I haven't watched a new anime in over a decade, and I rarely watch most gaming/zatsu streams. I usually just tune in for karaoke and live performances.
The only thing I watch vtubers for is to see cute anime girls with nice voices sing and dance. Simple as.
They don't even have to sing well as long as they are putting effort in.

Holy based. I watch anime, have favorite chuubas and watch their normal streams too but it ultimately comes down to exactly this. I like seeing them sing and dance, I think I've never rewatched any streams but I rewatch 3D lives a lot. The company, singing and performing level etc doesn't matter, I compare them against each other but I still enjoy all of them, never miss Holo or Niji 3D lives, try to keep up with other companies and indies too. Shit is fascinating.

though I admit I was partial to slice of life and romantic dramas
I preferred stuff like planetes, vivy, relife, which had their flaws but I'm talking about their inherent premise, not their execution

Last anime I enjoyed was old school naruto on toonami. Apart from that, it's a cesspool of immature story writing which I can't stand even though the I'm near addicted to the medium. Jrpgs (some) and Vtubers fix that for me.
