Yeah, no. As long as Holo is at the top, Idol culture will remain an integral part of vtubing. The fact that NijiJP itself is dabbling more and more into it (e.g. Kuzuha getting concerts, NijiFes being seperate Male and Female idol themed days prior to cancellation) only empasizes it. The only way it shifts would be if another company changes the dominant format again the same way that Upd8 (pre recorded videos) was supplanted by Nijisanji (2d and live streaming) which was then supplanted by hololive (making vtubing popular to international audiences and focus on idol culture).

The problem is most people who say that want a full 180. The dating ban is fine when it's "don't show don't tell," and if they're mature enough to keep the fans and work first. But most idols are teenagers and are incapable of doing that, hence the dating ban being important.
The dating ban isn't fine when it's approached with the mentality that they need to remain pure. That's bad for both the mental health of the girls and the fans.

bro, please tell me you aren't that stupid. concerts are not an intrinsically idol act, and not all musicians are idols. fantasia was nijisanji's only concert that was purposely gender-split; the mixed-gender concerts (nijirock, light-up tones, previous nijifes) were all equally celebrated and had equal male/female audience with no complaints. nijisanji continues to heavily include a mix of male and female talent into their events, shows, and concerts with few exceptions (those exceptions often being one- or two-man shows, yet some of which still have mixed-gender guests).
go ahead and believe idol culture is an integral part of your own vtuber experience, but don't act like everyone feels that way, especially companies you clearly don't watch and fanbases you clearly don't interact with.
