I used a similar method with similar results but it took me more time. 6 month is enough to understand any JP stream.

Why would cover want to hire a chuuba that only speaks a dead tongue?

Also having a Swiss chuuba may help into filling the lingo diversity leaving room for an actual Br*sh or Irish chuuba into the scene.

Anon, that's like saying "you've been watching anime with subs for 10 years. So you actually learned it in 12 years." There is a big difference between learning 1 thing or 2 a week and actually starting to study with the mass immersion approach, for exemple.
Once you start getting intense with your studying, making decks, doing your reps, using things like Aniki and stuff like this, that the part that matters. You can do that part in 6 months regardless if you have previous knowledge of the language or not.

How do babies learn anon? they don't understand shit (yet), but they are fully immersed
If no one is around or if you don't care that anyone might hear you, babble like a baby and copy the sounds you hear. Don't even think about what it means, just copy it to the best of your ability

>> No.24015981

>constantly and teach them
By speaking the language to them you retard
parents don't sit down and explain every little concept and word. they just speak. they might do baby talk, but babies aren't dogs. You don't have to dumb it down for them. Just speak to them normally and naturally and they begin to understand and recognize things subconsciously because they are immersed in the language all day

>> No.24016352

>>24015456
>you've been watching anime with subs for 10 years. So you actually learned it in 12 years
Why doesn't that count as learning? It definitely plays a big part, especially if you later go on to immerse yourself

>> No.24016381

>>24015981
>parents don't sit down and explain every little concept and word.
Yes they do. Then they send their kids to kindergarten where they do even more learning.
>b-baby talk doesn't count
Yes it does. A kid repeating a word they don't understand is completely worthless, they're just making noises, not learning or speaking anything. They have to learn what it means and in almost no cases will you come across that meaning instinctually. A kid will point and ask what the thing they're pointing at is called, and then someone else, most likely their parents or caretakers, will tell them what to call it, and they can still end up mispronouncing that shit for months even with constant exposure to other people repeating said word. The information doesn't pop up on its own. This isn't just "immersion", you're getting everything explained to you every step of the way by other people.

The time Kiara's RM spent "not actually trying to learn" at 14-15 aided her fluency
I don't care how you try to redefine "learning", she was still learning to speak Japanese back then. All the time she spent on Japanese is what contributed to her present level of fluency. Obviously a focused approach will be more effective, but the time she spent on the language in the past helped her more than you want to admit (for some reason)

>> No.24017808

>>24017017
>helped her more than you want to admit (for some reason)
Anon, you're the one being weird about it. Don't focus on Kiara's RM. The important point is you can learn the language relatively fast and from scratch, with some methods. Other people can and have attest of that. It's not about Kiara

>> No.24018105

>>parents don't sit down and explain every little concept and word.
>Yes they do.
No they don't
>>b-baby talk doesn't count
I didn't say this
>They have to learn what it means and in almost no cases will you come across that meaning instinctually
A parent may use a word the child doesn't understand again and again, and through context the child learns what it means. That's what I mean by "not explaining every little concept and word". Words like "the" and "a" aren't explained, grammar rules are picked up instinctually and aren't explained until much later when you go to school. A lot of learning is done subconsciously and related to the context of the situation, especially now as an adult when you should hopefully know what most things are by now

No, they aren't. Kids just straight up use them wrong until they're taught how to use them properly, usually in school. Some adults still don't get it.
