I sometimes watch a little bit of Kagase Uno and she could be a midtier holo or at very least pull those "scrub" level 3-5k CCV. She has a nice voice, cute loli design, not a slut and streams diligently which makes her miles above some EN members and yet...100 CCV. I feel so bad for this group but I didn't follow them when they debuted so I have no idea why they're doing so poorly. Is this because people have Sony or Sony simply sucks at advertising?

Sony has a really bad reputation in vtube scene (rightfully so) so vtube fans just don't look at them anymore. However, versen talents are legit. Maybe they don't want to get attached to a Sony vtuber and get heartbroken again.

How the fuck can a company like Sony fail so miserably? They could easily drop 1M USD for advertising which wouldn't make a dent in their budget and it would pay off in a year if their talents grow. Now no one knows about this group and the girls have lower numbers then holostars which is not something you'd expect from one of the biggest entertainment companies in the world. Sony literally got fucked by some indie start ups.

>> No.24453406

>>24453298
Same reason they gave them the shitest possible rigging and how the girls had little to no actual decent equipment; because they don’t give a fuck. They lose nothing if they fail, or if they had magically somehow succeeded. It’s the same as how those Triple A companies can somehow shipout a complete shovelware. There’s nothing to lose and only gain.
I don’t even think the Sony girls are even paid seeing how Sony and Nijisanji are friends.

In the west, sure. Versen can grow by pander to the west along with Prism branch imo.
Luna stuffs isn't hard to find and I'm sure JP vtube fans are very familiar with it. Luna was the 2nd most popular vtuber during her time and is still in top 5 even now after returning to her PL.
That reputation alone would keep JP fans from supporting another Sony vtuber group, and Versen is primarily a JP group.

>why are they doing so poorly
Think of it like this: one day VERSEn promotional material comes into existence: a website, a youtube channel with an animated trailer, and a twitter. This is all fine and good, except how will anyone ever discover any of this? We did because /vt/ is concentrated autism for all things vtuber and someone is perpetually scouring twitter for shit to post, but that's about it. Even now, six months later, the twitter only has 5k followers and the official channel has 10k subscribers. The trailer has a bit over 300k views but most people who had it pushed to them by Youtube algorithms probably didn't understand what the fuck it was for and didn't check the channel or any of the links.

They have the budget to do anything, really. They could buy all the relevant billboards, hire top level music producers and pay stations to play their songs (it used to happen quite often in music industry), they could develop a game such as simple dating sim or something more sophisticated. They could also release some shortstories/manga based on their chuubas or just simply do good old google/youtube paid advertising and much more...It feels like they had a very limited budget (in comparison to what they could have had) and then abandoned their talents after debut. I feel so sorry for those girls because they're actually talented and not some random skanks picked up from the streets. Time has come to petition yagoo to save them.

It's kind of a fascinating point, actually. How did the likes of Kizuna Ai and Luna, or early Nijisanji and Hololive make themselves known to people? Back then vtubing itself was obscure so it would've been more difficult than today.

Kizuna Ai had huge novelty buff. It was one of those things that no one does, you do it, someone notices it and your career just snowballs from there. I don't think term "vtuber" even existed then, she was just a nice looking anime youtuber making cute videos who had no (serious) competition for a long time. It didn't exactly end well but that's life
I'm not sure about Luna because I didn't follow her but a lot of people consider her album one of the best in vtuber sphere. She also debuted early (2017 Dec) while the market was not as competitive.
Nijisanji was probably the first company to bring many new talents under their roof as vtubers so people looking for entertaining streamers with anime avatars had a lot to look forward to. Of course, the CEO is a literal walking bag of money so he could afford to try and fail various projects related to nijisanji. A lot of indie startups don't have that luxury.
When it comes to Hololive the thing that set them apart was their whole idol concept. Since idols groups such as AKB48 are(were) huge it attracted a lot of attention. Also, because members like Haachama and Coco would sometimes speak English, it made foreign fans more interested which resulted in English clips being shared on the internet which then attracted a lot of foreign viewers who boosted their CCV in turn creating more interest in Japan itself.
What did Sony do? Nothing. They didn't have the novelty buff and didn't try to twist vtubing concept in any creative way. They could have saved it all and became one of the biggest vtuber companies if they simply invested more money and time since they have all the resources and connections to dwarf hololive and nijisanji but they either gave up or fucked up.

>> No.24455843

>>24455389
I'm talking more fundamentally than that. Before someone decides that Kizuna Ai has novelty appeal, they have to have watched her. Something directed them to her videos, something directed people to Nijisanji liver videos and so on. What was that something? THIS was the step VERSEn failed.

Kizuna came as an in between a vocaloid and streamers. Fans of vocaloids take interest and watch her. Fans of streamers see this as a new thing and watch her. Niji made a paradigm shift from kizuna's 3D to 2D making it accessible so many watched them to see how it would work. Holo took the recipe to another level by claiming as an idol vtuber and now you have 3 fanbase that took interest: idol fans, anime fans and streamers. The vtuber arms race will determine which company would take the lead in another meta shift.
