This is a fallacy that a lot of otherwise good-intending people take, which leads ultimately to despair and rationalising evil.

The reality is that the pie of wealth can be grown as new ideas, inventions, talent, etc emerge. It's obvious if you just reflect for a minute. We used to be farmers with horses and stuff. But now we have airplanes and technology. The quality of life drastically improved despite everyone working the same hours.

As this pertains to vtubing, the size of the overall paying audience isn't static, it's growing. And it only grows as new vtubers emerge, providing a place for new audience members to spectate. By becoming a new vtuber, you're widening the field, not stealing viewers from elsewhere. Niches can now be even more niche, people can find what they want, and thanks to bungotaiga you have me. I'd have never came here (for example) had I never met him. I've been on twitch for years and never felt the "click of passion" until I met him. Likewise, a curious spectator might not otherwise stick around unless you (and you specifically, reading this now) continue streaming. The pie of wealth only grows as your new and unique talent is put to work.

If you see the pie as static, then you only ever see yourself as "stealing viewers from elsewhere". Enter the feelings of guilt, etc.

Remember that you're offering a service: entertainment. And people are already entertained. If not TV, then youtube, if not there, then elsewhere. The nature of the entertainment industry is that it's getting better, the jokes are funnier, and the audience is more specially targeted. People are eagerly looking for the next best thing. Vtubing is one of the latest frontiers in entertainment. By winning viewers, it means you've created a better product that deserves the attention received. You've improved the entertainment industry overall, for humanity as a whole, by a tiny little hair. The pie of wealth grew.

Her viewer retention is REALLY good because she's cute, good model, good streamer. Her growth was fast but linear. The tiktoks barely increased her viewcount.
