afraid not.“

„So they could be arriving at any moment?“

„That is a possibility, yes“

„Well then we better wait just to make sure.“

>especially when you consider the fact that this is taking place over such a long period of time
It is not taking place over a long enough period of time to the point where it would affect the constitution of life itself. It is taking place over thousands of years from the moment Kizuna AI affects the world, and we both know that it's not nearly enough time for it to become an integral part of life of every living being. All examples you've given are creatures that use chuubanite, they aren't made of chuubanite.
On diffusion and the laws of physics, I was going to make an example using methane and micro-plastics but this >>25816262 guy states things in a much better way than I could do, just because it exists and it could be useful doesn't mean that the body will use it or evolve to use it. Especially things like methane that do exist in deposits but you don't breath in enough methane for it to kill you or for the body to use it.
>you would need to address, and then put limitations on speculative biology
This does already happen, the rosebud was investigating a lot on a more plausible dragon design, the sanallites debated a lot between themselves on how to make the turtles work. Now, I'll be as clear as possible with my point here, having chuubanite be everywhere and affect everything is more limiting than having it be in deposits, because when writing things, you will always have to consider "Just how does chuubanite affect this?", as opposed to "Should I have chuubanite affect this?", using chuubanite is up to the writers, we should not force it over them.
Sorry if I took long with this reply, but I got a little busy.

Fine then, whatever, I'll say it easy.
Chuubanite everywhere is boring and limiting.
Making chuubanite a "building block" of life comparable to amino acids is a frankly retarded idea.
The thing you are proposing is too universal and not friendly to worldbuilding because it forces chuubanite on to everything in the world.
That's what I'm saying.
What am I not understanding?
What am I failing to explain?
Oh do sincerely feel free to write an easier explanation, because you do not write things that are easy to understand, you write like a fucking maniac and constantly go over your own definitions in the same sentence.

>>25727196 (holy shit anchoring)

Diana logs ch 5.

Ok. I think I've finally made a decision. If these guys wanted to sacrifice us they surely would have done so by now. We are all still alive and able to roam around one of their big cities at will and they even prepared special accommodations for us. It's like they knew we were coming or just prepared very quickly
It is finally clear to me that our former enemies now see us as valuable allies like the rest of the world seems to. If I take logistics into account and simple math, then their crops take 3 times as long to grow as ours. No wonder all the other nations seem to like us so much. All their food and trees take ages to grow. We dominate the fruit and lumber markets.

Aside from that I think I finally came to my senses as to why they wanted their own risuners among their people. Naturally we are fast runners and amazing tree climbers compared to everyone else. I guess they wanted our natural speed in their hunter ranks? Makes sense when you think about it.

Out of everyone in the crew I think there are only 2 people left who still want to see everyone here dead. But even they are starting to have doubts after seeing the gems and the room accommodations. Not to mention the nuts here are quite tasty. The meat that they usually eat is actually surprisingly good. Sometimes I forget that some risuners do like to hunt animals back home for food on occasion.
Their magic is a whole other story. I never knew exactly they utilized what they do with raided people and to be quite honest, I really don't intend on finding out. From my limited research however it seems to be some sort of magic that deals with life and enhances their bodies even further. I could be completely wrong but that is what it looks like. They seem to have to do it manually and their tattoos are also a factor.

Now on to the gems. These gems they have on display here is really impressive. Not only are the colors really nice but they have been cut to look as presentable as possible. Obviously someone went out of their way to present these to us. Did these guys know we were coming all along? Guess were not a sneaky as we thought. Anyway the gems are what the witches seek and they pay some damn good nuts for them so I told the shop owner I would like as much variety as possible. One of each if that was possible.
I even told him because risuners value gem variety over having a lot of a specific kind that risuners would be willing to give a helping hand around the town for the few months longer that we are willing to stay. He seemed pretty pleased with the offer as far as I can tell.

The last thing of noticeable interest is of course nut exchanging. Although I know it's every risuners responsibility to exchange nuts with other cultures and tradition (not to mention I'm really eager to get some action as it's been a while) I just can't for some reason. Something just doesn't feel right. If it gets really bad I might hook up with one of their risuners just to get it out of my system. I know half my crew by this point has already been getting their nuts in with the locals already.

If they ask of it in exchange for the gems then fuck it I'll do it. All of them looked beautiful and it would earn me an insane amount of nuts back home so why the fuck not.

I don't know if /morig/'s pre-history would have a meteorite impact on Mt. Mori or not. Man the more I research meteorites the more I keep thinking about pre-history. There was a time when meteor impacts where common when the solar system was young. Most meteorites are found buried underground for millions of years.

Also I would assume iron-nickel meteorites would make terrible scythe heads. They'd be pretty at least if made right.

sorry i was late to respond. it is not limiting, you are using the wrong word for it. what you mean to say is that it is tedious. adding a new question to ask is fundamentally incapable of limiting your response, especially since we have apparently confirmed that lead disables chuubanite, and that the degree of how influential chuubanite is is now less, though all i was originally proposing was that the fundamental aspects of life might use chuubanite as a short cut to save energy.
it is friendly to world building, it might not be friendly to newcomers and people who are too lazy to care about world building, in which case they can ask for help from people who are more interested in this topic. your first response to me was you apparently assuming my example of how powerful diffusion could be was actually me saying that life is specifically dependent on julius ceasar's last breath, completely ignoring the fact that i had already made my arguments for why, provided chuubanite was sufficiently abundant even outside of "regions of high prevalence", life would naturally evolve in such a way that it would become dependant on it.
i have since changed my mind after someone with a higher caliber of argumentation showed me that it might be more complex than i initially assumed. i have conceded that point, and now hold a different opinion.
your entire line of argumentation was strawman after strawman, failing repeatedly to address anything that i said, or acknowledge the fact that i even said them. in fact, it seems like you haven't payed much attention to any of these discussions since the beginning, since i can't find much indication that you were aware of anything i didn't explicitly tell you. the whole thing was a rather pathetic display, to be quite frank.
>converge on Chuubanite being a mineral that originates from the ground and has spread around the globe
how many of the different suggestions did you read? carbon is found in the ground, it is also one of the fundamental building blocks of life. our answer was effectively a combination of the options, that it is an element that is spread naturally everywhere, that everything doesn't inherently have chuubanite, but that it is in more or less everything. this is why /morig/ can have chuubanite in it's air.
do you literally think i have been saying that chuubanite has to be inherent to every single thing, without a single exception. that would be yet another olympian error on your part. that's the whole point of bringing up ceasar. if you read even the most immediate predecessor of that response you would have figured it out. pretty much, your entire tactic has been to grossly misrepresent my argument and repeatedly attack a strawman without so much as listening or acknowledging a single fact that contradicted you, even going so far as to butcher the definition of words to make arguments that sound more impactful than they actually are.
>you write like a fucking maniac and constantly go over your own definitions in the same sentence.
at least i provide my definitions, and try to be comprehensive with my responses. to be honest, ever since the matter has been settled, you have become irrelevant to this discussion. the only reason i am continuing it is to give you critiques on your elementary style of argumentation, but i suspect even that will fall on deaf ears, all too eager to interpret whatever the hell you want. in times like these, picrel is a good analogy to my condition. i'll try to be bigger than that from now on, if i can.

Also, I like the way you think. I already had a /uuu/ deep wood horror entry rolling in my head for a couple of days now, Thought some parts on the same shift I thought up the bad end for /nasa/. Would still have to get down to write it, however. And then channel my inner UUUU and get some fauna images to post it MUAHAHAHA!!!(jk ofc)

I read a bit of speculative evolution a while back that possibly, instead of evolving lungs, insects could further evolve their spiracle-based circulation system to increase its surface area by having it grow in sacs on the outside of the body. The idea is that in evolution, mutating an existing system is usually "easier" than evolving a new system. Those sacs would be mostly be air-filled, and thus would act as good thermal isolation, and the arctic cold would also be a supplementary evolutionary pressure to make the spiders bigger, as larger animals have a smaller area:volume ratio, which is beneficial if you want to preserve heat.
Just an idea from a non-sanallite, feel free to ignore. The spiracles could also simply grow small and numerous enough to essentially offer the same surface area and diffusion characteristics as lung alveoli.

Well, they don't have to be giant. They can be tiny spiders. As the arctic tundra is full of insects during the summer they also have spiders to eat them. And giant spiders are simply impossible in this current atmosphere. Now if we're dealing with another planet rich in oxygen then that's a different story. I wanted an excuse to post Frostbite Spiders.

As for the horror story you'll need a suit malfunction.

Wait, I retract my statement, apparently these fuckers have LUNGS. That solves one problem, I guess, oxygen intake. Heat I can work around, just like I did with Mossbacks. And yea, I usually try to tie in some sort of a mutation for existing/vestigial systems instead of creating a new one, since it's quicker(by evolution standards), and simpler. That's why our tortoises are actually related to all draconic species on the planet, with drakes being their closest cousins, followed by full dragons.

give them veins to diffuse via capillaries and a heart then just attach them to the air sacs, and boom lungs. would this work? idk there are other evolutionary pressures to stay small, like birds, but it would be cool

I think the size spiders got on earth was small cat-sized. And that was only due to the crazy amount of oxygen during that time period. Since the atmosphere is on par with modern day earth I don't think spiders will get bigger than tarantulas. That said if >>25835737 is plausible then we may see spiders get to be small dog sized.

I have to unleash my autism and specify these aren't lungs in the proper sense of the word, but yes, insects have more complex breathing systems than they get credit for.
Other ideas: spiders are godly ambush predators. I could see them taking the niche of polar bears in ice shelf ecosystems, waiting in ambush for seal-like creatures coming up to breathe.
>>25836195
Tarantulas got up to cat-size, but that isn't the limit of what a chitin-based exoskeleton can support. Centipedes show shit could get pretty freaky with the right evolutionary pressure.

You know, the more I look at it, the more possible it seems. Since the generations pass quickly, and there would be a veritable mountain of them, mutations are bound to arise in great number. And over time, they could develop a muscle that would contract their book lungs, turning them into real, human-like lungs. They even have muscles, the little fuckers.
So that would solve the bigger problem of the two if we wanna make them big. As for heat, could make them summertime predators only, and make them hybernate from early autumn to late spring, or simply make them really, really hairy, and able to retain what little heat they capture from outside sources. Make it so they have to take shelter every so often in warm corpses to capture heat, and make them a little smaller, maybe the size of large cats.

A full adult male mammoth would be excellent for tundra spider to lay their egg sacks in. The corpse would provide heat and insulation as the insides liquify. Once hatched the babies have food for the chilly spring. Though the carcass would be wrapped in silk for extra protection.

Speaking of silk it might actually be useful as a building material due to the sheer size of the threads. Hell spiders may be deadly but perhaps there's a way to use them after all. Or we can just set fire to everything like good old Austrailians do with spider infestations.

I would make them eat and hunt without producing silk, probably. Since their prey would be a lot larger, the silk would have to be magnitudes stronger to hunt effectively. And having them produce silk only for nests seems kinda wasteful from an evolutionary point of view. Idk, this is all just talks for now, I have yet to even open a rentry. Not like they are the first animal on the list, anyway. Still got the wooly drake, deer species(kirin subspecies perchance?) and mammoths(might just be this desu, I really like the idea) to write up.

Deers would be more like reindeer or moose. And we can have both mammoths and mammoth spiders. Hell having spiders look like mammoths may provide an evolutionary advantage. And spiders using silk for nests and egg sacks is still plausible. They won't use the nests to hunt. The nests are more for food storage.

>> No.25837889

>>25837332
Regarding the silk, I imagine it would have more to do with what kind of spiders these evolved from. If the spinnerets were already present, then they would probably remain in the larger species unless they proved to be a detriment. Evolution wouldn't bother getting rid of the web unless it had a reason to, so I imagine it would probably remain for nests and such as >>25837558 said.

Oh alright, I'll let you off the hook, you can get your mammoths. Also realizes that making them that big could put quite a strain on the ecosystem(specially if they are numerous) as they are purely carnivorous. Guess cat-sized spiders is what we get.

Also, regarding the kirin, which I still want to make our deer species evolve from, they can be as scaly or deer-like as the artist depicting them wants, so I would imagine our own being something like pic related. Would also make use of an event I already mentioned with Mossbacks, the warm period of around 5 million years ago, when what is today /nasa/ was covered mostly in dense forests, much like /uuu/ is to this day. And as the climate became colder, some /uuu/ tortoises and kirins simply adapted instead of retreating with the forest.
