/ggg/ is a resting and resupply stop just like /morig/ is. /uuu/ is priority one. Thats the one I will do first. /who/ and /nasa/ ill do later depending on what i feel like the order shall be but in the world they will all be visited more or less at the same time since its 3 exploratory fleets in one. Pic related. There should be a thing about nuts in the lore archive but if there is not then ill do it once I get home. And like a lot of people said even though the nuts will be preferred risuners will be smart enough to eat on occasion fruits and stuff. Anyway when I get home ill name the village elders and finish updating the settlement section of the archive. Hopefully finish up luknight log ch 4 while im at it. Later people.

I did not realize this until today. I think you'll enjoy the next rentry.

>>25391816
I was thinking going in order. Based on your route /who/ is the first land you'll encounter. /uuu/ and /nasa/ don't have sea ports. So you can land in /who/. Then visit the forest in /uuu/ from the south. Then to avoid the ice you travel to /nasa/ by land. Pod Village is close to the southern border. I'd advise against visiting the station unless you want to freeze outside. The station is taking no visitors at this time.

When I read books paragraphs are usually comprised of multiple beats in a sitting. And paragraphs do not double space between them unless the scene ends. Since this is read on rentry I double space between paragraphs for easier readability. I'm not a fan of spacing between each beat because sometimes beats are one scentence long. When I do shift between paragraphs its when the entire mood or subject changes. Since this is a table discussion the subjects are quite long. Thus paragraphs are longer than they should be.

Some ghost stories
~~~~~
"Maki,
How are you, my sweet?
It has been an exceptionally pleasant spring up north. I can only imagine how beautiful the cherry trees must have looked from the temple. The mist rolling off the mountain every morning must look even more exquisite from the peak of Mori herself. I haven’t visited since I was around your age, but I’m sure it’s every bit as breathtaking as I remember. I look out at the mountain from our window each day and think of you.
How goes your training? It’s the start of a new cycle, right? Be sure to make friends with those new girls. I’m sure they’re just as homesick and nervous as you were when you first arrived. Be a friend to them and show them how dependable you are, just like how Chisa and Elly took you under their wing. I still want to meet them, by the way!
Your father, worrywart that he is, wanted me to tell you to be careful. He says he’s been having a lot more encounters with some unsavory folk (not his words) that are a bit out of sorts and troubled of mind. They’ve definitely been popping up more often and getting rowdier to boot. Just last week, your father had to go help out Rebus when a few of them barged onto his property and started getting physical. Your father put them right as rain (his words) and I’m sure you could put them out even faster than that nowadays, but I suppose I can’t help but worry, too. The world is a dangerous place. Even if you have two years of shrine maiden training under your belt, do be safe.
We don’t usually see Ghosts this far north outside of Oppia, either, but Old Tilde swears she’s seen more black robes in the last few months than in the last 20 years combined. You know how she is, though. I haven’t seen any myself, of course, so I’m sure she’s just being jumpy and freaking out at the shadow of that gnarled old apple tree.
Other than that, the fish are just excited for the warmth as we are. The goddess is sure to favor us in the jamboree against /wah/ and /mep/ this year.
Your father and Mr. Iwanaga were out in the gulf in the fog one morning when it turns out they hooked the same tuna as a wah boat that was right next to them with their long, deep sea lines and they didn’t even know it. Then suddenly a risu boat comes between the two of them and managed to snag either the fish or their lines because your dad and the tako fisher wouldn’t let go and both ended up in the water. There’s a lot more to it than that including all of them meeting at sea with drinks, but I thought I’d give you the short version now before your dad starts rattling off the two-hour one when you get back.
Please let us know when next you plan to visit, so we can have a whole fish feast prepared ahead of time, and don’t be shy about writing home more often! We can’t wait to hear from you again.
With love,
Mom"
In a heartland town, Keiji is cleaning up the last of the drunks before closing bar. The patrons had been few but the regulars had been generous. He locks the building and sets his way home. The night is fair.
Along the way, a pair of men appear ahead of him on the sidewalk. Keiji can’t tell if they’re raving drunk or just raving, but they’re impossibly loud, irritating, as well as blasphemous with the kinds of things they were proclaiming. He prays for them to at least quiet down as they pass, but they get even more raucous and crude as if in response, suddenly talking about other blasphemy he doesn’t understand. He turns his head as they pass.
The sight of something underfoot catches his eye and he stops. Keiji considers the small, bound blue book he thought he briefly saw one of the men waving before he evaded eye contact.
Before he wonders, the sudden feeling of a presence touches the back of his neck at the same time the sound of the men is no more.
Blankets of red and sable descended from soundless flight like an owl. Sleekly-fitted arms underneath heavy black cloak. Gripped in knife-like fingers, an ornamented nodachi. Underhood, its face was a fox’s, long of eye and marked by intersecting umber.
Standing but twenty meters away, it looms like a phantom, feeling at least seven feet tall from where Keiji stood.
>like a phantom
Keiji reflexively drops the book, but even his body’s knee-jerk response in flight mode felt eons too slow. An eternity of quiet passes between an unbroken exchange with the fox, punctuated by the sound of leather meeting pavement. He doesn’t know if his wits will leave his mind before the last of the air escapes his lungs.
Mere seconds had passed.
The figure silently raises a finger to its painted lips. With as delicate a movement as it is, its weight in sheer presence exudes immense gravity over Keiji’s entire being, his eyes drawn to the slender black digit like a world to its star.
Keep silent.
The message was clear.
Keiji is more than halfway down the block before he knows it, set on no destination except away. He rounds the corner with shut eyes, desperate to turn away from what he’d seen. He cast that memory and the implications of it down the boulevard and into the darkness of night.
Black robes flow and melt against the backdrop of night—alongside the two men and their blue book—vanished like smoke.
Addition to the religion for /who/:
While there is a central religious organisation, the First Temple as it's called, holds no real power over the local temples, even less so the disparate branches of the faith. It serves more as a place for dialogue, debate and cooperation between the different denominations of temples. In a "secular" state, with the Religious mission of maintaining civilisation and spreading progress taken care of by the state, the First Temple also has no political power, its role only ceremonial. In more sinister terms, it's also where the government monitors the religious groups. The First Temple has its own clergy and holds official ceremonies for the state. Each local temple serves as a communal hub for the locals to bond over, but gatherings are not mandatory and very casual. Gatherings are usually held during a set day(usually at the weekend) or a festival. The priests are less moral arbiters like some other countries with strict religious hierarchy, and more the glue and lubricant that helps the community stay together. That role is left to religious scholars, politicians and the citizens themselves. Regarded as a kind of specialist and professional, their role is public and not separated from the ordinary citizens. They may help resolve any small conflicts that are not worth taking to the law, head funerals or organise local festivities(almost always with the help of the local administration).
Like many other nations that worship female deities, female clergy members are highly regarded. Female clergy outnumbers male clergy in the country. Clergy members, much like the casual nature of the worship, also do not wear religious clothing like robes and veils as they are reserved for ceremonial use unless it's a rule for their particular congregation. The organisation and avenues of advancements in the different congregations vary wildly just like their belives and practices, so it's not worth listing them all. But some very small temples without links to any bigger organisations would just take in orphans or willing youth to train them as the next generation of priests.
Prayers are generally done by making a Sign of the Owl and placing it in front of one's chest, the back of the hand facing out. The palms are straightened, fingers slightly spread out and one palm placed in front of the other(based of the front palm should touch the wrist of the backhand). With thumbs bending slightly backwards with the mid sections touching, forming two feathers or horns. It's also used as a formal greeting together with a gentle bow. Another religious hand sign is the "Defensive Mode". The pointer is raised slightly with the base of the thumbs half folded towards the centre of the palm. The hands are formed as a slight cup and then crossed at the wrist with the back of the thumbs facing outward. This hand gesture has many applications. It's used in a wide array of contexts, for example, when one wants to invoke spiritual protection during stressful situations and as sort of a sign of provocation, signalling firm confidence.
Owls are the national symbol and figures of worship. Many scriptures also suggest that the nameless one in fact assumes the form of an owl and watches over the country(but still under fierce debate like many other notions). As such, many laws are in place to protect them. For starters, they are not to be hunted or domesticated. Though owl houses are built in almost every backyard and are encouraged. Sharing stories of their feathery tenents is a favourite pass time of the Republic's citizens. Deforestation and hunting in areas with large owl populations are also restricted and monitored. The conflict between the ceremonial value and sacredness of owls is resolved by adopting injured owls and maintaining a line of domesticated owls that descended from them. They are taken care of by professional caretakers and are kept in spacious enclosures with occasional free flying time outside. These owls are trained to perform ceremonial duties(i.e. standing on a pole and getting fed occasionally) during processions. Outside of this, all attempted domestication is forbidden.
Owl feathers are popular decorative items that are used in lucky charms and wind chimes. In the military, the wearing of owl feathers denotes the rank of officer. All feathers are derived from the domesticated owls and occasional encounters in the wild. Finding one is considered a sign of good luck even more so than spotting a live owl. Feathers are commonly used as a stake during bets or even duels(well or just common bar brawls), with the victor taking them away as trophies. As intentional injury and capture of owls are punishable by boiling tar, none are willing to risk their lives for an otherwise relatively common item.
hey, i have a story to submit, archivists can feel free to clean it up to match the conventions of the world so far (eg. i don't know if nations are still referred to in the "/general/" format or if they have proper capitalised names)
spoiler just to put a black bar separating the pretext from the story itself
The Great Soda Heist
News travels fast. A group of rogue alchemists from /ringo/ had made an unsanctioned departure in the night, carrying a hundred barrels of Hope Soda. Given the nature of their cargo, the current events of the world at the time, and the direction in which /ringo/ enforcers watched them vanish over the horizon, it was easy to guess their intention. They sought to use that experimental miracle potion to aid civilians caught in the crossfire of the catastrophe unfolding in /rushia/. A noble goal, no doubt. Mine, perhaps, less so.
When the envoys of Hope arrived at the closest port to /rushia/ - a conveniently quiet fishing hamlet on the coast of southern /micomet/ - and began the tedious process of unloading the barrels, I was ready. The morning sun woke up my men’s muscles just in time for the ambush. From every angle, be it from the town itself or from clinging to the underside of the wooden pier, we emerged, slaughtering the poor alchemists without hesitation. What few were trained to defend themselves had their hands occupied with unwieldy fluid-filled cylinders.
News travels fast. But not faster than me. By the time the pitiable shouts of dismay had reached those still aboard, I was face-to-face and knife-to-throat with the vessel’s seeming captain. I seem to recall attempting to make some sort of quip regarding the situation, but he seemed distracted. Perhaps he was more concerned with the rapidly declining numbers of his crew.
“Who are you?” he stuttered out to me as the screams finally died down. My only answer was to smile, retrieve my pocket watch from within my coat, and throw it to him. Once I was sure he had a secure grip on it, I grabbed him by the collar and threw him overboard. To the tune of his sputtering in the water as he attempted to swim to land, my men began returning the barrels to the boat.
News travels fast. And it travels even faster when its epicentre is a lone survivor. As we took the cargo out to sea to rendezvous with the rest of our crew on our own ship, he took to the taverns of /micomet/. As we sank the stolen craft, Hope Soda and all, he spread a tale of pirates who sought to take the elixir for themselves. I do commend him for some level of insight - he possessed enough to see through part of our ruse. The pocket watch is the single most recognisable symbol of a teamate, but he knew that a teamate I was not. A true teamate would not so freely dispose of one of their most prized possessions.
Unlike in /watson/, where each watch is unique to its owner and represents their position, status, and history in the nation, the watchmakers of /infinity/ mass produce handmade timepieces out of muscle memory just to distract themselves from the gnawing thoughts spawned in the cold. Just for the momentary sensation of clinging to a tangible symbol of their goddess, for only so many seconds as does not allow the dread of abandonment to return. Indeed, despite the similar appearance, my pocket watch was of /infinity/ make, not /watson/, and the spared fugitive thus reasoned that /infinity/ was attempting to frame /watson/ for the sabotage of a benevolent operation.
But those /infinity/ watches are created to serve no purpose beyond the very act of creating them, are discarded as soon as they are complete, and are thus incredibly easy to get a hold of. Who’s to say I am a kronie merely because I possess a kronie’s watch? Many who were bored enough to listen to that man’s tale dismissed him as a stray, raving schizo. Some accepted his interpretation, that /infinity/ was at fault. Very few saw deeper into my deception, having heard - or perhaps themselves inspired - similar stories before, of incidents that had turned out to be engineered for the sole purpose of inciting senseless conflict between nations.
News travels fast. But it is weighed down by evidence. I find it travels much faster in the form of a rumour. Scurrying like a rat across the land, under every door and into every tucked-away corner. Soon everybody knew about the ambush at the docks, and all recalled a different version of events. Soon blame was being tossed around like the cheap whores we celebrated with the night of the heist.
The world moves to the dance of my strings. And the story I would have it tell is one of purest chaos.
And while council could take control of the SecForce, SecForce can turn on council if people vote for it. Though there is another power of council. That power is being the administrators of /nasa/'s computer networks. Council will turn the station's defense systems on anyone who dares revolts. Council can also ban anyone from the network they deem a threat. Council can also lock down access to any information in the databases. There is a defense to council going rogue and that's for the senate to unanimously override council by declaring a new home world.
Spring 1123
Kenichi was a bit hesitant when Lady Citrora suggested the restaurant. It seemed like a waste to go to a “Deadbeat”-style restaurant while traveling through a country world-renowned for its cookery. But the Luknight had assured him the “White Luboar” offered a fusion cuisine that could not be experienced anywhere else in the Himedom.
So far, the engineer had to admit her suggestion had not disappointed. The decor was tacky to an extreme; even by Deadbeat standards, this was far too many skulls, bones and rib cages plastered anywhere that could receive them. His eyes could only see black and red all around him, and the lighting was a bit too dark for his liking. He gathered the establishment wanted to provide what native Lunaitos would consider a genuine /morig/ experience.
But! The food, praise Mori. It delivered. The meals were served in Deadbeat fashion, with the customers sitting on the cushioned floor and a big low table piled high with meals. A contraption in the center allowed a part of the table to rotate, making easier for everyone to have a taste of every dish. No chopsticks, which did not surprise him. The fried rice looked somewhat similar to what he was used to, but eating it was an entirely different experience. It was much softer, almost like a rice porridge instead, and as expected, incredibly sweet, probably simmered with some fruit juice, and the chunks of fatty Lupork ham burst into his mouth with juiciness. Instead of endless platters of grilled seafood, various parts of the Luboar were manipulated into an infinity of forms. Fine herb-coated prime rib roast wrapped into a crispy pastry, lightly flamed belly sashimi sprinkled with a sweet-sour sauce, and strange chewy noodles that were apparently made with locally grown sweet potato flour. The differences between the local takoyaki and the sort he was familiar with were also striking. Obviously, they were a little sweeter, but less than he would have expected from the rest of the dishes, and the batter was incredibly fluffy. It melted in his mouth, leaving the soft chunks of octopus to be chewed.
While enjoying the meal, the group was discussing Bunaito society. The table seated two Deadbeat engineers, a Luknight of Cooking who had joined the expedition at Nadex, Lady Citrora, Agent Saimei and Kenichi himself. Saimei was a quiet presence, so much so Kenichi sometimes forgot she was his shadow for all his movements far from the rest of the expedition. When spoken to, she was bashful, quite different from her fellow agents. Though a less conspicuous personality was probably desirable for most Agents of the Shrine of the Purging Flame. Lucia and Suiko were an exception in that regard.
Citrora seemed a bit flustered by the current topic, for some reason. “Kenichi, I’m telling you that the proper worship of a Goddess cannot include things such as l-lewding her. It’s unthinkable nanora.” The engineer shook his head while biting a tempura fried sweet potato. “I imagine this must be a cultural distinction between our people. It’s not so strange for a Deadbeat to grow to desire Our Mori carnally, she is undeniably an immensely attractive entity. I believe the same could be said of your Princess.” This seemed to put the Luknight off-balance. “Well, yes, Hime is an icon of beauty, but you shouldn’t let your admiration be tainted by this kind of feeling nanora!” Kenichi responded with a surprising amount of gravitas. “Desire is not a taint, Fruce. It can be a source of power, or of motivation. Our most elite warriors are driven almost mad by their Mori Love, but it is what makes their bones so strong.”
In her time of need, Citrora saw someone approaching the table. The place was ran by couple, a Deadbeat huntsman married with a certified Luknight Chef, Lady Anisa Corish. The matron was quite a character, she had visited the group in the middle of their meal. Fruce was a good friend of hers. Citrora introduced the Deadbeats to her before explaining the expedition to her. “I already know, Fruce, everyone in town heard about it. You’re really going back up there, huh?” Citrora nodded slowly. “The Himedom needs my skills in the North, once more nanora.” Lady Corish stared at the Luknight for some time. Citrora was around ten years her junior, and Anisa seemed a bit concerned. The younger Luknight seemed to read her gaze. “It won’t be like last time, Anisa. It’s not a desperate stand against the hordes, it’s a well-equipped scientific expedition.” The Chef Knight shakes her head in disapproval. “It doesn’t matter how much gold the Deadbeats have brought, or how high-minded your goals are. Soon enough, you’ll be faced with a schizo filled with hate and frosted in icicles. And you won’t have me watching your back.”
Lady Citrora crosses her arms and smirks, as if she was thinking: “Ah, so this is what it’s about”. “I’ll have plenty of people watching my back. Fellow Luknights, and Deadbeat warriors.” The older woman exhales. “I guess you have to let the bird fly to the high Arctic one day.” A smile grew on her lips. “If you get yourself killed, I’ll murder you.” Fruce giggled, it was a sweet, heartwarming sound. “I’ll keep that in mind, you worrywart crone nora.” The cook faked some anger and began laughing with the rest of the table.
***
Well, they were back on the ship now, admiring Chunora for the last time for the foreseeable future. Next stop: the Capital of the Himedom.
Would Luknights be interested in trying out fruit gelatin parfaits? We can also make chocolate lava cakes (they're cakes but with a liquid chocolate middle). If Luknights want something a little more practical we have various kinds of donuts, bagels, muffins, and sweet coffees. /nasa/ even has Japanese cheesecake. We're expanding our cafe menues. When the lock downs end Pod Village is expecting an increase in tourism. Many of the cafes inside the station are moving outside to the village. And they're bringing their treats with them.
I've finally finished the /nasfaqg/-/risu/ story. I'll be posting it without proofreading because its the middle of the night and I'm very tired. Its too long to post as a post so I made it into a rentry. I tried to depict /risu/ as plausibly as I could, according to what has been told to me in the thread and what i read from their lore document. Sorry for any mistakes i may have made
TRADE DEAL---------------------------------
A fictional /nasfaqg/ merchant of middling status and her loyal employees have arrived in Sabatangan to establish a new shipyard in the city and do their part in the expansion of the /risu/ exploratory fleet. They will be staying in the city for some time, even after the negotiations have ended.
I am a bit late with this, but if it is fine we can just consider the story happening sometime before the fleet leaves to explore.
>>25383460 (i remembered holy fuck) Please replace the text that is currently in the "Major Settlements" section with this. The pictures can stay the same.
Silvanus- The biggest and most fortified settlement of risu, it is also the only one that can be seen from a vessel as parts of it are on the beach. Fortifications became necessary once /meat/ raids began occuring.
Gaputan- A quiet settlement that is the main hub for traders at /towa/. They're skilled at fishing and nut collecting but are also known for having small traditional farms where they can grow other kinds of nuts and fruits.
Kenkerto- A port settlement that became the initial contact point for /inf/ and began the alliance that changed /risu/ forever. Recently has seen a massive boost in population and activity with talks of it being one of the main production areas of the new pinisi class vessel.
Pasuma- Being the settlement closest to the temple of risu, Pasuma gains a massive boost of regeneration magic that's more powerful than most areas. This is the initial contact point during the annual nut tribute and many nearby villagers flock here every year to give risu their nuts. Very strict rule of no settlements being any closer.
Sabatangan- Famed for their prowess in fishing. Recently became a port city along Kenkerto thanks to the influence of /inf/. Unlike Kenkerto, the docks here are much larger and more numerous with many planned pinisi to be built in this area. Recently had a visitor by /nasfaqg/.
Panrong- Serves as the main settlement for traders from /mep/ as well as being the place with considerable amount of molerisuners. Popular mining facility with rocks and gemstones being traded among all other major/minor settlements.
Ceres- The western end of the /inf/ road that serves as a major city. Regularly gets visitors from Sabatangan and acts as a pinisi construction area like the other cities on the west coast. Known particularly for being more fortified than most risuner cities with barricades on the shoreline.
Demeter- The eastern city of the /inf/ road. The most kronii populated city, this acts as their eastern base of operations among the risuners that populate it. Serves as a launching point for ships to and from /inf/ as well as to /rose/ recently. Risuners here are more adept and used to kronii customs than anywhere else here.
Settlement elders
Sabatangan- Dwi (male)
Silvanus- Yuanita (male)
Gaputan- Harta (male)
Kenkerto- Susanti (female)
Pasuma- Tamara (female)
People in the Republic don't use much jewelry at all, so the market for gems is smaller than that of other nations, the biggest buyers are scientists and research institutions that wish to do experiments with it, pyrite, quartz, and amber would be easier to find than any other gems.
No idea about gems except maybe gypsum? For nuts, walnuts, pistachios, almonds and chestnuts are commercially cultivated with some beech nuts, and pine nuts and acorns that are collected as a secondary product of the managed forests. Because a lot of the arable land is still owned and used by the state for food production it's mostly meant for the internal market. So agricultural production and methods are pretty advanced but the output for more commercial products like nuts and fruits aren't as intensive and specialised. So don't expect there to be a lot available for trading but that may change since iirc /who/rep intended there to be clamour for reform from the farmers for more freedom in terms of their agricultural output.
a sickle is a mini-scythe. a kama is like a war sickle compared to a war scythe. grim reapers use normal scythes since they are harvesters of souls, yet what is depicted in that video would be considered a kama in the same way that a "mini-sword" would be some kind of knife at some point, not that they don't have instances where the distinction becomes blurry.
i think it would be cool to say the deadbeat was a ninja with a kusarigama, especially since /morig/ seems to have a bit of japanese influence. also, the chains would be thematic to the idea of death. also, it might be a good idea to say the sapling was a druid or green mage, since those are the ones that are typically associated with nature, while black mages are typically associated with death/necromancy, correct me if i am wrong.
RISUNERS ARE READY TO EXPLORE!
ITS FUCKING TIME BOIS! THE TRI FLEET IS FINALLY COMPLETE AFTER A MASSIVE DEDICATED EFFORT TO BUILD A FUCKLOAD OF BOATS BY RISUNERS AND ALL OUR ALLIES! WE WILL FINALLY BE ABLE TO GO UP TO THE NORTH AND MEET OUR NEW FRIENDS ESPECIALLY THE SUPPOSED MAGICAL NATURE PEOPLE!
We have come a long way and have 3 main ambassador crews ready for this expedition. Since this is such an absolute massive undertaking we have 6 ships dedicated to storing an absolute fuck load of food which mainly contains nuts but other foods are present. Our main route will be to stop at /morig/ as a test run and a secondary launching point if all goes well.
After that we will try to go get resupplied at /ggg/ if possible but we made precautions just incase this is not possible. Literally all our people that have seafaring training will be on these boats. We would like to keep some people behind to train others but we simply do not want to wait any longer. /nasa/ will prepare activities for Risuners. Since we got power again we can use augmented reality hologram simulations again. We also have mini remote control sailboat racing. And we have lots of space-age treats at the cafes. We're preparing macadamia nut cookies and pecan pies. We can also grind nuts into nut flour to make nut bread. We also have hazelnut chocolate spread (Nutella).
Also please be mindful of the migrating giant tortoises at this time.
Let's see... The Army garrison at the port can do a small parade to welcome the foreign dignitaries with some of the naval vessels firing gun salutes when the ships arrive. There are lots to do in /who/. Hot air ballon rides, visiting the library of /who/LEXsandria, sampling some wine and touring the museums... I guess the squirrel people would also be interested in paying a visit to some of our industrial centers. Anyone fleeing the station would be considered the former, and would be stopped by the scouts. Then, if it was found out they were neither smuggling tech or were privy to knowledge that shouldn't be shared, they could continue on their way if they so chose. But it's also fair to consider that many made the decision to flee in a state of confusion, as the station did just go black on them all of a sudden, and often decided to either return or come to the hideout with the scouts once they were explained to that what they are trying to do is basically a slow suicide.
No, no, please, do go into depth. Why does it even have to be chuubanite induced? It could be just an evolutionary trait. Perhaps you simply branched off a lot earlier(and I mean A LOT earlier) from the hominid path, and your ancestors eventually evolved wings. Hell, you don't even have to be related to any other human species on the planet by any stretch of the imagination, just humanoid looking birds basically, not the other way around. 6 limbs could also imply a common ancestor with the current dragons, and by extension, drakes! THERE IS SO MANY CHOICES!
>Also, can we stop using the ! in the D0G-G0?
The ! makes D0G-G0 fun to say though. Also talk to Hoomans about wings.
>>25501852
Could wings be used as a recessive hereditary mutation? Wings are rare because they no longer provide Hoomans an advantage in combat. Plus winged children are difficult to birth and often kill their mothers during birth. Winged children are kept alive by nobility who can afford them as a novelty. Otherwise they'd be disowned and abandoned quickly by the poorer folks. Wings can help glide in a straight line. Without a tail to use as a rudder you can't turn. Also winged hoomans may have to have hollow bones to keep them light enough to glide. Hollow bones have disadvantages as they're more prone to injury than solid bones.
Since you are interested, why not. Reposting it.
Polygenic disorder:
- Females disproportionally affected. Only present in native pouplation.
- Strong association with the mother(only inherited through mother, Mitochondrial?)
lower skeleton(decrease of ~40-50%), muscle mass(decrease of ~10-20%)
weaker bones, muscle mass and strength can be partially recovered through the consumption of crops grew in higher chuubanite areas, but skeleton mass marginal increase only bone strength.
- Depends on individual, most would need wheelchair for longer distances, can stand and support themselves for extended period of time(hours) but usually can't walk for >15 minutes, sprint for ~100 meters before feeling pain. Too much physical exertion could break bones.
- New back skeletal muscle group connected with wing, similar to aviant flight muscle. Specialised cells in wing stores chuubanite. Limited articulation of wing due to skeletal structure, flight achieved mostly by expenditure of chuubanite, which creates vertical lift. Visibally emits amber colored chuubanite particles. The subject then are able to glide in a limited fashion and maintain altitude by occasionally flapping their wings(which expends more chuubanite). Depending on individual's physical ability & cell + chuubanite concentration, flight last no longer than 25 minutes before exhaustion, 1 1/2 hour before expending all chuubanite. Accumulation process slow, mostly through food and small amount from air & water, takes at least 2-3 weeks before completely replenished.
- Feather patterns different in individuals. Hair in some areas replaced by down feathers.
- Slightly lower cone cell ratio in eyes, reflective tissue behind eyes, like cats
- No observed difference in neck bone structure
I also had a bit of a discussion with no paragraph anon and he proposed that the mutation has something to do with some early proto/meat/ immigrants, the /meat/ chuubanite influenced the genes and resulted in this mutation. The more directional aspect of the mutation can be related to some early owl worship within proto-/who/.
Also for immersion purposes how would the 3 northern nations (/uuu/, /who/, and /nasa/) hear about the risuner approach? Well, for /nasa/, that's simple. We will hear about you when your horny asses knock on our station's door, muddy and wet from traversing the wetlands. If your group is especially perceptive, you might be able to spot a scouting D0G-GO shadow watching over you from a distance before you even come close to the station, so your arrival shouldn't be a total suprise.
Also, would you even know /nasa/ exists? Not like we had any prior contact aside from that tool smuggler, if that is canon(haven't really been following), and I doubt he could give detailed instructions on how to reach us, so you might have to work around that when you visit /who/, /who/(heh) should have decent knowledge about us, perhaps even a map to share.
News would travel decently fast in Vitubia but it really depends on how you guys relayed the message first. If the announcement is only made when the fleet sets out then it's not a surprise the nations didn't get any advanced notice. If you a lot entrusted a letter to some merchants bound for /hlgg/ when you started preparation then /who/ already knows. It also depends on the county in question. For /nasa/, because of the internal turmoil they likely would know nothing about it until risuners actually come near the sensor range of their surveillance stations. /uuu/ probably wouldn't know it either until some hoomans living near the border relayed the news to the saplings they trade with. About this. I can see this kind of hypothetical Hoomans be a sort of demihuman species like the risuners, but having all hoomans have the ability of flight would change the lore pretty drastically. Well you can also copy winged fusiliers and have the winged demihumans be a minority living in /who/ I guess. But then where did these people came from and evolved? Why are they only confined in /who/ if they can fly? But honestly, discounting all this scrutiny. There is the thematic aspect of it. Since Risu's chuuba lore is just that she's a squirrel girl, it's not surprising that risuners are basically squirrel people. But Mumei is the guardian/chronicler of civilisation who has the ability to shapeshift. Having wings and able to fly isn't as integral to the construction of the fictional nation of /who/, rather is the concept of civilisation and record keeping. While potentially having winged soldiers is cool as shit, and I would absolutely officially add it to the lore if I can get away with it, it isn't that important.
ok, this is about as much as Im gonna do for now, hopefully other saplings can chime in with comments/suggestions
essentially, this is a forest layer map, not an actual "terrain" map.
-light brown/sandy bits: beaches/dry brush areas (could also be salty marshes); at these layers, there is little to no /uuu/ chuubanite influence and visitors can spend a few months there without seeing biological side-effects
-light green areas: sparse forests, rolling hills, open meadows, grasslands; this is where new saplings roam and where visitors would have to come into if they care to actually talk with saplings; at this layer non-saplings can spend a maximum of about a month before side-effects start; hair might start turning green/mossy; bark-like fingernails, etc, are the common initial symptoms
-dark green area: this is the /uuu/ forest proper; all saplings live here; encounters with metamorphosed saplings are common (see lore docs for details on what these are like); non-saplings can spend a maximum of a week here without seeing symptoms; side-effects from the previous layer might start appearing as soon as 48 hours; after a week, the side-effects will start to adversely affect non-saplings (plant growth in lungs, eyes, ears), death is very possible after enough time
-the three elder trees: massive trees the size of skyscrapers; elder saplings live in them and protect them; extreme concentrations of chuubanite forms near their roots; it is said that any seed planted near this soil will sprout instantly; outsiders are not allowed here unless extremely trusted by a clan of saplings and even then will have to be escorted at all times
-dark spot: little is known; the trees are so tall and thick light barely reaches the ground; even saplings that go in here rarely come out; legends say this is where kirin roam; if a non-sapling somehow managed to make it here, it would be instant death for them
again, the actual terrain, trade routes, "settlements", etc, will need to be established later; I just wanted to apply the lore we saplings have already discussed to a map so that risuners, and others, can plan accordingly, and are aware of the consequences of different parts of /uuu/'s terrain.
for any other saplings wanting to expand on this (and if it wasnt already very obvious), Im drawing heavy influence from Made in Abyss (for the layers), and from the movie Annihilation (for the body-horror/plantification)
They wouldn't really be able to fly. What they can do is glide after climbing a high place. Ironically enough the winged hoomans could have a home in /uuu/ border forests if it has tall trees like redwoods.
>>25508538
At least the discussion was interesting. Winged hoomans would have been cute. Especially if one became a commanding officer (which goes against lore I know).
Interesting, does fit with Eastern /who/ being hilly somewhat.
>Winged hoomans would have been cute.
Yeah, that's half the reason I first drafted the winger mutation idea but even if I'm still up for it if the potential issue can be solved. In the end you still need to convince /who/rep I think they went a bit menhera thinking about how chuubanite magic should work for /who/
>(which goes against lore I know).
The no femhooman thing is kinda loose and I only wrote it to poke fun at the rrat that /who/ the split is full of femanons. During wartime there would be recruitment efforts to get women on the frontlines. During the founding war there were probably a lot of women fighting both in irregular and formal units. During peacetime, there would still be female officers but they work in non-combat roles. The Republic is supposed to be pretty egalitarian.
man i just see magic and suddenly i feel like not writing anything, since the birdgirls require a lot of implicated magic along with certain amount of societal tinkering.
basically, it's a pain to integrate and deal with magic.
Magic also kinda horts my bwain so I'm half glad that the winged hooman idea even if it's very limited in both numbers and ability to start with is shelved. Writing about metal balls being propelled at supersonic speed by spicy sand is easier than the same thing but with glowing spicy sand. Sometimes I envy the risuners that truly embody "magic is everything"...
this kind of could have been a neat idea, since /uuu/ chuubanite does have genetic modification properties
>> No.25509891
This is just an update on the baby mammoth idea a while back. It took us about a week but we found the baby mammoth's herd. We added a tracker to baby mammoth so we can hopefully track her heard's migration path. It was a painful good-bye separating the baby from the nurse. She is strong enough to start eating food on her own. At first we were concerned that the matriarch spotted us. But when the matriarch heard the baby mammoth she blasted her trumpet. Then baby mammoth comes running to her. Fortunately after careful examination the matriarch recognized the baby. The matriarch did see us eventually. Instead of running away in fear the matriarch gave us a friendly trumpet. It wasn't a loud intimidating call. She must have smelled our scent on the baby and recognized who we were. Nevertheless the herd marches on. Its an interesting idea to ponder how different Planet /vt/'s mammoths are compared to Earth's. The hypothesis is these mammoths lived longer with better food, so they have better cognitive function than the primitive Earth mammoth. That said in our short time with the baby mammoths are indeed untameable. But perhaps we can still develop a friendship with these animals if we are wise, strong, and kind.
If she was in the military then winged Hooman will be at home in hot-air balloons. She can glide from balloon to balloon repairing them or firing as a sniper. She would need a custom rifle with bullets that work with gravity to extend range.
>>25509716
That's also why we proposed evolution. Winged hoomans will go extinct eventually as most recessive traits do. Also their births are too high risk for anyone but the wealthiest. They can be a curiosity to study. However my estimate is there is less than 300 to 1000 of them.
>>25509849
I'll have to read /who/'s lore. At one point in pre-history they could have been forest. Like how in pre-history /nasa/ was a frozen taiga forest before it melted to become a wetland. Still fucking cold though.
The good news is this mammoth herd know our smell now. And they know the smell of schizos. As long as a fucking Mozzie in a space suit doesn't open fire this mammoth herd will trust us. We still can't get too close to them. However they should be brave enough to migrate through /nasa/ protected lands. Hopefully other mammoths will follow.
Just gotta keep them away from the crops. We fucked that up with the tortoises. Now we have to plow farmland somewhere else.
