Now sure, La+ and Koyori from Holo are also entertaining, but then there's a second boost, which is the ojousama kayfabe. We haven't had a proper, relevant ojousama chuuba yet and especially not one that plays an exaggerated character. I am in the same boat as the other anon. I don't even browse /vt/, salome has been the only reason for me to browse and post here. I have checked out other vtubers, where I hoped they could be fun but never find them too enjoyable. I don't mind checking a random vid by gura every now and then but I don't bother even subscribing to her or anyone else. I have, however, subscribed to salome, cared to catch her live rather than happen upon checking her video list just to fill out my boredom. I don't do this oshi stuff but so far she has been the only vtuber I get genuine entertainment and fulfillment from watching.

But Salome has done none of that. She came out, 100k people who never watched Vtubers decided this was the one where they must have ignored everyone else in Nijisanji and Hololive as just uninteresting before, and she has remained stable as a super-leader in CCV since her debut. That's probably around 60% of their population (I could be waaay off so please correct me), but if that's somewhat accurate then you're saying roughly 10M out of 70M Japanese people watch vtubers at least once a week. 1 in 7.
