The general rule of thumb is Twitch if your content is primarily based on livestreaming and YouTube if your content is primarily pre-recorded and edited.

>Do you think there's an audience for X, Y, Z content?
First, ask yourself if you would watch a streamer of your skill and experience. Second, do a check on social media and look to see if other streamers are already creating similar content. Don't limit yourself to vtubers, include traditional real life streamers to scope out a potential audience.

It's been like almost 10 years of kids saying their dream occupation is to be an eceleb.

If anything, vtubing favors older people because physical appearance doesn't matter, and the older you are the larger a repositiory of experiences and stories you'll have to fall back on, as well as probably being far less menhera. I'd say on average chuubas over 30 are more successful than under.
If you're interested just try it. It might take that long to get "good" at singing and rapping but you don't need to be good for people to enjoy your content regardless - just look at mori.

1) i have a youtube channel that ive been growing for the past couple years with ~1k subs, with anime related content but nothing vtuber related. how bad of an idea would it be to use it for vtubing activities? is it a better idea to start completely from scratch?
2) i want to do more than just play video games. i have a lot of IRL hobbies like keyboard building and model building, would love to stream them. is it safe to show my hands? D: should i wear latex gloves or smth? i still want to be able to retain my finger dexterity.

I think i've seen people convert anime channels to vtuber channels fine, it's how youtube algorithm categorizes your channel anymore. As for hand cams, you can use your naked hands with no issues at all, lots of people do it but some choose to wear gloves to hide their skin color/scars and other reasons to not reveal their hands.

Full body tracking is only worth it with SteamVR tracking. Aka either vive or index with vive or tundra trackers. The other solutions are way too janky or even more expensive.
Index kit with 3 trackers (legs and waist) will run you around $1300~1400.

I've trained myself to impersonate Kermit but I don't do it unless relevant. Though I intend to make it a request eventually.
I normally use my usual voice on a lower tone and occasionally swap to cartoon voice because I'm a manchild.

I have time, but I'm working 3 shifts and our system works misaligned from weeks so I'll never a single day where I'm always free to stream on a fixed time.

I've tried to keep the time fixed, so just my days keep switching, but its still a huge detriment compared to just streaming 3-4 days on the same time every week.

it's hard to explain but picrel is a small excerpt out of my shifts. these are early/late/night shifts respectively, and it's an 8 week cycle so it's guaranteed i'll never have a timeslot where i'm always available. I'll have to skip weeks or just stream at different days. It's not impossible to make it on that, it's just a slight debuff.
