Revolutionized the entire corporate industry as we know it. Profits are at all time highs and both viewership and merch sales have yet to reach their peaks. And to top it all off, it successfully killed H*lolive (The Great Satan of VTubing) and idol culture as we know it. GLORY TO LUXIEM. GLORY TO NIJISANJI.

Everything, but mostly being male in Nijisanji capitalizing hard on the fact that no matter how much people want male collabs/members for Holo, they know where their money is.

That said, EN weebs are already a niche in general compared to Asia and are far more inclined towards anime girls over anime guys in a medium as parasocial as streaming. But, you still get to take over the gender that spends more money per capita, and also people who don't enjoy only watching girls.

That said, I don't think people were expecting them to blow up that much either, so for things going right after debut I'd unironically say it has to be Nina, Mysta, Luca, and Vox pandering hard that has catapulted them this far.

1.Despite all the basic rigging their avatars are unique and high quality so it sets them apart. There are many nijis who look like generic anime characters you'd use to fill up a classroom while the MC sets itself apart as a sore thumb
2.First English male group to debut (to my knowledge)
3.Actually good/decent voices fitting their avatars
4.They know their audience. I can't watch Vox due to his constant fujo/gay pandering but that's at least 90% of his fanbase and he delivers what they want
5.They debuted under the right company in the right time. They're basically Myth but males. May not get as high CCV as Myth did but in terms of SCs/profit they're absolutely smashing it. If they debuted under Hololive Production as HoloStars fujos wouldn't care about them cuz that name itself makes half their fanbase seethe
6.Actual snowball effect which was created by all the points listed above which further accelerates their growth

What those explanations fail to mention is that Luxiem captured the interest of the JP/CN crowds too on top of westerners. Without those fans they wouldn't be much bigger than the girls. A couple of them would be a few thousand viewers higher than the top girls but the rest would be 3k and below.

Luxiem is not my thing but you gotta be fair in comparisons. Rushia who was #1/#2 most superchatted vtuber did exactly that: hard GFE experience with occasional pandering to her lonely big fat wallet fans. Not all of luxiem members do it as hardcore as Vox and it reflects in their SCs earnings. You could say that Lamy is Alban or Shu in terms of "experience" but I don't see people giving her shit for it. Also, girls can pull in huge $ by just being cute (like gura) or having their boobs jiggle all day. That's almost impossible for men to pull off unless you're some sort of shy shota-kun with deranged fanbase and instead of being horny like Vox you play the "I'm shy and innocent don't talk about ecchi stuff" card.
They could have gone the brotuber route but honestly it's very hard to gauge if they would even have a third of their success and in business it's all about money, especially in soulless corporate world. I suppose we'll see if holostarsEN will go the mythical EN brotuber route and if they succeed maybe a wind of change will blow.

It should be interesting to see how Holostars EN shakes out because I feel like there are a lot of HoloEN/HoloJP fans that like the idea of there being males and will say they want them and be supportive of their oshi's interactions with them if they happen but don't actually watch males at all currently. When you compare it to Nijisanji by the time they released males their western fanbase was predominantly people interested in the NijiJP males to begin with and they had a large existing fanbase for males in Japan and China that came in to support Luxiem too. Hololive has none of that just some people who like the idea.

>> No.24509692

>>24509386
To be honest I have not watched Luca so I can't comment on that but since Vox is the most superchatted and famous one, his constant pandering and horny ASMRs set the image for all of Luxiem for those like me who have minimal exposure to their content. On the other hand, Rushia being the most superchatted in 3rd gen didn't make all of them look like panderers because they had a way more popular cute seiso rabbit and a pirate who despite being horny all the time didn't lean into GFE. I just hope starsEN and future niji waves won't have their whole group's face/popularity defined by one person despite having other people pulling their weight

Luca panders a bit, not really to fujos though as such. More like yumejo I would say he is very interactive with chat in the kind of way that helps to foster parasocial connections and I think he has ventured into the ASMR space recently with a "bartending" RP but its kind of basically completely seiso compared to Vox's stuff.

-came at a time there were no western male vtubers from big companies
-gay enough to appease fujos but also straight enough so they can fantasize about them
-are all fairly entertaining and know enough about vtuber culture to know what the audience wants (can't say the same about noctxys)
-the voices fit all the characters well (can't say the same about ethyria and noctxys)

good decisions were made for them, I can't say nijisanji will keep it up since their recruitment team don't seem to be doing good choices lately.

It isn't only one guy though?
Looking at the superchat rankings worldwide last month for vtubers. All of them were within the top 30 earners. Vox was 1st and made the most out of any vtuber. Luca was 2nd. Then Mysta was 9th. With Ike and Shu being 21st and 27th.

Funny thing is, Noctyx is exactly what catalogfags and /#/ think that Luxiem is. Aside from Vox's obviously billboarded pandering streams, the Luxiem boys are fairly straight and competent streamers.
Noctyx are overly, flamboyantly gay (Uki), pander extremely hard to their yumejo fanbase (Sonny, Alban), are depressing doomers (Fulgur), or are just plain incompetent and totally out of their element (Yugo). They're honestly the weakest group of streamers in the branch, but at least a couple of them are trying to improve themselves.

Western women? Sort of. It's pretty split between Holo/Niji since Hololive is just that much bigger here. Western guys it's not even a comparison obviously.

East Asia women yes, as there's basically no competition there. The highest HoloJP gal barely hits 85/15 split and its way downhill from there, while the average NijiJP female sits close to that.

East Asian men, it's probably tilted in Holo's favor by a bit. Even though Kuzuha/Kenmochi, etc. have huge male audiences too it's not enough.

SEA is where you're probably the most off. Holo still by far more popular in SEA in general. The only ones where Niji has slightly more than usual is Indonesia and Philippines even though Holo still smashes them like 75/25, everywhere else is close to 90/10.

The only other slightly interesting thing I guess is that among people who search for Nijisanji/Hololive topics in Japanese over English, whether they be Japanese or just learned it themselves, Nijisanji slightly edges them out like 55/45 in regions where they're like 85/15 among non-JP speaking audiences. It more likely has to do with most Nijisanji news/content/clips being exclusively in Japanese and those people browsing Japanese stuff instead over any actual preference.
